CERA, the fastest growing home solutions leader, has been awarded the best

mid-sized company, by Nav Gujarat Samay and The Times of India. The award

was presented at a function in Ahmedabad by Gujarat's Finance Minister, Mr.

Saurabh Patel and Education Minister, Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.

The awards were considered for those companies registered in Gujarat. To

shortlist the winners, inputs were taken from Centre for Monitoring Indian

Economy (CMIE). The inputs were calibrated on statistical and qualitative

parameters by the Nav Gujarat Samay editorial team.

A jury of eminent people comprising of Mr. P K Laheri, Mr. Chinubhai Shah

and Mr. Sunil Parkeh deliberated on the inputs and created a shortlist of 5

entries. Considering all the aspects, the jury then decided on the winners,

which was attested by a Delphi panel comprising of Mr. Deepak Parekh, Lord

Bhikhu Parekh and Mr. Y K Alagh.

CERA with its impressive compounded annual growth of over 35% in the

past several years, was the winner among the mid-sized companies.

Accepting the award, CERA's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Vikram

Somany said: “CERA will pursue its growth trajectory in the coming years too

and be ahead of its competition”.

With the on-going expansion in both its Faucetware and Sanitaryware

plants, and the addition of floor and wall tiles, CERA's growth would

certainly continue.

The Award Ceremony of the 'Architecture+Design & CERA Awards 2014' was recently held in Istanbul, Turkey – the city of great historical and architectural relevance. Architecture+ Design, a premier national journal of architecture, partnered with CERA, to celebrate and recognize excellence in architecture. Iconic figures from the Architectural fraternity were present like the acclaimed Turkish architect Dogan Hasol; internationally acclaimed architect and the ex-secretary general of the Aga Khan Awards – Dr Suha Ozkan was the guest of honour. Jatin Das graced the occasion as a special guest. One of the highlights of the event was a grand painting created by Jatin Das, which was up for auction at the end of the function. The thought-provoking ideas and inspiring talks of the speakers impressed over 150 architects from India who travelled to Istanbul for this significant event in the architectural fraternity.

The event commenced with the inauguration of the exhibition of the winning projects and a few projects of some emerging Turk ish architects. Dr Suha Ozkan inaugurated this interesting display. Before the awards presentation, Mr. Vikram Somany, Chai rman and Managing Director, CERA, greeted the audience with his welcome note.

Architect Dogan Hasol, who presided as the chief guest, addressed the audience and shared some similarities between India and Turkey saying, “My opinion in general is that India is not only a country of democracy and tolerance, but a country of unique architecture as well.” He further elaborated, “I couldn't help but notice that there are similarities between India and Turkey. For example they share Eastern cultural values and attachment to traditions. Another similarity can be found between the planning process of Chandigarh as the new capital of Punjab and the formation of Ankara as the new capital of the Republic of Turkey.” Elucidating about Istanbul as one of the most outstanding cities in history, he said, “It was the capital of three empires throughout many centuries with its extraordinary beauty, with its cultural and historical legacy.”

World renowned critic William J R Curtis, a historian, a painter and a photographer has won the most exalted Golden awards for Global Contribution in Architecture. He captivated the audience with his anecdotes when he narrated his passionate journey of architecture.

Corporate Social Responsibility is an initiative to assess and claim responsibility for the company's effects on the environment and impact on social welfare. It is a commitment to developing policies that integrate responsible practices into daily business operations. CERA has strived to make continuous efforts in the direction of social upliftment. It is involved in an array of activities to promote education, health and women empowerment.

Education Programmes & Scholarships

To achieve the motive Empowerment through Education, CERA Foundation promotes educational classes (3rd to 10th Standard) in various core subjects like Maths, Science, Social Science, English and Computer education.

CERA Foundation also provides scholarships for bright students who aspire to be in the Engineering/Medical fields as the courses are very expensive. Under the aegis of this programme scholarships have been provided to more than 50 students who have applied for Engineering and Medical courses.

Corporate Social Responsibility in today's era holds greater significance as it plays a facilitating role in India's socio-economic development. Empowering tomorrow with CERA Foundation

Health Programmes

CERA Foundation conducts regular health checkup programmes. 152 people from the surrounding areas were covered under this programme.

The CERA Foundation sponsors Medical Aid on monthly basis for the elderly.

In August 2014, CERA Foundation conducted medical camps for approximately 2800 children across all Government schools with the help of Care Hospital, Kadi.

Physical well-being

A two week Yoga Shibir was organised by the CERA Foundation in November 2014.

The Foundation helps almost 200 women staying at various remote locations around Kadi for learning various skills like tailoring, beautician courses, hand embroidery and cooking. This enables them in becoming self-sufficient and independent.

Development Forum on the topic Sustainable Development of Indian

ceramic industry. He analyzed the entire production process and how

optimum utilization of resources was possible at the base level.
