DSTA news Mrs Mee is moving! As most of you know, I am proud to be defence spouse and I have loved living in many different parts of our great country. It is with sadness, then, that I must let you know that my husband has received a posting to Sydney and we will be moving there in 2019. It will be hard to leave Wagga, and even harder to leave this lovely little school. “Ready to Move” Groups In the past few weeks I have been meeting with students who are moving away from Wagga due to their parents defence force postings. We have explored the map, finding everyone’s new locations. In week 6 we talked about our favourite memories of Wagga. Here are some of the children’s suggestions:

The Oasis Pool Noah’s Ark My school and the teachers The “beautiful nature” all around The Kooringal Hotel and the RSL All my friends!

Last week we made “Treasure Boxes”. These help the children stay in control of some of the packing chaos by sorting out a few pre-cious things that can be made safe. The pictures show our “Tuesday Travellers” busily decorating their boxes. While decorating, the children also shared some of their feelings about moving away. This week will be our last session. We’ll be talking about making new friends at our new school.

Farewell to Year 6 and Defence Families As several of our families are leaving us before the end of term we will be having a brief ceremony to recognise and celebrate them. The Farewell Ceremony will be tomorrow, Tuesday 4th December, under the COLA, at 12:45pm. We will have our graduating Year 6 cohort and our students posting out cut a cake that will then be shared with the whole school. Parents are cordially invited to attend. DCO Wagga Activities out of Wagga DCO offices are winding back for the year but the staff will be there until Christmas Eve. Don’t hesitate to contact Helen if you need any help or advice. 76 Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga NSW 2651 ph: 02 6931 0011 The Defence Family Helpline is also there 24/7. It is not just for emergencies. This is a free service offered to Defence personnel and their families.
