In 2016 we started our 4th group of women, 15 this year. They receive • a microloan of an amount equ-

ievelant to about 100 USD, • weekly gathering with teaching

on how to make a business, life skills etc., and

• are visited in their local area also once a week.

During one year they are helped to make a business, that can sustain them and their family, which is normally their children. We mainly help women, whose men have left them on their own. The women also support each other, and even women from earlier years help their new ”sisters”.

Our intensive workshop starting the new 2016-group, was a suc-cessful one, with 5 instructors on board, including Dr Christopher Kapembwa, Godfrey Mwashi, Griselia Msoni Kapembwa, Mort-son B Kasoma, James Peter and Pr Kamunema. Topics were relevant to the oc-casion and included lectures on Entrepreneurship, Chicken Rea-ring, Savings, Health and Fitness, 5 Laws of Gold and principles on how to succeed.

The graduation day comprised 15 women, with 10 that attended in the last years’ graduation. The 10 were motivated to come and support their friends with the gifts that were presented to them last year, including certificates and clo-

thes. They did provide good testimonies to their fellows who also felt so encouraged and felt good to be part of this great group.

This years’ group looks sharper and more focused and have such a zeal to work to enhance their own businesses. We are happy because this was yet another great sele-ction of women who feel happy about what they are involved in, the Dream Factory dream.

To enhance further excitement, we had a program to go through previous women who have parti-cipated in the program since 2012 and it is so impressive to see most of them doing better things like building their own simple houses and shops, and still running their own businesses. Other have found jobs in town due to certificates that Dream Factory offered them at graduation and still others have found jobs as maids whilst main-taining their small businesses. This is quite helpful to supporting their families.

The chicken project is also doing fine. We are currently keeping 100 chickens at a time and hope to increase that to 300 as funds get

raised.

There are challenges though with women having a lot of children who in most cases they fail to fully support. There is need for further health training especially in child spacing and support. We have a community school where we try to involve the chil-dren and keep them busy. We do not have a properly trained teacher though the current one is doing the best she can.

Malaria, aside from houses falling due to bad drainage, has had a major effect on the business un-dertaking by women.

All in all, we are happy to have this department which is working to empower the women in our community and it is great to know that people like you reading this article are helping to put a smile on somebody’s face.If we can dream it, we can do it!

Jasmin Helledie, volunteer in 2015 and 2016Dreaming about making a dif-ference and experience Zambia, then Dream Factory is waiting for you.

I stayed at Dream House for 2

months. Through my stay I helped teaching Math, English and P.E at Byanthashi Community School. Beside that I helped every Wed-nesday at Art Club where every creative thinking is useful. Dream house is placed not far from the town and next to an affectionate and helpful Zambian family. They take you in as you were a part

of their own family, and you are always welcome in their house. It makes you feel safe, and then you always have someone to share your impressions with.

Do you wish to experience more of Zambia during your stay then the workers in Dream Factory are more than assistance in planning a trip with you. They helped me plan a trip to Livingstone, where there are plenty of opportunities to experience the African wildlife, Victoria Falls, villages and me-eting other travelers.

I chose to travel alone to challen-ge myself in unfamiliar areas. By travelling alone you are forced to talk to new people, make decisions on your own and rely on your own abilities. I have never regretted that decision. I have learned in-credible new things about myself as a human being, and I will never trade this experience for anything.Zambia is such an amiably coun-try with cheerful and openhearted people. It is definitely recommen-dable!

Volunteering in Dream Factory

5) We see that our volunteers return enriched back home with a whole new perspective on the world - and they are spreading the word about Zambia, development work and Dream Factory.

Q: What kind of work can you do as a volunteer in Dream Factory?

A: You can work with children at foster homes, teaching in schools, do after school activities in craft etc. Also you can participate in our football programme, training boys or girls. You can help in our womens project helping local families. We can arrange many things, so it comes down to your interests and abilities.

Q: Where do I find more information and who do I contact?

A: Find much more information on our webpage dreamfactoryzambia.org including contact information.

Q & A: About being a volun-teer in Dream Factory Zam-biaQ: What does ’volunteer’ really mean, and what can you experience as a volunteer in Dream Fac-tory Zambia?

A: ’Volunteer’ is a person, who vo-luntarily offers himself or herself for a service. In Dream Factory we

have always had volunteers, and the 5 main reasons why is:

1) Our volunteers makes a diffe-rence and bring joy and relevant help to many people in Zambia

2) Our volunteers provide our employees with new, fresh inputs and ideas

3) Our volunteers bring life and joy into the Dream House

4) We want to give our volunteers the experience of the *real* Africa, a lot of challenges and adventures to take with them in life. Meet local people and experience the daily lives of many zambians.

Our 3 latest volunteers, Laura, Amalie and Therese arranged a fundraising amongst friends and family back home. And bought school items such as pencils, erasers, paper and many other items that the children were missing. They also arranged a fun day with music, jumping castles and more, to give them a great and unique experience. You can see a video on our facebook page of their help to the children.

Impacting a 1000 young peopleWelcome to 2016. So much has already happened in Adopt a Club program. It seems like we are already half way into the year and yet we just concluded the first quarter of the year.

Our expectations have always been set so high. And as usual, we believe in our motto: ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’. We have been dreamers ever since and we have set goals in our minds and you will be happy to read this!

Our pitches are been made safe to play on and we are getting so modern with some of our pitches donated with goal posts and goal nets, a program considered major bearing in mind that less than 10% of com-munity teams are able to have their own goal nets and well set goal posts. I guess it all buoys down to costs. Adopt a Club has undertaken, since November last year, a program to ensure that at least 6 of the pitches are revamped and given a facelift, making it enjoyable and safe to plan on, among them Chi-lengwa-Superade Academy, Kampemba-Madalitso Wits, Kaloko-KC Academy, ENFYS-White Stars, Mufulira High School-Kashimoto Academy.

Notably, Kashimoto Academy in Mufulira prides itself in hosting this years’ Dream Tournament, surrounded by three pitches, two of which have been cleaned by Dream Factory Zambia, through its

support partner, Rotary Roskilde Denmark. That means we no longer need to hire expensive pitches elsewhere since we now have our own choice with Mufulira pitches, where we can safely have games been played in three to four pitches simultaneous-ly. It is a big plus for the project considering that such facilities are scarce and can be quite costly and inconveniencing to hire.

Se pictures from some of the pitches on the next page.

Our league has taken another level where we have graduated senior youth teams to various amateur leagues. Many of our teams in the project have created U12 teams, a move that we feel is good enough to start tapping talent earlier and ensuring that we holistically teach the child in their infancy. We are expectant of yet another great year ahead with an anticipation of making the 2016 annual Dream Cup national, where we hope to attract teams from other provinces in Zambia. Another twist in this years’ tournament is that it would be held in Mufulira, a move that we feel will carter for the greater needs of Mufulira who have long since hoped we could once hold a tournament in their area.

We have a greater faith that this year will be yet another exciting and fruitful year and that Adopt a Club will live to make alive the Dream Factory motto, ‘If you can dream it, you can do it’.

Dream Factory ZambiaIf You Can Dream It - You Can Do It

We exist to create a foundation for people`s future dreams by empowering them to be crea-tive, visionary and responsible to change their own life with this help.

Dream Factory Zambia is a non-profit making organisation, wanting to make a big difference for the youth of Zambia as well as families of single women and their children. The organisa-tion is based in Ndola, Zambia, and is founded by people from Zambia and Denmark. Dream Factory is supported by people, clubs and foundations mainly in Denmark.

Our strategy is to equip young role models who can show other young people the way to hope and a better future, and to empower women to sustain their families. We fuel the dreams of the Zambian people.
