New Life For Youth’s

When Victor and Carmen Torres began New Life For Youth from their small home 45 years ago, they prayed for the young lost people who hadn’t even crossed their path yet.. From those small beginnings came a ministry that has been used to save many thousands of lives over 4 decades …and even back then, God was thinking of Joey and Keila.

GOOD, GOOD FATHER: Keila’s Story“My dad was an addict and very abusive. My par-ents split up when I was little, but my step-dad was no better; when he drank, I became a walking bulls-eye. When I was 9, he spit on the ground, looked down at me and said, “THAT is all you’re worth.” I believed him. I started cutting my-self and attempted suicide numerous times landing me in and out of psych wards for the next 10 years.

When my biological father was sentenced to 42 years in prison, my dreams for reconciliation were shat-tered. Then I fell in love with a man who introduced me to cocaine and Oxycontin. I was locked in the basement with the dog for days at a time and I en-dured countless beatings to the point where my own mother didn’t recognize me.

Eventually, I was facing jail-time, had 3 little girls who barely knew me & a family who couldn’t trust me. I despised myself, but God saw value in me. I came to The Mercy House on April 7, 2015, and I found TRUE love for the first time in my life. God has restored everything as His word promises He will. I now have a bond with my children, an amazing relationship with my mother and I’ve made friendships at The Mercy House that will last a lifetime.”

Helen Keller was once asked, “What would be worse than being born blind?” to which she replied “Having sight without a vision.”

The lives of the young men and women who come to New Life For Youth were once ruined; NOW, bolstered by the prayers of family and friends, they are being taken far past the goal of not ruining their lives to not WASTING them. God is wanting to accomplish a greatness in each of our lives that is completely out of human reach, but is exactly what He has seen in us all along.

We at NLFY are determined, with your help, to position each of these young people to catch not just A vision, but THE vision God has for their future. We help them develop the tools they need to fulfill that vision in God’s power.

We are in the fight of our lives to bring people from a place of shame and brokenness to a trusting relationship with God, who can redeem their tattered pasts for an extraordinary purpose and for His glory. It’s a collaborative effort, one that we know you, like us, are honored to be a part of. Watch more of Keila’s
