Many years ago , I was introduced to the o riginal cast reco rding o f “T heWild Party”. I listened to it incessantly, on constant repeat in the car, untilmy children begged me to stop. I needed to know more and started tolook into it but, alas, it was no longer Off-Broadway and wasn't be ingperfo rmed anywhere near here. Fast fo rward a few years and a localgroup was go ing to stage it but it was in the middle o f the summer and Iwas working at a summer camp two and a half hours away and couldn'tget home fo r a perfo rmance. Over the years, I have suggested the showto many o f the groups I've worked with and FINALLY go t the chance to havethis piece produced.

Based on the 1926 epic poem by Jo seph Moncure March, the sto ry centerson lovers, Queenie and Burrs in late 1920s New York City. T he ir oncemutually satisfacto ry re lationship has soured and the glo ss has started totarnish. After a particularly vio lent episode Queenie decides that she isgo ing to punish Burrs and show him that she is still desirable . Her plan isto throw a party and invite all o f the ir eclectic friends.

As parties o ften do , this one ends up be ing a little more than she hadbargained fo r. Kate arrives at the party with newcomer, Black, who catchesQueenie 's eye. With the drink flowing and the drugs passing, inhibitions arelowered. Jealousy rears its head as the evening wears on. T here is ascuffle and...
