MAY OPEN DAY Our May Open Day was held on Thursday, 28th May at our premises. We had a full house of excited guests who couldn’t believe their eyes at what they saw in our Work Centre! The morning started off with an informative presentation given by our MD in the boardroom, and went on to an awe-inspiring tour of our facility. The Open Day
culminated with the guests enjoying some light snacks whilst reflecting on the inspirational events of the morning.
Our Next 2 OPEN DAYS

RADLEY ARENDSERADLEY ARENDSERADLEY ARENDSERADLEY ARENDSE never expected his weekly church visit to end up like it did on Sunday,
23rd June 2013. The father of two had just finished buckling up his kids in their car seats when
he was approached by someone who had caused an alterca4on at the church the week before.
From having just prayed for all those less fortunate than himself, he found himself lying on the
ground of the church parking lot, praying for his survival – He had just been shot in the back!
The gunshot had severed his spinal cord and saw him spend 2 months at the St. Augus4nes
Hospital before being transferred for another 2 months to the Entabeni Rehab Centre. With
no hope of ever being able to walk again, he turned to spending his 4me on the internet looking
for methods on how he should carry on living his life as a paraplegic. It was here that he
happened to come across the Saint Giles website and learnt about the Remedial Gym. Radley
joined our gym in March 2014 and has been in therapy ever since. He visits the gym 4x a week
and has no4ced a significant improvement in his upper body strength. “The rela4onship that
the therapists at the Saint Giles Remedial Gym build with their pa4ents is very special. They’ve
spurred me on and give me a reason to want to be a be9er, stronger and more focussed
individual. Yes, I miss my legs but I grow in leaps & bounds everyday with their help and caring”
says a rejuvenated Radley.
The Saint Giles Heritage Circle is a club for persons 60 and
over. It is a social club which will hold func4ons on a
quarterly basis. The inten4on is to bring people, who are
already connected to the organisa4on, closer to what we
do and any new developments which take place. If you are
interested please contact Brenda Craig on 031 3374404 or
