College Profile
V.S.R. Government Degree & P.G. College was established in 1984. This
College has been established in order to cater to the educational needs of the
rural students from the surrounding villages of Movva Mandal. The land of
the college has been donated by the Local Philanthropists. The motto of the
College is to focus on the objectives of education to the students from the rural
communities, thereby imparting skills of employability to meet the job
opportunities and to mould themselves as the responsible citizens of India.
The College has been offering 10 UG and 3 PG Programmes.
The College is covered under 2f and 12 B of UGC Act 1956 and getting
general development grants since 1992. At present the College is affiliated to
Krishna University, Machilipatnam.
The vision of the College:
To contribute to the advancement of knowledge through teaching,
research, publications and dissemination and to train students to acquire good
communication skills and leadership qualities so as to mould them to be global
citizens.
The College has been offering relevant, needbased courses from time to
time. The College went for first accreditation in 2004 andwas awarded “B‟
Grade and Second accreditation in 2011 and was awarded “B‟ Gradewith 2.56
CGPA and third accreditation in 2017 and was awarded “A‟ grade with 3.01
CGPA.
MICROSOFT UPSKILLING PROGRAMME
Microsoft Up Skilling Programme, a New Initiative of APSCHE to
empower employability skills among students. The courses are categorized
into Technical / Computer Science and other conventional type. Students after
completion of these courses in a prescribed format and process in stipulated
time will get a certificate and may get an opportunity with a job offer of
30,000/- PM by Microsoft. Total 138 students got registered from our college in
this programme.

WORKSHOPS/CONFERENCES/SEMINARS/WEBINARS
Three faculty members of English Department participated in One Day
International Virtual Conference on Research Methodologies of Contemporary
Times: Exploring English Language, Literature and Teaching on 5th February
2022 organised by SRR & CVR Government Degree College (A), Vijayawada.
The outcome of this programme is that the faculty can be able to
comprehend fundamental principles for research and guidance and also
methodologies in Inter Disciplinary, Cultural and English Language Teaching
(ELT).
ORCHARD MANAGEMENT & MAINTENANCE
Orchard management refers to the management of the orchard soil in such a
manner that the fruit trees give higher yield of quality fruits in successive years for
sustainable economic returns.
Department of Botany organised a training programme on “Orchard
Management & Maintenance” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ghantasala Mandal
(Dist-Krishna) for II & III B.Sc (BTBC & BZC) students from 7th February 2022 to
14th February 2022 The Resource persons for this programme were Dr.K.Jhansi,
Programme Coordinator, Dr. Manju Vani, Hoticulture Scientist, Krishi Vigyan
Kendra, Ghantasala and Dr.P.Srilatha Principal Scientist, Agriculture
Extension, Krishna District.
The Objectives of this programme are:
To provide information on Orchard Management & Maintenance and
propagation techniques of fruit crops
To provide training to handle various grafting methods and
To make the students aware of getting loans for Employment and
Marketing opportunities.
It was a very educative and enriching programme and at the end
of this training programme students were able to learn grafting
techniques, high density plantation in fruit crops and they were aware
of marketing strategies, getting loans, subsidies etc. All the students
were issued certificates on their successful completion of 7 days training
programme on “Orchard Management & Maintenance.

CAMPUS RECRUITMENT DRIVE
JKCs established in degree colleges provided with a world class infrastructure and
experienced faculty and totally encourages students to be creative, independent and
self reliant. JKC Centre helps students in colleges gain dedicated to students and
totally involved in providing the best training to help the students climb the ladder
of success and the ability to contribute to the economic and intellectual prosperity of
the country JKC helps students to realize their potential and aim high in life and
particularly it motivates and confidence.
Campus Placements/Campus Recruitment drives are conducted in various
educational institutes for providing job opportunities to the students who are
pursuing their particular academic courses. Creating a new job is a crucial one and
plays an important role. With the help of Campus Placements; the company will
identify suitable, skilled, talented candidates before they complete their education.
It reduces the time for a company to choose suitable aspirants according to their
need. Our college JKC Team in association with Sri Chaitanya Educational
Society, Andhra Pradesh, conducted a Teacher Recruitment Drive on 8th
February 2022. Total 27 students participated and had taken a written test
followed by Demo teaching and personal interview. 15 students were
shortlisted based on their on their performance throughout the process of
Confirmation and Temporary Appointment orders recruitment including the
subject knowledge and communication skills. Placement were given to the
selected candidates.

INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY
“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head.
If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart –Nelson Mandela.
International Mother Language/Tongue Day is a worldwide annual observance
held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity
and to promote multilingualism. Mother Language Day is part of a broader initiative
"to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by people of the
world". “Using technology for multilingual learning: Challenges and
opportunities” is the theme for this year 2022. This year's theme focus is to advance
multilingual education based on the potential role of technology and support the
development of quality teaching and learning for all. On this occasion our
college Telugu Department conducted an essay writing competition on “The
Role of student in Preserving Mother Tongue”. All the students enthusiastically
participated in this essay writing competition.
Language is the key to our creative thinking and expression. We all have
the responsibility to preserve, promote and pass on our mother tongue to
future generations.
PROGRAM ON CAREER GUIDANCE AND ENTREPRENEUR SKILLS
On 23rd February JKC team of the college organized a program on Career
Guidance and Entrepreneurship Skills for the first and second year students from
11a.m. to 1p.m. in the college new library hall. Smt. Gayathri Sridhar, CCE
consultant acted as resource person to this program. In this lively, interactive
session Smt. Gayathri Sridhar focused on time management, goal setting, life
planning, women empowerment and self-employment opportunities. She
discussed with students about their future targets and their present day
requirements. The program was chaired by our college Principal
Dr. S. Madhavi, supported by Smt.K.R.Manjula, Academic coordinator and
Dr.LVKrishna Rao, IQAC coordinator. Later in the afternoon session Smt.
Gayathri Sridhar interacted with the teaching faculty and discussed various
methodologies and strategies being employed in the teaching learning process
for undergraduate students. She also suggested the staff members to employ
more student centric and activity based methods in order to overcome the
monotony of traditional teaching methods.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATION
National Science Day commemorates the discovery of the Raman Effect by
Dr.C.V.Raman, for which he won the Nobel Prize in Physics. The National Science
Day is celebrated on 28th February every year across the country in honour of
physicist C.V.Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect, which gave Asia’s Nobel
Prize in the Sciences in 1930. Sir.C.V.Raman and his student-collaborator
K.S.Krishnan made this discovery of the phenomenon in 1928. It was the first
Nobel in Physics for a non-white person and for an Indian scientist.
The theme of National Science Day 2022 is 'Integrated Approach in Science and
Technology for a Sustainable Future'. On the occasion of National Science Day,
the Department of Physics conducted Science day celebrations in our college.
Science day celebrations started with the inaugural session on 28th Feb 2022
with the lighting of the lamp and paying homage to Sir.C.V.Raman. Students
and faculty of our college, Junior colleges and various schools attended the
programme. Our college principal, Dr.S.Madhavi presided over the session
and gave a brief introduction about the significance of celebrating National
Science Day on 28th February and she motivated the students to choose scientific
research as their career and to come up with new inventions.
In this connection, Science exhibition was organized. The students from
various science departments of our college exhibited working models. All the
faculty, students, media and others visited and appreciated the exhibits. The
Department of Chemistry, also conducted Science Exhibition and conducted
experiments on Osmosis, Chromatography and Food Adulteration. They also
conducted a National Level online Quiz on this occasion.
National Science Day’s primary objective is to ignite an interest in
science, inspire people, especially students, to perform new experiments, and
make them aware of the latest developments in science and technology.
