SCHOOL NEWSWe have had another busy two weeks in

school with lots of exciting activities

    happening. The children are getting

increasingly excited about the coming of

Christmas; we have started to practise

for the Infant and Junior Christmas

    productions with further details about

ticket availability for the Infants coming

    out this week.

Last week a police officer talked to the

children about being safe and theimportance of safe adults. We would like

your support to reiterate the message of

not talking to strangers (without scaring

them too much!). Please ask class

teachers if you would like to hear the

message that was given to the children,

so you can speak at the same level.

    Thank you for your questionnaire

responses and for the time you have

    spent on Ofsteds Parent View...please

have a look if you have not yet had

    chance.

    Despite the cold weather, the

children in Class 1 have been

outside being very creative. With the

    frosty weather today, the children

were particularly excited to find all

the ice they could...Im not sure

    about what the policeman would

think about the use of his hat

    though!

We have been doing a lot to inspire

the boys in the class with their

    learning - although inevitably the

girls join in too! Superheros have

been very much the order of the

week, with lovely writing being done.

    We have seen some amazing

    progress with children holding a

pencil properly in one week and

    lovely words being written.

    Three boys were particularly

inspired to build this tower out of off

cuts - why is it these sorts of things

are always the favourite items to

    play with?!

    ESAFETY

As part of our aims to safeguard the

children in the school, we regularly look

at the way the children use the Internet.

There are, of course, many opportunities

for the children to use the internet at

home and I know that many children

enjoy chatting to their friends in

    chatrooms, etc.

I would like to help the children make

good choices about their use of the

Internet and chatrooms, etc by asking a

police officer to come into school who is

    ISSUE 6 / AUTUMN TERM 2012 / THURSDAY 29TH NOVEMBER 2012

trained to work specifically with children to

support their use of ICT both in school and at

home. PC Karl Williamson will be working with

all the Junior children (Years 3-6) on Monday

    10th December.

    There is also a

    parents evening the

    same day, in school,

    from 6.30pm until

    8.00pm. PC

    Williamson will

    support you as

parents to enable the children to use

ICT safely and so that you are fully in

control of what the children are

    accessing. Feedback from other schools

say that these sessions for children and

parents are an excellent way to become

    more aware of the amazing

opportunities of using ICT and also the

    risks that may exist.

I will remind you nearer the time by

text, but I urge as many parents as

possible to attend this session in school

    on 10th December.

lanterns to take part in the annual Frodsham

Christmas Festival. This will be taking place this

Friday, full details can be seen on the following page.

We would love as many of our Year 3 and Year 4

children as possible to take their lanterns and join inthe Festival. They worked very hard to make them

earlier this week in school - well done!

    PTFA CHRISTMAS FAIR

There has been a lot of hard work going on in the background to make this years Christmas Fair the

biggest and best yet! Father Christmas is taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the children and

we have a large number of external stalls who have promised to display lots of exciting gifts that could

make lovely Christmas presents. Please make sure the date and time are in your diaries: Friday 7th

December - 5.00-7.00pm. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your support.

Can I also remind you of the request from the PTFA regarding match-funding. If you work for a

company who offers this, we would be really grateful for the support.

    ROAD SAFETY

I continue to receive complaints on a regular basis from members of the

community of Ashton Hayes. They are very concerned for the safety of

the children at the beginning and end of the school day due to speeding

cars and poor parking. I have tried to reassure the complainants that I

regularly ask parents to be careful around the front of school, and Iknow that you do take care.

Can I remind you of our joint responsibility to make

sure that all road users are safe, especially at this

time of year when the roads are wet or slippery and

the hours of daytime are shorter.

Water BottlesPlease ensure that the children have a clean water bottle in school every day.
