Committee of St. Peter's (Wine Hill) is pleased to have completed

another successful year of SHEEP (Steeleville's Healthy Elementary Enrichment Program). Following Jesus' command in John 21 to "Feed my sheep," we provide bags of easy-to-prepare food to students at Steeleville Elementary and High Schools one weekend per month during the school year. A bag typically includes a few breakfast items (i.e. cereal bars, granola bars, oatmeal), a few other food items (i.e. ravioli, peanut butter and crackers, sausage, canned fruit, applesauce), some hygiene products (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush & toothpaste), and a certificate for milk or meat that can be redeemed at Dave's. About 25 students (representing 11 families) benefit from the program. The committee is preparing for the 2017-2018 school year. If you would like to support the program, you can pray for the volunteers that make it happen and the students and families who benefit, and make a financial donation. Checks should be made out to "SHEEP" and can be mailed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 11542 Wine Hill Rd, Steeleville, IL 62286

Pedal for a Purpose 2017 Over the last four years, cyclists for Pedal for a Purpose has raised over $95,000 for several Central/Southern

Illinois ELCA supported ministries. This year instead of a single bicycling event it was decided to invite congregations or clusters of congregations to develop additional events to help bring awareness throughout the synod. The Wartburg Parish held an event on May 21, 2017. It was a 34 mile ride connecting all five churches of the Parish, beginning at 10:00am at St. Johns Post Oak, to St. Peter's wine Hill, Peace Steeleville, St. John's Bremen and ending at Peace in Chester. There were 7 riders--Jason Helmers, Mitch Hammel, Kandy Hammel, Jason Hammel, Jeanna Hammel, Jayla Hammel, and Jerry Ohlau--that rode all or part of the route. There was $608 raised and this amount will be matched by an anonymous donor which means there will be $1,208 going to the Lutheran Social Services of Illinois programs. The donations will be presented at the Synod Assembly, but donations will be continued to be accepted. Thank you to all the riders and especially to everyone who donated and supported the riders. Watch for updates and information on next year's ride.
