CHRONICLES OF PLAINFIELD - NEW EXHIBIT
Come join us for the opening reception of thelibrary's newest exhibit, "Chronicles of Plainfield,1870 - 1970 - Four Photographers document aNew Jersey Community." Meet our special guestsIrving Georges, one of the four photographerswhose photographs will be displayed, and his wife,Clotee.
The reception will take place on Saturday, January23, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The exhibitshowcases the works of Guillermo Thorn(1837-1920) ), Reina Lawrence (1869-1949), Paul
Revere Collier (1886-1952), and Irving Georges (1933- ), documenting the cultural andsocietal growth of Plainfield. The exhibit will run through March.
BREEZE THROUGH YOUR EXAMS
The Library has a new test preparation database called"Learning Express". There are tutorial and studyprograms available from elementary school throughadult. In addition to basic subjects like GED and U.S.Citizenship, there are scholastic practice tests such asGRE and SAT, professional career tests such asLSAT(law) and MCAT(medical), and occupationalstudy tests for electrical, plumbing, air traffic control,and military aviation careers.

services. Among the highlights are the 31% increase in circulation and the variety of awardswon by the library and its employees.
The financial pages document the library's success in obtaining support through grants andprivate funding. Bar charts show that the library's programs have developed with onlymarginal funding increases from year to year, and a dramatic pie chart reveals that thelibrary's funding from the City is slightly more than 2% of the total City Budget.
