FRIENDS OF POINCIANA VILLAGES

vs

ASSOCIATION OF POINCIANA VILLAGES

DISMISSED

One word, just one word, makes a difference. One word in a nearly 200 page court complaint got the FOPV vs Association of Poinciana Villages (APV), Avatar Properties, and Village One Association case dismissed on a technicality. The com-plaint’s first page listed;

Plaintiff, Friends of Poinciana Villages, is not-for-profit Florida corporation made up of residents of various Villages of Poinciana.....

The one word that caused a cascading list of objections and a fatal flaw was “residents.” The defendants’ attorneys argued that the APV was not beholden to the residents of Poinciana. The APV is beholden to the “homeowners” of Poinciana.

The defendants attorneys also pleaded that according to Florida State Statue the plaintiffs had to ask for mediation before filing a court complaint.

The defendants attorneys also argued and cited case law that showed that the error could not be corrected. They asked that the matter be dismissed with prejudice. Meaning that the complaint could never be filed again.

On April 7, 2016, Judge Larry Helms dismissed the case without prejudice, giving the plaintiffs 20 days to refile.

It is rumored that FOPV will file again.

UNHAPPY NPA VOTERS

During the March 15, 2016, presidential preference primary voting there were voters that didn't understand why they were not allowed to vote. Many said “I have a right to vote.” The main reason for not being able to vote was because they were registered as “NPA.” If you are registered as NPA it means “no party affiliation.”

Florida is a Closed Primary State. State law says only members of the Democratic Party may vote in a Democratic Primary

Election, and only members of the Republican Party may vote in a Republican Primary Election. These “closed primary

elections” is where Registered Democratic and Republican voters choose their nominee for President.

If your voter registration card shows your party as “NPA” and you want it changed you should contact your county board of elections office.

CORPORATE GREED UNWITTINGLY DESTROYED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

The Republican Party Is About To Implode

The Party itself despises its own two leading presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. This is a remarkable oddity just in itself and unprecedented. But there is a damn good reason for it. Both of these can-didates are so skewed, extreme and disastrous that they will almost certainly never be able to win a national election for the Republican Party.

But much worse, if and when one of these candidates does becomes the Republican Party’s nominee for presi-

dent, the Party could very well be torn asunder into warring factions.

This could devastate the Party for years or even decades to come. So the Republican Party now finds itself teetering on the precipice of disintegration.

The Republicans, however, have no one to blame but themselves. This is a crisis of their own creation. And it didn’t just happen over-

night. It is a situation they let spiral out of control.

The Republican Party has been fomenting anger and discontent in the base of its own Party for years. The mech-anism through which this hate has been disseminated has been the network of extremist media of right-wing talk radio and the Fox News Channel, which is essentially talk radio transposed onto television.

Just think of all the right-wing “superstars” who spew propaganda messages of anger and hate every single day

throughout the land over this enormous megaphone. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingra-

ham, Ben Shapiro, Dana Loesch, Bill O’Reilly, and Sean Hannity, to name a few.

And make no mistake, spewing hate has a significant impact upon society.

The audience begins to adopt a worldview consistent with these messages, regardless of the degree of truth. It is a remarkable phenom-

enon.

History has many examples of how propaganda can be very effective in altering the views of a population. Nazi Germany in the 1930’s

is a classic example.

For years, Hitler inundated the German population with a stream of consistent messages that the German Aryans were the superior master race of all humans, and that Germany was under imminent threat of destruction by foreign enemies. The German population began to adopt this perverse and paranoid worldview as truth, and a national war machine was born.

In America today, the right-wing media network is engaged in this very same activity through Fox News and extremist talk radio. This

network is constantly barraging its audience with a stream of consistent messaging. And this messaging is overwhelmingly negative and

destructive.

The messaging consists of common themes that recur over and over in various forms. One central theme is a fierce opposition against government, especially so called “big government.”

Another common theme is the fear of foreigners, or outsiders. We must protect our own in-group from the vague and mysterious threats posed by those who are a little bit different from us. The particular targeted group changes with the times and this time the xenophobic have targeted Mexican immigrants. But the concept remains the same.

This cunning ploy makes no sense whatsoever. But it doesn’t need to make any sense. It just needs to instill fear, an-

ger, and discontent.

So why would the Republican Party devise such a strategy that has no hope of success? Well, it turns out that they did not devise this

strategy. In fact, it’s not even a strategy at all. It emerged not as a result of a grand Republican master plan, but rather, it emerged as

a result of market economics. But some Republicans have taken a hold of the concept and ran with it and other Republicans are afraid

to deviate from it.

The extremist right-wing network of Fox News and talk radio was not created by politicians, and it is not funded by a political party. It

is not supported by donations from people seeking political expression. No. It was created for one central purpose: to make money.

The founding motivation and the driving force behind all of this propaganda of hate and anger that is being disseminated throughout our society is nothing more than the almighty dollar. The profit motive. It is a business. Pure and simple. For the love of money is the root of all evil. (Continued on page 4)

CORPORATE GREED UNWITTINGLY DESTROYED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

And, as it turns out, the business of peddling hate and anger is a fantastically profitable one at that.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and Bill O'Reilly, collectively generate over $250 million per year

in advertising revenue.

If these front-men are making this much money, well then you know that their corporate masters are making

even more.

This is Big Business.

It is no joke. We are not talking about some folks just yearning to express their opinions. No. This operation is not being driven by politics or by a desire to promulgate political viewpoints. No. This operation is being driven by money. Big Money. This is what it’s all about.

Of course, politics is involved as well. No doubt. The content spewed by this media network is highly political in nature and it champi-

ons right-wing issues, right-wing politicians, and the right-wing Republican Party. This is no accident. In fact, it makes perfect sense

when viewed through an economic perspective.

Corporate profits are greatly impacted by governmental policies. Corporations, therefore, desire the govern-

ment to be controlled by whichever political party is the most favorable to corporate profits. And this, of

course, is the Republican Party. So it makes perfect sense that this extremist media network would use its

megaphone to attempt to influence politics by urging support for the right-wing Republican Party.

Corporate profits is what led to the creation and expansion of this extremist right-wing media network. And it

is indeed a cozy little business model. The network builds an audience by appealing to people’s fear, insecurity, and anger, and simulta-

neously directs its audience to support the right-wing political party that best protects the network’s own profits.

It’s like a rigged game. The content disseminated over the network masquerades as being objective and informative, but in reality the

content has instead been carefully designed to promote the network’s own business interests.

Pretty nifty.

What is best for corporate profits, however, is not necessarily best for a democratic society.

Responsible politicians certainly know better and would never endorse any enterprise seeking to inflame anger and hostility in the pop-

ulation.

But politicians in the Republican Party could not resist. The extremist right-wing network of Fox News and talk radio had built up an

audience that could easily be exploited for political support. Even though the extremist media network was fomenting anger and hatred

that is disastrous for society overall, the network could also be used to deliver political votes to Republican politicians.

And there it was. The Republican Party had made a deal with the devil.

An unholy alliance was formed. The Republican Party would allow the extremist right-wing network to promulgate its destructive

propaganda throughout society in order to generate its enormous profits, and in exchange, the network would direct its audience to vote

for the Republican Party.

And guess what? It worked. A cunning ploy.

The base of the Republican Party grew more and more angry. Their resentment against our very own govern-

ment grew ever greater. Their sense of victimization became ever more acute. Their fury at the establishment

boiled over and they now needed a leader to carry their message.

And then, predictably, it backfired (Continued on page 5)

CORPORATE GREED UNWITTINGLY DESTROYED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

The base of the Republican Party became a Frankenstein. It became radicalized into an extreme movement that turned against the

established order, including the leadership of the Republican Party itself. It has become a monster of its own that is now roaming the

countryside and terrorizing the very political party that created it.

This is the reason behind the rise of candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. The Republican Party establishment despises these

candidates, but the Party has no idea how to slay these dragons.

These candidates now pose the enormous threat of potentially causing a giant split within the Party that could lead to the utter destruc-

tion of the entire Republican Party itself.

It is a remarkable story.

The Republican Party has enjoyed its dance with the devil. Now it must pay the piper.

On the other hand, Hillary Clinton's, according the CBS/NY Times poll, is being viewed negatively at historic levels. Clinton has a 52%

unfavorable rating and Trump 57%.

God bless our wonderful country.

FOUR CONCEALED CARRY GUNS UNVEILED AT “SHOT” SHOW (From Technology Fox News)

The SHOT Show is the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries.

Concerned about personal protection?

Here’s a look at four new concealed carry guns.

Walther PPS M2 in 9mm

James Bond carried Walther-made handguns … and for civilians who need a serious concealed carry option, the company has taken the highly popular PPS Classic and taken it to the next level.

Very slim at one-inch wide, the Walther PPS M2 in 9mm is also extremely lightweight at 21.1 ounces when empty. It is 6.3-inches long and a mere 4.4-inches high with the shortest magazine in place.

Accurate, comfortable and easy to conceal … three key criteria for daily carry that the PPS M2 has in spades. Details like rounded contours aid snag-free draw

Chambered in 9mm and .40 S&W, there’s a smooth, light 6.1 pound trigger pull. The grip has a non-slip surface. The push-button magazine release is designed to be more intuitive than the PPS and there are three magazine options: six, seven and eight-round.

A law enforcement version, the PPS M2 9mm LE Edition, will come equipped with phosphoric sights and three magazines.

Both editions will become available early 2016 with the .40 S&W available in the Spring.

Kimber K6s Revolver

Kimber Mfg. Inc. has created an answer for folks looking for a new concealed carry in a small frame, lightweight, comfortable wheel gun.

Unveiled this week, the K6 is a new six-round .357 Magnum revolver.

Weighing in at a tiny 23 ounces, this revolver packs a whole lot of engineering into a very compact package machined in stainless steel. The K6 is 4.46-inches high and 6.62-inches long with a two-inch long barrel. Aiding a discreet carry, the width is narrow with a 1.39-inch cylinder diameter.

The rubber grip is designed for secure handling and the trigger has a 9.5 to 10.5 pound pull.

To help reduce snagging when quick drawing from a concealed position, the internal hammer and edges are rounded.

Colt Lightweight Commander

Fan of the 1911? Then Colt’s enhanced Lightweight Commander, debuting at SHOT, is a great concealed carry option.

The new gun is lighter and shorter than the Commander designed for government users.

Like the Combat Commander, it has a 4.25-inch barrel. There’s a black anodized aluminum frame, blued car-bon steel slide, custom Colt G10 grips and Colt’s Dual Spring Recoil System.

The Lightweight Commander will become available in both a .45 ACP model with an eight-round magazine ca-pacity and the 9mm that holds 9 rounds.

New features include a skeletonized trigger and extended safety lever. Colt also introduced Novak sights and a beavertail grip safety.

The new gun is expected to retail for approximately $949.

Beretta

The PX4 Compact Carry, also revealed at SHOT Show, takes the Beretta 9mm PX4 Storm Compact to another level.

The trigger, the grips and even the night sights are enhanced. For improved concealment, the gun is narrower. The safety levers and slide stop are more low vis.

To enhance handling, the grips are Talon wrap around, the trigger pull is enhanced and there’s a bigger magazine release button.

While the price hasn’t been set yet, it is expected to become available to consumers this year.

US Supreme Court Upholds Total Population Count In Electoral Districts

WASHINGTON — A unanimous Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can count everyone, not just eligible voters, in deciding how to draw electoral districts. The justices turned back a challenge from Texas voters that could have dramatically al-tered political district boundaries and disproportionately affected the nation's growing Latino population.

The court ruled that Texas' challenged state Senate districting map, using total popula-tion, complied with the principle of "one person, one vote," the requirement laid out by the Supreme Court in 1964 that political districts be roughly equal in population.

The issue, though, was what population to consider: everyone or just eligible voters. The challengers said the districts had vastly different numbers when looking at eligible voters, in violation of the Constitu-tion.

"Jurisdictions, we hold, may design state and local legislative districts with equal total populations; they are not obliged to equalize voter populations," Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, summarizing her opinion for the court. Ginsburg said that "history, our decisions and settled practice in all 50 states and countless local jurisdictions point in the same direction."

Two rural Texas voters challenged the use of total population data in drawing state Senate districts because they said it in-flates the voting power of city dwellers at their expense.

In Texas, and other states with large immigrant populations, urban districts include many more people who are too young, not citizens or otherwise ineligible to vote. Civil rights groups said forcing states to change their method of constructing dis-tricts would have damaged Latino political influence. The court stopped short of saying that states must use total population. And it also did not rule on whether states are free to use a different measure, as Texas asked. Ginsburg said the court was not resolving whether states may use voter population. Richard Hasen, an expert in election law at the University of California at Irvine law school, said, "A contrary ruling would

have shifted power to Republican, rural districts, and away from Democratic urban areas."

Edward Blum, whose Project on Fair Representation (POFR) backed the lawsuit, said he was disappointed in the outcome, but predicted that "the issue of voter equality in the United States is not going to go away." Though the justices were unanimous in upholding Texas' use of total population, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito declined to join Ginsburg's opinion. Thomas said the Constitution gives the states the freedom to draw political lines based on different population counts. Refer-ring to the 1964 case of Reynolds v. Sims, he said the high court "has never provided a sound basis for the one-person, one-vote principle." Alito objected to Ginsburg's reliance on the Constitution's prescription for using the once-a-decade census to divvy up seats in the House of Representatives among the states. Alito said the history of congressional representation was the product of political compromise. "It is impossible to draw any clear constitutional command from this complex history," he said. The POFR, founded in 2005, is a not-for-profit legal defense foundation that is designed to support litigation that challenges racial and ethnic classifications and preferences in state and federal courts.

The mission of POFR is to facilitate pro bono legal representation to political subdivisions and in-dividuals that wish to challenge government distinctions and preferences made on the basis of race and ethnicity. POFR devotes all of its efforts to influencing jurisprudence, public policy, and pub-lic attitudes regarding race and ethnicity in four arenas: Voting, Education, Contracting, Employ-ment. Blum is a scorned politician. Mr. Blum does not like elections, he has lost two of them. He was a Republican nominee who in 1992 ran for Congress in Houston and lost, blaming it on racial gerrymandering. Blum doesn't think that it is fair that he lost in a congressional district that was 50 percent African-American.

He discovered what may be a more powerful instrument for advancing his beliefs: the court system.

Blum, a former stockbroker, unable to advance his beliefs as an elected politician, now uses POFR and his like thinking asso-ciates to advance his goals.

FIDEL CASTRO BLASTS PRESIDENT OBAMA’S CUBA TRIP

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, Fidel Castro, laid into Barack Obama big time after the US president's historic visit to Cuba in a testy newspaper column in Granma, the official newspaper of Cuba's communist party, saying the communist island doesn't need any "gifts from the empire."

The retired revolutionary, who has reacted with lack of passion to Cuba's rapprochement with the United States, belittled what he described as Obama's call to forgive and forget more than half a century of Cold War bad blood.

"Listening to the words of the US president could give anyone a heart attack," Castro wrote in his first public re-action to the visit.

"My modest suggestion is that he think and not try to theorize about Cuban politics," said the 89-year-old leader of the 1959 Cuban Revolution, who handed power to his younger brother Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz, Raúl Castro, in 2006.

Obama, who met Raul but not Fidel during his three-day visit, brazenly defied the regime's warnings not to get involved in Cuba's internal affairs. He daringly met with anti-Castro dissidents and called for democracy and greater freedoms.

"Voters should be able to choose their governments in free and democratic elections," he said in an unprecedented speech carried live on Cuba's tightly controlled state television.

Fidel Castro unabashedly lashed out at that speech, the symbolically charged centerpiece of the first visit by a US president in 88 years.

"Obama gave a speech in which he used the most syrupy words," he wrote, describing the long history of bitter relations between Havana and Washington as he defended the accomplishments of his 47-year rule.

"Nobody has any illusion that the people of this noble and selfless country will surrender glory and rights and the spiritual wealth that has come through the development of education, science and culture," Fidel Castro wrote.

"I would also warn that we are capable of producing the food and material wealth we need with the labor and the intelligence of our people. We don't need any gifts from the empire."

Fidel Castro stayed out of sight during Obama's entire visit, which aimed to cement the thaw announced in De-cember 2014 by the US president and Raul Castro, who has proven more reform-minded than his older brother.

Fidel Castro waited a month and a half to publicly give his blessing to the US-Cuban agreement, and then gave it only a halfhearted embrace.

Perhaps Fidel Castro doesn't want to relinquish his family's hold on the impoverish nation.

The United States and Cuba have since reopened embassies in each other's capitals and are slowly normalizing ties.

But several controversial issues remain unsettled, including the fate of the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, which Cuba wants back, and Washington's more than five-decade-old embargo on the island, which Obama has many times called on Congress to lift.

Democracy and greater freedom may just bring prosperity to the island.
