Nalcor Energy launches provincial job fairs for Muskrat Falls Project

November 12, 2013, St. John’s, NL – Newfoundlanders and Labradorians interested in

working on the Muskrat Falls Project will have an opportunity to learn more about jobs

available throughout construction over the coming weeks.

Nalcor Energy is launching a series of job fairs across Newfoundland and Labrador to

recruit qualified workers for the Muskrat Falls Project, which will require an average of

1,500 workers each year throughout construction. Skilled workers in dozens of trades

are required for construction of the 824 megawatt (MW) hydroelectric generating

facility at Muskrat Falls, more than 1,500 km of transmission lines and associated

infrastructure across the province.

“We want to ensure that people in this province benefit from the significant job

opportunities that will be available throughout construction,” said Gilbert Bennett, Vice

President, Nalcor Energy - Lower Churchill Project. “Newfoundlanders and Labradorians

are some of most highly skilled tradespeople in the country and we want to ensure we

have the people needed to contribute to the success of this project.”

The job fairs will provide participants with an opportunity to meet with representatives

from Nalcor, as well as contractors with the project. Participants can learn more about

the specific trades and positions that will be needed throughout construction, benefits

and compensation, and how to apply. They can also meet with representatives from

Nalcor to ask questions about the Muskrat Falls Project.

The job fairs will begin in Sheshatshiu on November 13, 2013. The events will continue

in communities throughout Labrador and on the island, concluding in St. John’s on

November 26, 2013.
