National Service Scheme
Special Camp Report
21stJan to 27th Jan 2018
National Service Scheme (NSS) camp was organized by AISSMS College of Pharmacy, funded
by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) during the period of 21st Jan to 27th Jan 2018 at
Hivare Village, Saswad Taluka, District-Pune.
NSS was established in 1969 with a vision of personality development of students through
community service and well as development of rural areas in India.
NSS Unit has been introduced in colleges with an optimism of establishing a sense of social
responsibility amongst students and inculcating values of self-discipline and selfless dedication
towards community development.
As a part of NSS Activities, a 7 day camp was held by AISSMS College of Pharmacy at Hivare
Village, Saswad Taluka, District-Pune between 21st Jan to 27th Jan 2018. Various social activities
were held with a sole view of rural development and value education. We, being a part of the
cultural committee, undertook various cultural activities in the village to promote interaction
with the villagers and used the NSS platform to spread awareness about different social issues.

THE OPENING CEREMONY
For inauguration programme of Special camp at Hivare village, we called renowned persons
from village. Inauguration programme started with lighting of the lamps and welcoming of the
guests. It was followed by introduction of the chief guests and their felicitation. The vision,
mission and the main purpose of the NSS camp was put forth by Mr. Rahul Padalkar, Program
Officer for NSS Unit of AISSMS. The programme proceeded with different speeches given by
the guests present for the ceremony. The opening ceremony was concluded by recital of Vande
Mataram.

SAVE FORT PROGRAMME
During NSS special camp, our NSS student had visit to Purandar Fort which is very near to
our adapted Hivare village, Taluka Saswad. During visit our students tried to clean the way
of Purandar Fort. Our NSS team has also done tree plantation at hill point below the fort.
Our intention of tree plantation at Purandar fort was tocontribute to environment by providing
oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and
thereby supporting the life of Purandar fort.

CULTURAL ACTIVITY
The cultural event conducted in the evening at the Village Temple.The purpose of the
programme was to encourage the freedom of expression amongst the villagers. The main theme
of the event was traditional art performances. The villagers responded with great enthusiasm.
The children gave outstanding dance performances, recited poetry and sung songs which
conveyed a social message. The programme was successful in proving the spirit of the people
living in rural areas. Music and poetry was also organized and it was embraced and cherished by
one and all. The programme concluded at 8:30pm with the recital of Vande Mataram.

Date: 23/1/2018 HANDWRITING COMPETITION
The NSS Unit conducted a Hand writing competition for school students at Hivare village. The
students of standard 1st to 8th standard were participated in the competition. Draft for writing was
given in Marathi.Students were provided with the papers and were instructed about the rules of
the competition.
The handwriting latter were evaluated by their school teachers and our NSS students and staff
unanimously and the winners were declared. The prize distribution was conducted on 26th
January after flag hosting at school.

CASHLESS AWARENESS PROGRAMME
The Digital India programme is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision
to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.Government of
India has taken measures to promote a cashless economy through digital payments. In the view
of this our NSS students were able to collect the information regarding awareness and use of
ATM and cashless transaction during survey of Hivare village. During survey our NSS student
explained the people of different families about various methods of cashless transaction such as
pre-paid cards, debit cards etc. We have also organized special awareness programme in the
evening for villagers on Cashless/Digital India. In this programme we have sensitized the
villagers to access and use of electronic payment system. Our NSS programme officer had
explained the importance of digital payment, advantages of it and different modes of digital
payment and services.

SURVEY OF VILLAGE
Survey of the Hivare village is conducted by the students of NSS during special camp. In this
survey, each student has given 5 survey form which is filled according to the information given
by the respective villagers. 25 members of the NSS camp has collected the information from
each houses. 125 forms has been filled. Common information regarding the village and locality
is mentioned at the beginning of each form. The printed forms contained questions regarding
population of the house, occupation of the family members, questions considering the education
and qualification of the family members and the benefits received from the welfare of the village.
Questions about the household items and the housing was also asked regarding better sanitary
facilities. The survey form also includes the complete information of the villagers, family
members, income source and etc.

ORGAN DONATION PROGRAMME
India is struggling with acute shortage of organs for transplantation and estimated more than
million people suffer with end stage organ failure. In the view of this we have organized organ
donation awareness programme for villagers in the evening. In this programme our NSS students
given the information about organ donation to everyone to encourage them to become organ
donor and also informed to register on site http://www.organindia.org/ to become organ donor.

HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME
A medical health care camp had been set up in Hivare, Saswad on 25th February 2018 by the
NSS students of AISSMS College of Pharmacy, Pune. In the camp, proper medical treatment of
the people of Hivre and nearby area was done and remedial measures were provided, all free of
cost, including the basic medicines required for an early recovery. The aim of the health camp
was to administer Health Awareness and provide health counseling.
The four co-ordinators LalitKasar, AkshayPabale, NazneenPathan and Rima Ubale and a team of
doctors from Saswad government hospital including head Dr. Shinde conducted the camp with
which included General Physical examination, Blood Pressure check-up, BMI check-up, Blood
Sugar check-up, Hemoglobin Check-up. Necessary medical advice and precautionary measures
were given to the students.
The students were given the task of taking down the details of the people who came for this
health check-up and guide the people for the same. The people encouraged to do simple activities
on a regular basis to get rid of the excessive body pain. Check-up was performed on every
patient. After that, they were sent to their respective doctors where they were appropriately given
the right directions regarding their health. The doctors carefully listened to the problems that
patients were facing and provided an appropriate solution to cure it. Majority of the people were
suffering from chronic joint pain and high/low blood pressure.
The camp lasted for four hours, from 10am to 2pm. More than 150 people attended the camp.
The talk was followed by the different queries that villagers asked with respect to the
consultation to understand their health related concerns and help them. This session was further
followed by counselling in group where in similar set of problems were dealt together.
The teachers helped in the successful completion of the camp by providing the doctors the
required information. The villagers too were very enthusiastic and attentive.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
Our NSS students were celebrated the republic day at Zilla Parishad School Hivare. All students
were present during Flag hosting at school. At the end of flag hosting, gift distribution ceremony
for the handwriting competitions which was held on dated 23/01/2018 at primary and secondary
school was done by hand of Sarpanch of Hivare village.

“STREET PLAY AND DRAMA ON SAVE THE GIRL CHILD”.
This was the last cultural programme organized by our NSS students during special camp village
HIWARE. The evening started with Performance of Villager’s Children by singing songs, Dance
followed by the speech on “IMPORTANCE OF PURANDAR” by special guest Ms.Karishma
Shabbier Shaikh followed by the Street play performed by NSS students unit which was full of
emotions and drama. The theme of street play was “SAVE THE GIRL CHILD”. The main
intention of street play and dram was to spread the massage and awareness about girl child and
her role in life. This drama not only spread awareness but also it attained the hearts of villages by
tears in their eyes. The programme concluded at 8:30pm with the recital of Vande Mataram.

The Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of special camp held on dated 27/01/2018 at 6.30 PM. In this all the
activities and events conducted during 7 day Special camp were summarized by the Mr. Rahul R.
Padalkar, Program officer of NSS Unit. Sarpanch of the Hivare village expressed his views and
opinions regarding our NSS students and the activities which were carried out during 7 day
camp. Sarpanch has appreciated our NSS students and disciplines during 7 days of camp. The
vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Vidya Wable, teacher Incharge in NSS camp.
