    WELCOME BACKI hope that you had an enjoyableholiday and managed to dodge the poor weather. We have a very busy fewweeks ahead of us in the last half termof the year.

    Some of the events are explained here -please make sure these dates are inyour diaries!

    School reports are also being written by

    teachers over the coming weeks andwill be distributed as soon as possible. Iwill also soon be in the position toannounce class structures and teachingstaff as I finalize the return to work for the three teachers currently onmaternity leave.

    JUBILEE CELEBRATIONSI would like to repeat my thanks to thePTFA and to St Johns Church whokindly funded the Jubilee Gifts given to

    the children before the half term holidayas a means of marking this specialoccasion in history. I was joined bymembers of the Church and Governorson Friday to present each child with thegifts. I talked about the importance of the occasion and hope that these gifts

    will be treasured for many years tocome. Thank you also to the parentswho have spoken to me personally,showing their appreciation for thesegifts being presented. Your feedback is

    always welcome.

    A few children missed this presentationon the last day of term. We will present

    the children with their gifts at the end of this week in our Celebration Assembly.

    Despite the cold and wet weather, I sawmany families turn out to thecelebrations in the village last weekend- which I hope you enjoyed! On behalf of the organisers, I would like to thankyou for your support and enthusiasm!

    SCARECROWTRAILUnfortunately,there has notbeen enoughsupport for this event this year;therefore the decision has been madeto cancel it, hoping that next year willsee more support. Thank you to NicoleWright for working hard to try to gainsupport.

    OLYMPIC SPORTS MORNING ANDEVENING

    I hope that you will be able to join us inour annual sports day - this year withan Olympic theme - on Thursday 28 th June.

    The main event will take place from 6pmwhere you are invited to bring a picnic tothe school field and watch the childrentake part in their races. The evening willstart with an opening ceremonyperformed by the junior children. Thechildren will be divided into teamsrepresenting different countries in theOlympic Games. The children will havethe opportunity to race against other children of the same or similar age,taking part in as many or as few racesas they would like. Each time they race,if they come first, second or third, theywill receive points towards their team.they will be awarded points towardstheir team.

    The evening is designed to be a bit of fun for the children with a competitiveedge and we hope as many parents willcome along to support the event. Weask that children are looked after by you

    as parents; the children will be called toraces as the evening progresses. Weanticipate that the evening will finish ataround 7pm. This event is dependentupon fine weather - we will have tocancel the event if the weather is poor for reasons of safety and we will contactyou by text as soon as possible, if this isthe case.

    Additionally, some field events will takeplace in the morning of the same day;

    again parents are welcome to comealong and support the children and anyhelp will be well received. This will startfrom around 9.30am for all children, for about an hour.

    GRANDPARENTS DAYOn Friday 29 th June...and not just for Grandparents, but a lovely opportunityfor all members of the children's familyto visit school to have a look at all thework they have been involved in thisyear; there is much to celebrate. It isalso a great opportunity for you asparents to view books to see progresssince the last parents evenings.

    This letter is all about Hey Day - our Summer Fair on June 30 th 12-3pm.

    Funds raised at this event will help to further develop theplayground area next to our new classrooms.

    Plans for Hey Day include: A-star sports coaching sessions, Bouncy castle, Face painting,May pole dancing, Chester FC mascot, Helsby High school band, Barbeque & Bar, Tea and

    cakes, Craft tent, raffle, stalls, field events and tons more!

    Now we need your help!!!

    We cannot run all the activities without your help. If you can spare half an hour to help

    on the day, please text Ruth Mason on 07985 117285 .Cake donations to be sold in the caf at Hey Day would be

    very gratefully received. Please send donations into school:Shop bought From Wednesday 27 th JuneHomemade - Friday 29 th June or Saturday 30 th June.

    We are excited about this years Olympic themed craft competition that the childrenalways enjoy taking part in. Full details of this are attached below.

    We need donations for the bottle tombola and raffle as outlined below.

    A drawing or pain/ng of your favourite Olympic sport (max size A4).

    A model of an Olympic torch using materials of your choice (e.g. junk, fabric, paper, foodetc.)

    The entry fee for each class is 50p. Please put this form and your entry fee, in cash, into asealed envelope and hand it in with your entry entries at school on Friday 29 June.
