Textile Art Center - BrooklynDuring our recent trip to New York for the presentation of our ‘Water Lilies’ World Tour of Monet in knitting squares at Vogue Knitting Live, we went to the Textile Arts Center in Brooklyn to meet part of the team and to visit this unique place... And magical! When we first came to New York three years ago to exhibit our Suzanne at this same show, we visited the Textile Arts Center in the Manhattan district, a small place where creation, textile practices and inspirations mingle to the delight of enthusiasts.

The Textile Arts Center was founded in 2009 in Brooklyn, NY. The 6,800-square-foot studio is a fully equipped workspace designed for textile enthusiasts. The Manhattan site opened its doors two years later. The main objective of the Textile Arts Center? To provide lovers with a meeting place for creative people where ‘handmade’ is the key word, but also a real resource centre. Focused on textile arts, the ‘TAC’ offers skills-based courses and a return to traditional crafts, workshops and other special events for young and old alike: hand weaving, textile dyeing and sewing are among other things on the program.

The Brooklyn site also hosts the Artists in Residency program, and is home to Sewing Seeds, a program dedicated to disseminating accurate information on natural dyes.

We came away from this inspiring and warm studio with stars in our eyes! Who knows, maybe one day we’ll work together…For further info, please check : http://www.textileartscenter.com

Argenteuil (near Paris)

It was a great first for ‘Together we are Monet’ project : our team was very happy to

present the very first exhibition of all our artworks will from February 5th to 14th at

the town hall of the city of Argenteuil, near Paris (France)!

Indeed, for the very first time, our 7 knitted artworks were exhibited all together, in

this city where the impressionist painter lived for almost 7 years: ‘The woman with the

umbrella turned to the left’ (2016), ‘The Bridge’ (2017), as well as our 5 ‘Water Lilies’

(2019) Did you know that it’s in the Val d’Oise that the painter of nature drew his

inspiration? Argenteuil was even essential in his work.

Indeed, he has painted many paintings in the Paris region. In seven years, in this city

that offers him an abundance of subjects that inspire him, Monet produced nearly 250

paintings. He found many views where nature and signs of modernity mingled, painting

world-famous paintings today, such as ‘The Banks of the Seine’ (1872), ‘The Reader’

(1872), ‘The Poppies’ (1873), ‘Argenteuil Bridge’ (1874) or ‘The Seine near Argenteuil’

(1874)... This period marks for the painter a turning point in his work, characters appear

in his paintings. It’s during this period that Impressionism was born.
