Principal’s Message
Congratulations to all our Easter
Raffle prize winners! Many thanks to
all those who supported the raffle
again this year. I do hope everyone
enjoyed the long weekend and the beautiful
weather we had for it.
Judy has returned from her leave this week and I
would like to thank Jenny Lewis for her support in
the relieving role whilst Judy was away.
I commence leave on Monday 4th April, returning
after the school holidays. Ian Hughes (Lead
Principal) will be based at Middle School that
week and Judy Mouthaan will also be my
nominated delegate.
We enjoyed a fabulous day of performances last
Wednesday for Harmony Day. We had Greg
from Swag Full of Instruments perform again this
year. Students enjoy the variety of musical
instruments he brings and dancing along to his
songs. At lunch time there was a wonderful
performance from the Callaghan College
Indigenous performance group. Students were
in awe of the dancers and didgeridoo
performances. Thank you to Pratibha for
organising another great day celebrating cultural
diversity.
As this will be our last newsletter for the term, I
would like to wish you all safe and relaxing
holidays.
Thanks for your ongoing support of our wonderful
students. I look forward to catching up with
everyone when school resumes.
Please note Diary Dates for student return date.
Monday 25th April is a Public Holiday (ANZAC
Day), Tuesday 26th April is Staff Development
Day Term 2 and students resume Wednesday
27th April.

Office News
Uniforms
We currently have a small supply of winter shirts
and jackets in the office (See attached list).
If you require any of these items for the cooler
months please ask at the office or via your child’s
communication books.
If you require any sizes that are not listed we will
be placing an order in next week.
Don’t forget that we also now have eftpos
facilities if this helps.

year.
The official book
launch is this
afternoon and the
books will be here

If you, family or friends are thinking of purchasing
one this year, please keep the school in mind.
The school receives a commission from the sale
of each book.
School Photos
Our school photos are being taken Wednesday
11th May (Week 3).
Photo payment envelopes will go home early
next term. Please send the envelopes back to
school by photo day as late payments may incur
a finding fee from the photographers.
If you will require two payment envelopes please
let school know.

Friends News
BBQ Bunnings at Kotara
Saturday 7th May at Kotara Bunnings - Thank you
to our fabulous families who have offered to assist
on the day - also to those families who offered for
the October BBQ which we unfortunately have had
to cancel.
Easter Raffle
Thank you to all our wonderful families, staff and
friends who donated to our Easter Raffle this year.
Congratulations Bayley Ciba who won first prize in
the Easter Raffle.
Cadbury Chocolate Drive
Notes went home last week to see if families would
like to take chocolates home to sell. Chocolates will
be delivered in week 1 of term 2.

Excursion to Hunter Valley Zoo
Yesterday, 11 students went to Hunter Valley Zoo.
We saw the meerkats, wombat, echidnas, red belly
black snake, tapir, flying foxes, birds like macaws,
several different monkeys, a tortoise and a
rhinoceros iguana. Next we saw the ostriches,
Tasmanian devils, dingos and wallabies.
We fed the kangaroos, farm animals and deer’s. It
was a bit scary when they ate out of our hands, but
it only tickled.
They loved the ice cream cones the best. Isaac, Bill
and Sam loved talking to the cockatoo. Savannah
was very interested in the camels.
We saw the lions get fed as well as the American
alligators being fed dead chickens to eat, feathers
and all (yuck). The maned wolves came out to play.
We got to pat the koala.
The students (Briar, Isaac, Jack, Bayley, Mia,
Savannah, Declan, Sam, Saxon, Liam and Chris)
enjoyed our experience at the Hunter Valley Zoo.
We learnt lots of information about the animals.
