DepEd Batangas City conducted the 2015 Gender Sensitivity Training on April 10-11 2015 at El Gran

!esidencia "otel and !esort #ipa City$ The t%o-day training included GAD activities spearheaded &or the Divisi

'&&ice (ersonnel$ )t %as participated *y the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Education Superviso

(u*lic School District Supervisors Accountant Ad+inistrative '&&icers Supply '&&icer Ad+inistrative Ai

Education (rogra+ Specialists Senior Education (rogra+ Specialists and ,tility or.ers$

DepEd Batangas City (ersonnel thru the leadership o& Dr$ Donato G$ Bueno ')C-Schools Divis

Superintendent +ade the training +eaning&ul and productive &or each and every one$ /arious activities %e

prepared and participated to pro+ote ca+araderie and to *uild strong relationship %ithout *ias a+ongst Dep

personnel$ Eual opportunity *et%een +ale and &e+ale e+ployees %as +ani&ested on the ga+es and activiti

participated in *y a tea+ or *y an individual$

The day *egan %ith an asse+*ly o& participants in the division o&&ice &or short orientation a*out the venu

acco++odation ti+e o& arrival and departure and vessels that %ould *ring the participants to and &ro+ the ven

A&ter *oarding the passenger eepney the participants headed to El Grande !esidencia "otel and !esorts in #

City$ The &irst eepney arrived at 300 in the +orning April 10 2015$ T%o +ore eepneys arrived &e% +inutes a&

&ollo%ed *y a van %ith other DepEd personnel riding in it$

A short progra+ hosted *y 4iss Euna Briones and 4rs$ Cristina !ivera %as staged co++encing t

training$ The participants sang the ational Anthe+ led *y 4iss Euna Briones and o&&ered an opening prayer led

4rs$ Cristina /illena$ Dr$ Sacoro Co+ia C)D Chie&-Designate delivered her inspirational +essage$ Dr$ /ic

6a*a*ier SG'D Chie&-Designate gave a *ird7s eye vie% o& the training$ She ac.no%ledged the e&&ort o& the GA

co++ittee %ith 4rs$ #isa A+oto Education Supervisor as its 6ocal (erson8 %ho is supported *y the &ollo%i

people3 4rs$ 9ose&ina #ag+an :Accountant ; Dr$ S$ Co+ia Dr$ /$ 6a*a*ier 4r$ Catapang : ES- 4ath-Ele+entar

and 4r$ Alon : ES and (hysical 6acility Coordinator;$

4rs$ #ag+an instructed everyone to &or+ a group through a ga+e called <the *oat is sin.ing=$ The ga+

+ade everyone laughed and giggled and tried hard to *elong to a group %hether each .ne% the other or not$ A&several group trials &ive :5; groups o& nine +e+*ers %ere &or+ed and that %as the *eginning o& all the activities the entire day$ Each group %as given color as their as TEA4 na+es$ They %ere Blue Tea+ /iolet Tea+ >ellTea+ 'range Tea+ and (in. Tea+$ The +e+*ers o& each group stuc. together and ai+ed %inning in every ga+or activity$ 4ale or &e+ale %or.ed hard &or the success o& the group$

The &irst group activity a&ter having co+&orta*ly introduced each other %as the creation o& group logo a

group yell?cheer$ T%o hours %as allotted &or this activity$ Brainstor+ing %as evident in the &our corners o& the h

“Everybody needed somebody” %as the at+osphere at that ti+e$ “ May I borrow this, may I borrow that” phra

that echoed in the air$ Everyone %as deter+ined to *ag the +ost coveted pri@e o& all ti+e3 T' BE T"

C"A4()'$ The organi@er had a score sheet that re&lected the achieve+ent o& each group in every ga+e?activ

The group %ith the highest score %as declared C"A4()'$ Gi&ts and surprises %ere prepared &or the %inners$



#unch *rea. %as declared and Dr$ Co+ia announced that a resource spea.er %ould have his tal. a&t

lunch$ The training resu+ed at 130 in the a&ternoon$ 4rs$ A+oto introduced the resource spea.er$ T

participants %ere &ortunate &or having Atty$ 9uan 4analo as spea.er a*out Anti-Seual "arass+ent Act o& 15$

deli*erately discussed and eplained so+e issues and concerns a*out Seual "arass+ent particularly in

%or.place$ The topic +ade the participants attentive and interested$ <Seual harass+ent can *e visual ver*

physical and gesture= he said$ The types o& seual harass+ent types o& harasser and true or &alse o& seu

harass+ent %ere his topics$ "e suggested that the division +ust have a C'D) :Co++ittee on Decoru+ a

)nvestigation;8 %hich should address issues on seual harass+ent in a %or.place$ The discussant ended

speech %ith a sel&-protection uestion against seual harass+ent and should as.ed onesel& %henever situat

ca+e along the %ay “Does it feel good or bad?”

An open &oru+ &ollo%ed a&ter his tal.$ 'ne participant as.ed the gravity o& the tet +essage o& an alleg

other +an?%o+an to a %i&e ? hus*and as an evidence &or seual harass+ent$ Atty$ 4analo replied that there is su

a thing as co++unication privacy8 that the court %ould not ac.no%ledge the tet +essage as an evidence *ut i& t

tet +essage is &ro+ an individual %ho is deli*erately sending tet +essage to harass then the tet +essage cou

*e a *ig deal o& evidence$ The participants %ere grate&ul to Atty$ 4analo that he %as a%arded %ith a certi&icate

recognition signed *y Dr$ Donato G$ Bueno$

A&ternoon snac.s %as declared$ El Grande sta&& prepared taste&ul +eals that pleased every*ody7s appet(resentation o& logo and cheers &ollo%ed a&ter the snac.$ The groups spared ti+e &or the rehearsal o& respect

cheers$ Ecite+ent and itters &illed the air at that +o+ent$

The &irst group %ho presented the logo and cheer %as () tea+$ >in>ang %as the concept o& their log

>ello% tea+ had the eual ar+ *alance as their the+e &or a logo$ Blue tea+ presented a shell %ith pearls in

orange tea+ had the eual ar+ *alance and hu+an &igure violet tea+ had the *oy and girl &acing each other$ Ea

group ca+e up %ith the logo appropriate &or the the+e o& the training$ The %inners %ere declared i++ediately a&

the presentation$ The cheers %as a repeat per&or+ance *ecause udges had di&&iculty in declaring the %inn

*ecause every group uniuely per&or+ed each cheer$ inners in the #ogo 4a.ing category %ere3 1st 'range8 2

>ello%8 rd- (urple8 Fth-Blue and 5th- (in.$ Cheer per&or+ers had &un and see+ed to increase sel&-estee+ a&ter ea

sho%$ inners in the Cheer Category3 1st-(urple8 2nd-Blue8 rd 'range8 Fth >ello%8 5th (in.$

The net ga+es %ere all a*out tea+ *uilding and gender sensitivity$ Tug-o-%ar using *are hands and ar

+easured the &lei*ility and strength o& *oth +ale and &e+ale$ )t also de+onstrated cooperation a+ong +e+*e

techniues and strength as a tea+ so as not to stu+*le or &all do%n despite hardships and challenges$

<#u.song *a.a= is a ga+e that sho%s sensitivity a+ongst +e+*ers o& each group$ The needs strength a

%ea.nesses o& each +e+*er %ere discussed *e&ore the ga+e *egan$ Strategies to %in the ga+e %ere plann

and leaders assured the tea+ o& unison &or a sure %in$ (articipants %ere all %inners at their o%n right$ Scores %e

ran.ed and added to previous scores gained &ro+ other ga+es$ Dr$ Co+ia untiringly cheered the players to go

and +a.e each +ove uic. &or the ga+e %as against the tic. o& the cloc.$ The tea+ %ho could &inish the o*stacin the shortest ti+e %ould %in the ga+e$ /iolet Tea+ ran.ed one in this ga+e &ollo%ed *y yello% tea+ th

orange tea+ ran. &our %as *lue tea+ pin. tea+ got the &inal ran.$

Scores %ere given &or each ran.$ !an. 1 is &or 10 points8 ran. 2 is eual to 8 ran. H 58 ran. F

euivalent to points and ran. 5 got a score o& one :1;$ Every tea+ ai+ed &or ran. one and that %as the ti+e %h

healthy co+petition sat in$

Ga+es %ere spearheaded *y Dr$ Co+ia Dr$ 6a*a*ier 4rs$ A+oto 4r$ Alon and 4rs$ #ag+an$ A&ter t

<lu.song *a.a= Dr$ Co+ia announced that the re+aining ti+e *e&ore dinner %as allotted to rehearsals

participants &or the singing and dancing contest %hich %ere the events &or the evening$ Each group selected th



sanctuary &or the rehearsal$ Good thing that El Grande had +ore than enough space &or the huge nu+*er

participants$ The groups %ere discrete that they did not %ant a ne+esis to pee. on their production nu+*e

Dinner %as served at I300 in the evening$ The su+ptuous +eal su&&iced the appetite o& the participants a&ter a ve

long day$

4rs$ !hina )$ Silva Assistant Schools Division Superintendent delivered her +essage$ She .ept re+ind

everyone the signi&icance o& tea+%or. and cooperation in the achieve+ent o& success o& Division o& Batangas C

She also +entioned that positions or title that each holds in the o&&ice are ust *ut na+es *ecause each plays vi

role in the success o& the Division o& Batangas City$

The night activities o& &un entertain+ent ca+araderie colla*oration and ecite+ent started at seven o7clo

in the evening$ 4rs$ #ag+an hosted the night activities$ Singing contest %as staged$ Each group had their *

entry &or the contest$ The participants %ere serenaded *y those <song*irds= and got their &eet to dance *y t

<popsters= and <roc.ers=$ (arty +ood %as %itnessed groups cheered &or their entry or contestant$ That night %

a night o& revelation and sho%+anship$ < e% talents %ere discovered and soon *e honed to per&ection= said eve

one$

4rs$ Cristina !ivera &ro+ the 'range Tea+ gra**ed the &irst place in this category giving the tea+ a per&ect 10

their scores$ 4rs$ /$ &ro+ the >ello% Tea+ ran.ed second (urple tea+ %as in the third ran. pin. in the &ourth ra

and *lue in the &i&th ran.$

Dancing contest &ollo%ed the singing contest$ (articipants sho%cased their talents in cha cha *oog

&otrot er. *ody t%er.ing and other dance steps eisted on earth$ 6un s+iles and laughter %ere radiating in t

hall$ )t %as a *last$ Every*ody tried their very *est to shine that very night$ The audience %ere ecited and had th

*et &or the nu+*er one in that category$ The udges %ho %ere epert dancers on their o%n right enoyed eve

per&or+ance and gave appropriate scores &or the deserving contestants$ The 'range tea+ got the &irst plac

second place &or the *lue tea+ third place &or the /iolet tea+ &ourth place &or the >ello% tea+ and (in. tea+ +a

it to the &i&th place$

Dr$ 6a*a*ier solicited the participants7 i+pression on the trainings$ They had unani+ous state+ent that t

training +ade each and every one closer to one another8 *elonging8 oy&ul8 hu+*le8 &eel uniue8 stress-&ree a

acco++odating$ The the+e <gender sensitivity= heightened the a%areness o& the participants on euality

opportunity &or *oth +ale and &e+ale$ The participants *eca+e +ore cautious in dealing and co++unicating %

the opposite and sa+e gender &or they %ere given in&or+ation on !A 3 Anti Seual "arass+ent Act$ As

%hole the training %as a success *ecause it has +et its o*ectives o& *uilding a strong tea+ %ho is +ind&ul o& t

people creating the tea+$
