For NAMDRC’s 39th Annual Meeting and Educational Conference we travel to the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage, CA.The 2016 program is entitled, “NAMDRC 2016: The Role of Technology in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine” and the Friday program includes a luncheon. NAMDRC is also offering a complimentary meeting registration to new members who have joined since May 1, 2015 and have never attended a NAMDRC Annual Meeting and Educational Conference (see the complete details on the Conference Registration page).The program is designed to provide meeting registrants with a broad cross section of clinical information as well as to identify on-going health policy issues that should serve as an excellent educational opportunity. The program will include: what is new in the areas of COPD, pulmonary hypertension, asthma biologics and therapy, lung transplantation; telemedicine; evidence based approach to sleep apnea; how drug developments are conducted from an insider’s perspective; occupational lung disease; the computerization of medicine, the EHR and beyond; neuromuscular disease; management of sepsis; perspectives in pulmonary rehabilitation. There will also be complete updates on the new Respiratory Compromise Institute; legislative and regulatory issues; the future of pulmonary and critical care medicine; coding; practice management.Sessions will be interactive via wireless communication units and speakers have been specifically instructed to take advantage of this important interactive opportunity. The Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort is located in the lush oasis of Coachella Valley and the greater Palm Springs area.The Palm Springs International Airport is located about 11 miles from Rancho Las Palmas and it takes about 20 minutes to arrive at the hotel located at 41000 Bob Hope Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270.

Things to Do… The Greater Palm Springs area has tons of fun and activities for kids and for adults as well! There is Splashtopia with two hundred foot waterslides and more at the Las Palmas and Wet ‘N’ Wild Palm Springs, Desert Ice Castle, and the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert. Ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, visit The Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Gardens to see some real desert critters and dinosaurs and the Joshua Tree forests; stop by the Palm Springs Air Museum to check out the WWII flyable aircraft and of course the World’s Biggest Dinosaur Museum. There are also plenty of places to hike and bike, go horseback riding and take jeep and hummer tours of Coachella Valley

and go hot air ballooning. Don’t miss out on the Palm Springs “Walk of the Stars” and all of the unique shops and restaurants. And there are plenty of golf courses, too!

Climate and DressMid-day temperatures in March in Palm Springs can average up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Evenings can be chilly and it is advisable to bring slacks, sweaters and/or light jackets. Remember to bring along comfortable shoes for sightseeing and other activities and pack at least one set of dress clothes as some restaurants may require more formal attire. And don’t forget a swimsuit as there are 2 beautiful pools on site. Attire for educational sessions is business casual. Receptions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings call for a casual/elegant look.
