Message from the Chairman
Dear Individual members / Platinum corporate members / Corporate
members,
In this year, our Association continues to run two Registered Quality
Manager Certificate courses.
We have conducted company visits including Towngas Headquarter,
CLP Power station, etc.
In the coming year, we will continue to arrange companies visit,
weekend seminars, and work with our strategic partners such as SSI,
KMDC, etc. to enrich your professional knowledge.

Annual General Meeting 2016
Date: 19 December 2016
Annual General Meeting for members of the association will be held
at the MTR Headquarter on 19 December 2016. The purpose of the
meeting was to report the performance of HKQMA in 2015-2016.
Annual report and reports from chairman and treasurer will be
presented. We invite Mr. Francis Leung, keynote speaker to provide
a talk to share “Building Information Modelling (BIM): A tool for
Quality Advancement in Building Projects” to us.

Study Mission to Jiaxing (浙江嘉興) the 38th CNQCC
Date: 20-24 September 2016
Hong Kong Teams won the “My Favorite QC Award”
Dinner with China Delegates after company visit
The China National Quality Circle Convention (CNQCC) is one of the renowned annual events
being organized by the China Association for Quality (中國貿量協會), also known as China
Quality Control Association for Quality. Since 1978, with the support from the Chinese
Government, the QC activities are well established in China. Over the past 38 years, QC activities
are widely spread from manufacturing to service sectors such as transportation, project construction,
commerce, banking, post and telecommunications. At present more than 1.5 million circles were
registered with over 15 million people participating in QC activities. The cumulative economic
return produced by QC activities reached RMB $410 billion. The Convention attracted quality
professionals/ pioneers and QC teams from various provinces and cities of China.
The aim of the CNQCC was to let participants have a better understanding of the promotion and
implementation of quality activities in China through company visit. They could also learn how
quality activities can improve quality and productivity of product and service. Additionally, the
study mission highlighted the best practice in quality management as good model for individual
companies.
Participants were invited to have dinner with senior delegates from China Association for Quality.
An informal gathering was arranged for participants to meet delegates from different trades of
China. There were 40 participants joined the study mission.

Company Visit
Company Visit to Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas)
Headquarter
Date: 6 May 2016
We organized a visit to Towngas Headquarter in 2016. This visit gave participants a chance to
understand the operations of customer services (Call Centre), Control Centre, and Innovation Centre
in the North Point’s Headquarter. Twenty four participants joined the visit.

Company Visit to CLP Power Station
Date: 27 October 2016
We organized a visit to CLP Power station, Tuen Mun in 2016. This visit gave participants an
opportunity to understand the daily operations of Power generation. We also visited their showroom,
etc. Fourteen participants joined the visit.

Courses and Training Program
Certificate course on Registered Quality Manager (9th Intake)
October – December 2016
In the last Quarter of this year, the association launched the RQM 9th Intake program with 5
students. An intensive comprehensive program includes EQFM, ISO9001-2015 Clause 7.1.6, Lean,
TQM, etc. All students will be awarded certificates after 75% attendance and passing an open-book
examination. After the award of the Certificate, student can apply for the Professional Qualification
Certification for Certified Manager of Quality (CMQ) granted by China Association for Quality
(CAQ). Student can also apply for the Registered Quality Manager from New Zealand Quality
Society.

Certificate Course on Registered Quality Manager (10th Intake)
New Intake in 2017
Date: In April 2017
In April 2017, the association launches a 5-days program called Certificate Course on Registered
Quality Manager. Quality management could help organizations to maintain undefeated advantage
through practice of operational excellence and improvement in customer satisfaction. The upcoming
program could equip participants with knowledge and skills of providing quality management skills
so as to fulfill the increasing demand of high quality of management. After joining the program,
participants could gain a better understanding of the application of the three popular quality control
tools, Balanced Score Card, Lean Six Sigma and ISO standards. They could learn how to reduce
defects and waste and eliminate conflicts occurred during operation. Skills of enhancing customer
satisfaction and establishing corporate image could also be leant during the course. Course will be
held on Saturday from April to June.
Candidates will be awarded a certificate for passing of an open-book examination. After submitting
a personal project and passing a VIVA examination, candidates are eligible to apply for the
Registered Quality Manager (RQM) offered by the HKQMA. Holders of the HKQMA Registered
Quality Manager (RQM) are qualified to apply for Professional Qualification Certification for
Certified Manager of Quality (CMQ) granted by China Association for Quality (CAQ) and China
Enterprise Confederation (CEC).
