New Interface, Eco Manager and Advanced

Planning Available in IFS Applications 7.5 Sp4

IFS released service pack 4 for IFS Applications 7.5 on July 10, 2009. This new service pack will be

available for new installations and upgrades within the next couple of weeks. The usability-enhanced IFS Enterprise Explorer (IEE) user interface, a part of IFS' ongoing Aurora usability initiative, is released as part of this service pack. The IEE is a new access client that can be used along with the existing IFS Windows, Web and Mobile Clients. It eliminates the need for multiple executables, since a single IEE client can access all of IFS Applications based on user security. The IEE also eliminates the need in most cases for Citrix or Windows Terminal Server because it has a low bandwidth requirement and tolerates network latency. This makes it an ideal tool for those working away from the office where they may be moving between internet connections. Two new modules that are available within IFS Applications 7.5, service pack 4 are Eco-footprint Management and Advanced Planning Board(APB).

The Eco-footprint Management module allows use of existing data such as BoMs, routings, parts and suppliers, when calculating the environmental impact of a product. This gives customers the tool to meet various government regulations like; REACH, RoHS, WEEE, and the EUP Directive. Features include:

Saves history records for trend analysis.

Provides graphical means of worst-con-Tributors analysis.

Provides equivalent calculations for Global Warming Potential (GWP100), Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP100), Human Toxicity Potential (HTP), Eutrophication Potential (EP), Acidification Potential (AP) and Photochemical Ozone Creation Potential (POCP).

The Advanced Planning Board (APB) module provides a solution that increases focus on planners and the need for functional and graphical support during the scheduling process. Some of the capabilities of this new module include:

Puts the planner in control, no 'black box' scheduling or 'scheduling server locked by another user' issues.

Supports decentral ized planning and scheduling of one site divided into different planner areas, such as planner ID, production line and/or department.

TIPS & TRICKS

Question: Is it possible to change the name associated with a 'Person ID' once an employee's name has changed?

Solution: There are some important reasons why a Person ID can't be changed, but here are some guidelines to follow:

The Person ID gets used throughout the system and so updating it everywhere would be a large undertaking. Instead of using the employee's name, think about using random numbers to make up a 'Person ID.' For example set the Person ID to be the same as the employee number.

1.

You can open up the Person form and change the Name field to adjust to the persons new name.2.

The userID the employee uses to login will not be able to be changed, so it is recommended to set up a new UserID. Then you can go to the Person Form and in the UserID field, select the new UserID you just setup (you'll need to also setup the Security Roles on the new ID as well). You can then deactivate the other UserID.
