There are four processes and registrations CACFP organizations must complete as a requirement for receiving funds from the MS Department of Education. They are: DUNS, SAM, MAGIC, and Paymode. Let’s discuss each of these in detail.

3Step 1: How to Obtain a DUNS Number? What is a DUNS Number?• DUNS is Dun & Bradstreet’s (D&B) “Data

Universal Numbering System”.

• A DUNS number is a unique nine-character identification number for each physical location of your business.

• It is free of charge for all entities required to register with the federal government.

• By Phone – Business entities may requestthe DUNS number by calling a toll-freenumber, 1-866-705-5711 and indicate thatyou are a Federal grant applicant orprospective applicant.

• Over The Web – Business entities can alsoobtain a DUNS number through Dun &Bradstreet’s website,http://fedgov.dnb.com/webform

Have the following information available when requesting a DUNS number:• Legal name of your organization/entity (as filed with

the IRS)• Organization address and phone number• Name of the CEO or organization owner• Legal structure of the organization (corporation,

partnership, proprietorship, etc.)• Year the organization started• Primary line of business • Total number of employees (full- and part-time)

6Step 2: Register with SAMWhat is SAM?• The System for Award Management (SAM) is the Official U.S.

Government system that is a mandatory registration for all organizations (entities) doing business with the federal government.

• SAM centralizes information about Federal financial assistance recipients and also provides a central location for you to change your organizational information.

• There is NO charge to register or maintain your entity registration record in SAM.

7Step 2: Register with SAM (continued)How to Create a SAM Account: • Go to https://www.sam.gov/SAM/• Click on Create User Account.• Choose Individual Account.• Provide the requested information and submit your account

information.• Receive the email from “notifications” and click through the

SAM.gov link to validate/activate your account.

Effective June 29, 2018, all new and renewing registrants will have to create a login.gov user account. What you will need to register with SAM? DUNS number, EIN number, EFT information- ABA routing number for your bank, Account Number and Type, ACH point of contact, Remittance point of contact

• Register your entity at SAM.gov.

• Your SAM registration is valid for one year and must be updated on an annual basis to remain eligible to receive program financial assistance.

After entering your email address, a link will be sent for the user to verify the address. Once the email address is verified, the user will be prompted to create a password and select a secure login method.

Users are required to submit detailed information on their entity in the categories displayed, depending on the purpose of the registration. Click Start Registration in lower right hand corner of the page. Follow the prompts and Input all the requested information.

16Step 3: MAGIC Supplier Registration

• Go to the Vendor Registration website:http://www.dfa.ms.gov/dfa-offices/mmrs

• Click on Mississippi Suppliers(Vendors).• Click on State of Mississippi Supplier Registration and

21Supplier W-9 Submission• Suppliers who have completed the registration process and have received a

User ID and Password must attach a W-9 to their supplier account in MAGIC. Alternatively, suppliers may submit a valid W-9 to:

23Step 4: PayMode• In addition to your MAGIC registration, vendors will need to register

with PayMode in order to receive electronic payments. Paymode is a separate product that is offered via Bank of America.

• Go to https://secure.paymode.com/px/login

• If a vendor requires personal assistance, the vendor can call Bank of America toll-free at 1-866-252-7366.
