Nestlé packs worldwide
It’s objective is to encourage and empower consumers
to make informed choices about their diet and enjoy a
more balanced life
60% of consumers find it more helpful and informative
compared to other nutrition information systems

Consumer’s box: starts always with a
question which is related to the consumption
of the product. It address a Nutrition, Health
and Wellness need
This box belongs to the Product Brand and
highlights e.g. relevant nutrients on the
nutrition table
Gives Good Tips and Good Habits. In
some cases it can address an important
issue of public health

NUTRITION LABELLING
It is mandatory at Nestlé to provide the following
nutrition information on-pack:
a. Front of Pack (FOP): As a minimum, include declaration
of energy content per portion and as % RI.
Optionally: fat, saturates, sugars and sodium: must be
displayed together and in this order
b. Back of Pack (BOP): The Nutrition table must provide
information as a minimum, for 8 key nutrients of public
health interest (Big 8), per 100g or ml, per portion and as
% RI.

SUSTAINABILITY
Consumers demand more of brands and companies
today
Consumers want what is good for them and their families
to also be good for society and the environment
Nestlé has a specific standard on Creating Shared Value
communications which defines specific guidance on the
communication.
Any environmental or social claim must be substantiated

SPECIFIC GUIDANCE ON COMMUNICATION Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):
The compilation and evaluation of inputs, outputs and potential
environmental impacts of a product system throughout its life
cycle. The six life cycle stages being:
– Ingredient supply
– Packaging
– Manufacturing
– Distribution and storage
– Consumption
– End of life
Does not address the economic or social aspects of a product

Environmental and social claims
Ensure that the communication is not misleading key
communication principle
Align to ISO standards (14021 – 14024) where no regulations
or standards exist
Communicate clear, compelling, scientifically substantiated
messages to help consumers make informed choices

Nestlé has own relationships with selected third parties, e.g :

for the improvement of life conditions for
cocoa producers as well as for the quality

An engagement with third parties is complementary to
Nestlé’s quality processes and not a replacement

It gives people instant access to
information about the nutritional profile
