Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols provide default textdescribing graphic elements thatconvey information equivalent to theimage.

The page developer usingInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols may customize thedescription provided by the controlsthrough setting properties to specifyappropriate alternate text. Thepage developer must set theseproperties when using certainsophisticated features of thecontrols if the default description isnot suitable.

Certain non-text elements whichappear only to facilitate a visuallayout and not to presentinformation (i.e., transparent spacerimages, decorations) are providedempty text equivalents consistentwith Web Content AccessibilityGuidelines 1.0 checkpoint 1.1 sothat these non-text elements can beignored by assistive technology.

(b) Equivalent alternatives for anymultimedia presentation shall besynchronized with the presentation.

(c) Web pages shall be designed so thatall information conveyed with color is alsoavailable without color, for example fromcontext or markup.

The page developer using InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controls mustfollow certain design practices toconform to this requirement.

Page developers should avoid conveyinginformation to end users through theStyle object properties only. InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controls areeasily styled by color, but color alonecannot comply with this requirement.

Page developers can associate an imagewith many elements capable of beingmarked as selected by an InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET control, andhave that image provide alternate textdenoting the element’s selected status.

Certain visual-only effects such as mousehover effects are transient and intendedas visual embellishments only. Pagedevelopers can conform with thisrequirement by applying non-color Styleproperties in these hover effects if theeffect is intended to convey informationon their Web site.

In order to emulate the MicrosoftOutlook 2007 appearance of a calendarshowing appointments for multipleowners, the WebMonthView andWebDayView color appointmentsdifferently by owner.

Page developers should choose stylesets or presets included in InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controls thatoffer users content styled with suitablecontrast.

(d) Documents shall be organized so theyare readable without requiring anassociated style sheet.

WebDayView utilizes dynamic sizingand positioning of activities basedon their length, therefore withoutstyle sheets these activities may notappear readable.

ASP.NET AJAX controls should bereadable without a style sheet, butwill appear unstyled and may losetheir control structure.

All other Infragistics NetAdvantageASP.NET controls do not requireassociated style sheets to read theinformation they present.

(e) Redundant text links shall be providedfor each active region of a server-sideimage map.

NNoott AApppplliiccaabbllee::This functionality does not applyto Infragistics NetAdvantageASP.NET controls.

Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols do not employ server-sideimage maps.

(f) Client-side image maps shall beprovided instead of server-side imagemaps except where the regions cannot bedefined with an available geometric shape.

Image maps rendered by WebChartare client-side. Regions on theWebChart image map can beassigned alternate text thatdescribe the chart element.

(g) Row and column headers shall beidentified for data tables.

WebGrid and WebCombo identifycolumn headers with the scopeattribute, and do not use rowheader tags.

WebSchedule view controls treatthe day of the week above theircolumns as a column header usingthe scope attribute, or wherenecessary, the id and headersattributes.

WebMonthView associates theweek number with the days in eachweek as a row header, if the pagedeveloper makes week numbersvisible.

(h) Markup shall be used to associate datacells and header cells for data tables thathave two or more logical levels of row orcolumn headers.

PPaarrttiiaallllyy ssuuppppoorrtteedd::WebGrid and WebCombo partiallysupport this functionality.

This functionality does not apply toother Infragistics NetAdvantageASP.NET controls.



WebGrid and WebComboautomatically associate cells in Flatand Hierarchical views with theircolumn headers. Page developerscan customize the Caption on a percolumn basis such that AssistiveTechnology can associate it withcolumn headers of child bands.

Data cells are not associated with allsuccessive column headers whengrouped in Outlook Group By viewin the WebGrid because the visuallayout in Outlook Group By viewrelies on multiply nested tables.Page developers should presentgrouped information in an alternativemanner to conform to thisrequirement. WebGrid exposesGroup By rows programmatically tomake this possible.

(i) Frames shall be titled with text thatfacilitates frame identification andnavigation.

NNoott AApppplliiccaabbllee::This functionality does not apply toInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols.


(j) Pages shall be designed to avoidcausing the screen to flicker with afrequency greater than 2 Hz and lowerthan 55 Hz.

The page developer using InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controlsmust utilize the controls in such away as to conform to thisrequirement.

Page developers must configure theWebImageViewer’s hover styles toavoid excessive flicker in response torapid mouse movements.

(l) When pages utilize scripting languagesto display content, or to create interfaceelements, the information provided by thescript shall be identified with functional textthat can be read by Assistive Technology.

Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols add markup to their userinterface elements that are createddynamically on the client to makethese elements readable by AssistiveTechnology.

The page developer can have manyInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols render in a downlevel modewithout scripting except ASP.NETAJAX controls, WebSchedule,WebSpellChecker, WebHtmlEditorand WebAsyncRefreshPanel. Limitedfunctionality is available to end userswhen running in downlevel mode.

(m) When a web page requires that anapplet, plug-in or other application bepresent on the client system to interpretpage content, the page must provide a linkto a plug-in or applet that complies with§1194.21(a) through (l).

NNoott AApppplliiccaabbllee::This functionality does not apply toInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols functionality.

The page developer using InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controlsmust utilize the controls in such away as to conform to thisrequirement.

When WebHtmlEditor functionalityenabling users to embed streamingmedia into their content has beenused, the page developer mustprovide a link to a suitable plug-in onthe same page to conform to thisrequirement.

(k) A text-only page, with equivalentinformation or functionality, shall beprovided to make a Web site comply withthe provisions of this part, whencompliance cannot be accomplished inany other way. The content of the text-only page shall be updated whenever theprimary page changes.

NNoott AApppplliiccaabbllee::This functionality does not apply toInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols functionality.

(n) When electronic forms are designed tobe completed on-line, the form shall allowpeople using Assistive Technology to accessthe information, field elements, andfunctionality required for completion andsubmission of the form, including alldirections and cues.

Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols have the ability to displayalternate text and title information onuser interface elements for pagedevelopers to utilize.

WebSchedule and WebSpellCheckerdialogs are designed with labelsdescribing all dialog fields that can beread by Assistive Technology.

WebDropDown supports describingitself via tooltips.

Information which may be hidden incollapsable controls such as thehierarchical WebGrid, WebCombo,WebPanel, WebListBar andWebExplorerBar to reduce noise inthe user interface and can expandthrough the use of the keyboard.

Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols have a notion of a “selected”element that can be submitted as partof a form to allow their selection to bechanged using a mouse or keyboard.

WebHtmlEditor, a rich markup editorcontrol, does not support keyboardaccessibility.

WebDataGrid and WebHierarchical-DataGrid do not support changingpages via keyboard. Page developersshould not use their paging behavior tocomply with this requirement.

(o) A method shall be provided that permitsusers to skip repetitive navigation links.

FFuullllyy ssuuppppoorrtteedd::Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols provide functionality thatconforms to these criteria.


WebGrid provides an accessible pageruser interface element allowing users tomove directly to a labeled page andskip intermediate pages. A pagedeveloper may utilize numeric or textlabel navigation links for pages. Aseparate WebNavBar can be used tonavigate pages within a WebGridwithout requiring the user to navigateinto the WebGrid.

Many Infragistics NetAdvantageASP.NET controls support expand andcollapse functionality which can beused to hide repetitive content suchthat a user is not required to navigatethrough that content.

The page developer using InfragisticsNetAdvantage ASP.NET controls mustutilize the controls in such a way as toconform to this requirement such as notpresenting large amounts of content atone time.

(p) When a timed response is required, theuser shall be alerted and given sufficienttime to indicate more time is required.

PPaarrttiiaallllyy ssuuppppoorrtteedd::This functionality applies only toInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols with AJAX functionality.

When using AJAX functionality of theInfragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols including WebSchedule,WebTab and WebAsyncRefreshPanelthe page developer must utilize thecontrols in so as avoid changes ofcontext unless initiated by the user.

The reminder notification functionalityof WebSchedule causes a dialog toappear at a predetermined time thatnotifies the user of an activity. Pagedevelopers can disable reminderfunctionality to more fully conformwith this requirement.

Some controls with load-on-demandoffer templates to customize the waitindication shown, or expose eventsthat can be handled to comply withthis requirement.

(b) At least one mode of operation andinformation retrieval that does not requirevisual acuity greater than 20/70 shall beprovided in audio and enlarged printoutput working together orindependently, or support for AssistiveTechnology used by people who arevisually impaired shall be provided.


(c) At least one mode of operation andinformation retrieval that does not requireuser hearing shall be provided, or supportfor Assistive Technology used by peoplewho are deaf or hard of hearing shall beprovided.


(d) Where audio information is importantfor the use of a product, at least onemode of operation and informationretrieval shall be provided in an enhancedauditory fashion, or support for assistivehearing devices shall be provided.

Most Infragistics NetAdvantageASP.NET controls provide a mode ofoperation using the Tab key forforward interior navigation ofelements when a TabIndex propertyis set on the control. When focus isinside of many controls, the cursor (orarrow) keys are supported to navigaterectangular UI elements in an intuitive(up/down, left/right) fashion.

Some less commonly usedfunctionality requires a keyboardcombination of at least 2 keyspressed simultaneously.

A very small number of features (e.g.,drag and drop to move UI elements,Outlook Group-by in WebGrid, thepager in WebDataGrid and Web-HierarchicalDataGrid) are not directlyaccessible without fine motor control.

Page developers are encouraged touse the programmatic object modelof Infragistics NetAdvantage ASP.NETcontrols to provide this functionalityin an accessible manner conformingto these criteria.
