Terminología Terminology

Cuerda: Producto independiente de su diámetro, fabricado por torsión o trenzado de materias fibrosas, para obtener una cuerda acabada, una línea o un cordón.Rope: A rope is a length of fibres, twisted or braided together to improve strength for pulling and connecting.

Cordón: Producto retorcido o trenzado, de diámetro habitualmente inferior a 4mm.

Cuerda de trenzado doble: Cuerda en la que un determinado número de cabos están trenzados para formar un alma, alrededor de la cual se trenzan otros cabos para formar una funda.

Cableado (cuerda retorcida): Proceso que consiste en fabricar una cuerda de cabos retorciendo o disponiendo cabos conjuntamente para formar una construcción estable que no se desenrede.

Trenzado: Proceso que consiste en entrelazar los materiales de la cuerda de manera helicoidal, de modo que el número de filamentos o de hilos que forman hélices en una dirección se equilibra por un número igual de filamentos o de hilos que forman hélices en la dirección opuesta.

Cord: A small braided item of cordage, usually less than 4mm diameter.

Double braided rope: Two ropes in one, a braided core is over-braided with a cover braid, hence the terms braid on braid and 2 in 1 braid. / Exceptionally strong rope construction of a core braid container within an outer braided jacket.

Twisted: The number of turns about the axis applied to a fiber, yarn, strand or rope over a given length to combine the individual elements into a larger and stronger structure.

Braid: The process of product if rope or textile structure formed by a braiding process in “V” form. The interwining of strands in a briding process to produce a rope structure.

RFS – Rombull Fix System: Sistema de terminado de cabos, especialmente desarrollado para las líneas de cordelería y cabullería. Su función principal es producir una estabilidad en las fibras que conforman el cabo, prolongando su vida útil. Este proceso dota a la cuerda de una amabilidad y consistencia que la hacen ideal para su uso como cabos naúticos.

RFS - Rombull Fix System: Strand finishing system, specially developed for cordage lines. Its main function is to provide stability to all the fibres which form the strand , make larger its time of use. This process makes the rope kind and consistent, characteristics that are ideal for its use as nautical strand.

Driza: Cuerda o cabo utilizado para izar o arriar las velas Halyard: Rope for raising a ship´s sail.

Escota: Cabo que sirve para tensar las velas. Sheet: Rope used for tensing a ship´s sail.

Maroma: Cuerda utilizada para remolcar o amarrar un barco. Mooring rope: Rope used to moor a boat.
