was browsing through a book in a travel bookstall, trying to pick up something to read at the waiting lounge of the airport, and I

read the opening lines of the first chapter:

Once an elderly gentleman, an industrialist had an interesting placard placed at the edge of his table. It read, “ My time is

precious”....

I was amused and said to myself, “What a pompous man to think that only his time is precious”. I placed the book back on the

rack and sauntered out of the shop. But I couldn't stop pondering over the words I had encountered. Suddenly, the significance

of the words struck me and the profundity of the statement beamed at me through the haze of other words that crowded my

memory – It wasn't a statement of a selfish man who didn't value other peoples time, but the words of a man who cared – a person

who didn't like to waste other people's time – issuing a warning to many who don't value the worth of time -theirs or others.

We have all been told about the importance of time and we make a lot of noise about how we should value it and not squander it

away, but seldom do we really put it to practice – we value it as much as we value other people's money - with little respect. If we

truly value our time and utilize each minute of our waking hours fruitfully, then we automatically take care of other people's time

as well.

My dear students of Class X, as you are getting ready for another milestone in your life -gearing up for the Board Exams and

battling hard to win it with ease; who else, but you, understand the fleeting nature of time and wish that you could make Father

Time stand still while you prepare thoroughly. My advice to you would be,

Use your time judiciously and waste not a single moment of itSet daily goalsDraw up a time table to meet those goals

Make a check list of things to be done / lessons to cover

Set aside some time for relaxation

Work when you have to and play when you need to, don't waste time on idle talk remember that by doing so, you are wasting

someone else's precious time. The secret of success is in knowing how to manage your time well.

I wish you success in this examination and in all your future projects in life.

God Bless.

Class RenovationSt. Andrews though not an 'International School' has always offered the best infrastructure at an extremely affordable fee structure. The classrooms are being given a complete makeover; they now have vitrified tiled walls and flooring with huge charts and wall storage units adorning the walls. Each class has a sliding blackboard with a 42 inch LCD display unit with on-line connectivity. Teachers can use in-house developed study material as well as the internet to help students learn better. This renovation is being done by taking a few classes at a time and by the end of the next academic session, the complete junior school would be ready with ‘smart classes’. As usual no part of this very expensive renovation and makeover is not passed on to our parents.

Prayer ServiceA Prayer Service was conducted in the school auditorium for the students of Class X who would soon be appearing for the Board Exams. Our Director, Mrs. H. Emanuel and Bro. Learoy Roderigues, who conducted the service, encouraged the students on discovering their inner soul and act upon it. Their advice was to make a career but at the same time serve humanity and family while keeping our core value system intact. The service concluded with the lighting of candles as a symbol of God's light guiding their future steps.

Book ExhibitionTo inculcate a habit of reading amongst our students, a book exhibition was organized in the school premises. It was heartening to see the children browse through the available books and get glued to the ones that caught their interest.

Flood ReliefAndrewites showed their concern for the flood-affected victims of Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh by collecting 71 bags of rice, 11 bags of pulses and hundreds of blankets. These items were handed over to the Bharat Scouts and Guides of the South Central Railways for distribution.

Sick BayNow our Marredpally branch has a brand new sick room with Mrs. Susamma Arun as the Nurse-in-Charge. She has a Diploma in General Nursing from Royal training College, Hyderabad and has 16 years of experience in hospitals in the country and in the U. A. E. as well. Children walk upto her without any fear as her smiling face and comforting voice reassures the little ones that they are in safe hands.

Xtreme ShowThrilling stunts and foot tapping music took the temperature in school a notch higher! The Moto Cross BMX Riders - Xtreme (USA) performed daring stunts on bicycles on our school playground much to the joy and excitement of our students. A dynamic music band accompanied them and put on a great show as well.

Farewell PartyThe Farewell Party oragnised by our teachers and the students of Class IX for the outgoing Class X students had loads of entertaining performances and merry-making. But it was also a time for the seniors to reminiscence their experiences with nostalgia and thank the teachers for the important role that they had played in moulding their life in school. The senior cabinet body also handed over its responsibilities to the succeeding cabinet members by donning the customary sash and badge for them. The juniors in turn expressed their gratitude to the seniors for being their idol and inspiration and promised to carry the baton ahead. Wistful remarks from our outgoing students:

“Being in school was like heaven on earth.”“I will miss my teachers who nurtured and cared for me.”“I thank my Alma Mater for teaching me to always aim for the moon because even if I fall, I will be among the stars.”

Christmas PartyWinter break marked the end of another hectic term for our dedicated teachers. A party was organized for our teachers by the school management to usher in the season of Love, Joy and Peace and the New Year. The teachers looked gorgeous in lovely outfits and beautiful smiles and the occasion was complete with games, songs, dances, gifts, food, and of course lots of laughter.

Children's DayChildren's Day was truly a day for our children as they enjoyed a great show put up by their teachers who acted as children on that day. The 'students', i.e. the teachers actually, looked every bit like students, dressed up in the school uniform. The appreciation from the Andrewites was clearly apparent as they cheered and clapped for their dear teachers.

Staff PicnicTeachers Day Out! Our teachers went on a day's trip to a renowned resort in the city. They enjoyed a day of relaxation and leisure which was of course a break from their routine. Some even enjoyed a game or two by flexing their muscles and bringing out the 'child' in them. They returned with renewed vigour to carry on with the last term of the session.

Teachers’ TrainingOur teachers have been undergoing exhaustive training sessions being conducted by Chief Trainer, Mr. Stanley Fernandez on Improving Teacher Student Relationship and Communication, Motivating Students, Behavioural Management, Learning-Centric Classrooms, Being Professional Teachers, Identifying Learning Disabilities and Behavioural Problems. One-to-one sessions with Principal/Vice Principal were also conducted by Mr. John Heidgen, CEO, on Stress Management, Interpersonal Relationship, Group Dynamics and Team Building, Conflict Management, Communication in Organisation, Leadership, Time Management and Motivation to help them become effective administrators as far as the school is concerned.

UN DeclamationSt. Andrews hosted the U. N. Council Celebrations by conducting the U.N. Declamation Competition. Eight schools participated in this Inter – School Elocution competition in all the three languages - English, Hindi and Telugu. The topic was 'If I were the President of India – What would my contribution be towards Peace' and our students bagged the first prize in all the categories!

Youth For ServiceThis Christmas season, saw the young Andrewites learn to give beyond their limitations and our expectations. The YFS members collected soaps, toothpastes, toothbrushes, biscuits and other necessities from all the students and went to the various old-age homes and orphanages to distribute them. It made them feel really blessed when the recipients thanked them when they received the gifts and hampers.

OlympiadsScience and Maths Olympiads were held in the school for the first time for students of Class II – IX. Overall results have been good and some of the toppers have moved on to the second round of tests. Cyber Olympiad too had its share of success. The Ministry of Environment and Forests conducted the 'Green Olympiad' where N. L. A. Spoorthy of Class IX won the Gold Certificate for scoring above 75% in the exam, Six participants won the Sliver Certificate for scoring 65-75% while the remaining 23 students received participation certificates.

Mini Sports DayA Mini Sports Day was organized for the junior school children on Children’s Day in both the branches. The day had numerous fun filled games and races for different classes. The highlight of the day was a spectacular drill display by the young ones who performed in unison with their props and in tempo with the music. This was followed by exclusive class-wise celebrations where students renewed their commitment to perform in academics.

Career Counselling Dr. Sanjib Kumar Acharya, Director of 'Career Counsellor' came with his team from Pearson and Longman Books to conduct a seminar on 'How to select a career' for our Class X students. He gave essential guidelines and important tips to these students who would be leaving school shortly to pursue their chosen vocations elsewhere.

Amazing Story of India's Freedom Struggle' as part of their Dramatics and Public Speaking curriculum. The entire show was spread over three days with different episodes reflecting scenes ranging from 'The Great Uprising of 1857' to 'Dandi March and Attainment of Swaraj'. The whole campus came alive with the spirit of patriotism and nationalism as the enactment brought to light the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.
