Driving Jersey Producer Steve Rogers travels the state to tell the stories of three people who have found happiness and purpose in life through their passions.
We meet Mike Helbing, whose passion for uncovering stories of life and exploring the scars its left behind is represented through his free hiking tours company in Northwestern Jersey. In Ocean Grove, a kazoo band rings in the 4th of July in the town’s annual Independence Day parade. Now in its tenth year, this sweet tradition adds to the charm of the Norman Rockwell-esque town. Finally, reflect on a woman’s decision to pack up her home after 26 years, as she transitions to a new chapter in her life.
DRIVING JERSEY: LOST & FOUND
MYSTERIES ABOUND ON NJTVDetectives take over NJTV this month, with dramatic mysteries that span multiple continents and decades.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (Tuesdays at 9pm premiering August 12) follows Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis), a woman detective in a male-dominated profession with a devil-may-care attitude, and her investigations in 1920s Melbourne. Based on the popular detective novels by Kerry Greenwood, her investigations take her through back alleys, jazz clubs, and shady neighborhoods, to the dismay of Detective Inspector Jack Robinson (Nathan Page). Phryne ignores the dangers around her and is determined to enjoy every moment, even though ghosts from her past continue to haunt her.
David Suchet portrays suave Belgian super sleuth Hercule Poirot in the final season of the popular Masterpiece Mystery! series, featuring two new episodes, The Big Four (Wednesday, August 6 at 9pm) and Dead Man’s Folly (Wednesday, August 13 at 9pm), based on novels by Agatha Christie. Whether he’s on holiday abroad, taking a countryside break or simply going about his business, Poirot helps police investigate crimes and murders — whether they ask for his help or not.
Need more thrills? Masterpiece Mystery! is re-airing two Sherlock episodes this month: A Study in Pink (Wednesday, August 20 at 9pm) and The Blind Banker (Wednesday, August 27 at 9pm) which are sure to excite viewers. The newest reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes stars Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular detective and Martin Freeman as the incomparable John Watson. The Bletchley Circle is also back this month with a dramatic Season Two (Tuesday, August 12 at 10pm), and Secrets of the Dead returns with a brand new episode The Lost Gardens of Babylon (Monday, August 11 at 10pm).
