NCERTfall2018InnovationSummitSocialSentinelPresentationInformation Presentation: Dealing Proactively with Threats in Social Media Description: Come join Social Sentinel for a discussion on our early warning system for detecting and alerting on public social media posts with threats of harm-to-others and self-harm concerning your district and schools. Many districts have invested heavily in hardening their properties with security equipment. These improvements help once a perpetrator arrives, but what is being done to proactively identify and deal with the threat before it is carried act out? With more than 1 billion posts per day and 40% of the threats concerning school on social media, can you keep up with the digital conversation and find the threats prior to an incident? Presentation Title:

Using 21st Century Technology for Effective School Security Solutions Description: We’ve all heard about emergency procedures and re-unifications gone wrong. Come hear about what DOES work with case study examples from parent reunification events. You’ll leave with both a sense of what to avoid as well as actionable insights to bring into your emergency management plans and procedures. Raptor Technologies® is the nation’s leading developer of integrated school safety technologies for K-12 schools across the United States. Founded in 2002, Raptor developed the first web-based visitor management system designed for schools. The Raptor® system monitors visitors, contractors, and volunteers who enter a building and provides instant screening for sex offender status and custody orders. The system has flagged more than 50,000 registered sex offenders attempting to enter K-12 schools. In fall of 2017, the company unveiled Raptor® Emergency Management, a software program that helps schools prepare for, respond to, and recover from an incident with drill management, active incident management, and parent-student reunification tools. It also provides real-time reporting dashboards that allow administrators the ability to track status and locations of every individual in the event of an emergency. Deeper Learning Leaders: Improving Student Engagement through Elevating Student Voice

Description:

The Deeper Learning movement affirms that engagement is the key to student achievement. But is “engagement” an elusive intangible, or an indicator that can be strategically levered for improvement? And how do we transition systems and mindsets to prioritize engagement over compliance? From an equity standpoint, how can we ensure all students are engaged, not just the students in the front of the class?

You’ll learn from two innovative leaders: one who directs innovation and improvements at High Tech High, and another who supports the work at High Tech High through actionable student feedback data, as well in education systems across the country.

They’ll share what works, what the common pitfalls are, and how to use student feedback to accelerate learning for each student.

NCERTfall2018InnovationSummitEanesInnovativeSchoolDistrictPresentationInformation Presentation Title: Bringing Civility to the Neighborhood Description: The video that will be shown is captured from the August 2018 Eanes ISD Convocation event. This presentation was prepared and delivered by Dr. Tom Leonard, Superintendent of Schools with assistance from Carl Hooker, Director of Innovation & Digital Learning. Eanes ISD With initiatives around innovation, entrepreneurism and social emotional learning, this year the district is embarking on a community-wide effort to improve inclusivity of all learners. This message by Dr. Leonard speaks calls back to the troubled times of 1968 and how much has changed (and not changed) 50 years later. Out of all the chaos of that year was born a television program for children centered around the ideology that each one of us is special in our own way. Mister Rogers Neighborhood and his message of kindness and love for all are especially poignant in these tumultuous times with social media, stress, and increased pressure on public education. The original video has been edited for length.
