Page 1 of 7 This Technical Publication details troubleshooti ng steps to ensure the performance of the ITB Assembly when addressing the issue of a full displacement of the Intermediate Transfer Belt (E075).  It has been revised to correct the Part number of the “Roller, 2 nd Transfer Inner”. DETAILS An E075 can occur when replacing the Intermediate Transfer Belt in the field, or while the machine is in use  by the customer. Ch ecking the valu es under COPIER > DIS PLAY > MISC > ITB -POS indicate s the position of the ITB [1] of P-1. If the value exceeds -300 to +450, an imbalance of displacement to the ITB can occur [A]. If this occurs an E075 error code will occur.   Notes:  Before replacing the ITB Assembly, CCI strongly recommends following this Technical Publicatio n to identify the root cause of the issue at hand.  Make the following four (4) visual checks to determine the present condition of the ITB Assembly. 1. Checking the Bushing. 2. Checking the Front and Rear Transfer Arms. 3. Checking the position of the ITB and the Belt Guide. 4. Checking the conditio n of the Inner 2 nd  Transfer Roller. This Technical Publication details troubleshooting steps to ensure the performance of the ITB Assembly when addressing the issue of a full displacement of the Intermediate Transfer Belt (E075). It has been revised to correct the Part number of the Roller, 2nd Transfer Inner. DETAILS An E075 can occur when replacing the Intermediate Transfer Belt in the field, or while the machine is in use by the customer. Checking the values under COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS indicates the position of the ITB [1] of P-1. If the value exceeds -300 to +450, an imbalance of displacement to the ITB can occur [A]. If this occurs an E075 error code will occur.

Notes: Before replacing the ITB Assembly, CCI strongly recommends following this Technical Publication to

identify the root cause of the issue at hand. Make the following four (4) visual checks to determine the present condition of the ITB Assembly.

    1. Checking the Bushing. 2. Checking the Front and Rear Transfer Arms. 3. Checking the position of the ITB and the Belt Guide. 4. Checking the condition of the Inner 2nd Transfer Roller.

    1. Remove the outer frame of the ITB Assembly and inspect the following, [A].

If the Bushing(s), FC8-4479-010, is bent as shown above, [A], replacement of the ITB Assembly is necessary. Note: If an E075 re-occurs upon replacement, please follow the Servicing Procedure on page 6 of this Technical Publication. If the bushings in the picture above are not bent, please proceed with the next visual check of this Technical Publication.

    2. On some very rare cases Canon Canada has found that either one or both of the Front and Rear Transfer Arms have been cracked in the area of [B]. The area of [B] has been strengthened. If this is found, please replace the damaged Transfer Arm(s) with the newly revised parts [C]. After this is checked go to the next visual check.

    3. Ensure that the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) is inserted inside of the Belt Guide, FL3-4847-000. If not, reinsert the ITB inside of the Belt Guide and proceed with the fourth visual check on page 5.

    4. This last visual check will ensure that the ends of the Inner 2nd Transfer Roller, FC8-4402-000, are not worn. If they are worn, replacement of the Inner 2nd Transfer Roller FC8-4402-000 is necessary. a. Remove the Intermediate Transfer Belt. b. Remove Inner 2nd Transfer Roller, FC8-4402-000, and visually check for the wear marks on the

outer ends of the shaft. See below.

    c. If either outer sides show signs of wear, replace the Inner 2nd Transfer Roller, FC8-4402-000 and the 2nd Transfer Bushing Holder, FL3-1109-000. Apply FY9-6005-000, (Super Lube Grease), on the new 2nd Inner transfer Roller outer shafts and inside of the 2nd Transfer Bushing Holder.

    d. Reassemble the ITB Assembly and perform a COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P > ITB-INIT. e. Proceed with the Servicing Procedure on the next page of this Technical Publication if the

values are out of range or not close to zero. f. If the problem persists after step e, replace the ITB Assembly.

Note: In the next steps, achieving a value that is closer to zero will minimize the occurrence of an E075 error code. If the engine is mounted on a Cabinet Type-B, the next procedure cannot be performed. In this case replace the ITB Assembly to achieve values closer to zero.

Servicing Procedure 1. Be sure to check that the ITB is not damaged. If the ITB is damaged, replace it. 2. When the values are out of range use the following procedure to achieve the targeted values. Rotate the Right Front adjuster clockwise two rotations. Run COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P > ITB-INIT. Then check the value of COPIER > DISPLAY > MISC > ITB-POS. If the value achieves the range noted, test the machine by making some copies, turn the machine OFF/ON, then execute COPIER > FUNCTION > MISC-P > ITB-INIT. Execute ITB-POS again. If the values stay the same or within the range, the process is complete. Achieving a value that is as close to zero is beneficial to minimizing E075 error codes.
