NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS
Graduate Student Appreciation
Wednesday, September 15th
A LESSON IN THE REAL LIFE OF A GRAD STUDENT
Simple Things to Know in a NSBE Meeting
The duty of the Parliamentarian is to keep the time, order and
professionalism within the meetings
I lead the meetings. You follow and
express yourself when acknowledged.
Your duties as NSBE members or guests is to know these common vocabulary and
votes:
• “I Second”
Every time a motion has been move anyone must second it to move on. Not
doing so will result for the motion to die. I will ask if anyone second’s it to be sure.
• “I Object ”
When I bring something up, whether its an idea, event, or voting, you can say
this immediately. When you do not agree with a motion. STATE YOUR REASON
There will be voting in the form of majority of hands,
roll call, or by ballot
We vote against, in favor of, and abstain
