GOLDEN JUBILEEOFCHEMICAL ENGG. DEPARTMENT
The Chemical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute ofTechnology Roorkee (erstwhile University of Roorkee) is celebrating itsGolden Jubilee Year. Various activities including a Workshop, an alumnimeet, an International Conference and a number of invited lectures havebeen planned during the period August 2012 to July 2013. A Workshopon Future Trends in Chemical Engineering is being organized on August18, 2012. Imminent personalities in Chemical Engineering, such as, Dr.Ajay Mathur, Director General Bureau of Energy Efficiency , Govt. ofIndia, New Delhi; Shri Anil Dhussa, Director, Ministry of New andRenewable Energy, Govt. India, Prof. R.P. Chhabra, Department ofChemical Engg. IIT Kanpur and Prof. Sanjeev Gupta, Department ofChemical Engg., IISc. Bangalore delivered the keynote addresses in theWorkshop. Prof. H. Sinvhal, Dy. Director, IIT Roorkee was the ChiefGuest and he inaugurated the Workshop. Prof. V.K. Agarwal, Head,Department of Chemical Engg. presided over the function.
The workshop was also attended by old teachers who have retired,such as, Prof. S.C. Gupta and Prof. S.D. Bhattacharya. Shri Sanjeev K.Singh, Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation, Panipat also gracedthe occasion as a special guest.
The workshop was sponsored by Bureau of Energy Efficiency,IREDA, NTPC, IOCL Panipat, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., ITC Ltd. EsterIndustries, Ambuja Cements, Reckitt & Benckiser, Hindustan Zinc Ltd.,Shree Cements. Mr. Arun Kapur, an alumni of first batch of theDepartment, which graduated in the year 1967, also sponsored theevent.
More than 100 delegates from various industries as well asacademic and research organizations from North India participated inthis Workshop.
