DAY 1: Welcome lunch at hotel

Walking tour of Yangon and Shwedagon Pagoda

Special Monk Blessing and Oil Lamp Lighting

Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the The Governor’s Residence (35, Taw Win Road, Dagon Township) at 1:00 PM on the first day of the trip. Head downtown to explore the city center and its fabulous mix of architecture and historical sites. Streets are filled with an array of ancient and modern buildings, many of which have a faded colonial charm which evoke the Burma of a bygone era. You’ll pass by the glittering Sule Paya, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument. Stop for a drink at a local teashop, a great place to watch the world go by and soak in the local culture and lifestyle. Continue to Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar’s most revered Buddhist temple, which local legend claims was originally built 2500 years ago, assuming its current shape in the 15th century. You guide will take you on a tour of this magnificent complex, dominated by the impressive 8-sided, 400 foot tall gilded central stupa. As the sun begins to set you will be treated to breathtaking views of illuminated Pagoda and surrounding skyline. Later you transfer back to The Governor’s Residence in Yangon for a fantastic first dinner at Le Planteur.
