The Treble Choir, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble
are headed to OMEA State Contest Friday, May 1, 2015
OMEA Choir state contest will be held at Highland High School in Medina. The Treble Choir will per-form at 5 p.m. . OMEA Band state contest will be held at North Royal-ton High School. The Symphonic Band will perform at 7:45 p.m. in the large gym and the Wind Ensemble will perform at 9:55 p.m. in the auditorium. Parents and friends are encouraged to come and listen to the groups performed. Please leave plenty of time to arrive and be seated as OMEA regulations do not allow for entry to the performance hall once a group’s stage time has started. Also, please do not bring cam-eras [still or video], or any other type of recording de-vice as these items are forbidden by OMEA rules. All cell phones must be silenced or turned off as well; and, of course, no cell phone pictures are allowed ei-ther. Failure to comply with the items in this para-graph could result in disqualification for OFCS.
Best wishes to all groups!!!!

Congratulations to all students!!! Golden Expressions were golden at ProMusic Festival On Friday, April 17th, OFHS's Golden Expressions trav-eled to Tiffin University to perform and compete in the ProMusic Festival. High school groups from all over the state competed. Congrats to GE who scored a straight one rating at the event. Students had the opportunity to listen to all of the other ensembles in the competition, participate in solo mic workshops, vocal artistry work-shops, beatboxing workshops, and looping techniques. Guest clinicians included members of the acapella group, Groove for Thought, contenders on the Sing Off, Jeanette Berry, and Brad Rees, former back up vocalist to Bobby McFerrin. While on their lunch break, GE sere-naded the patrons of the famous Reino's Pizza, as well as breaking into song after dinner at Tiffin's Bob Evans. The evening ended with a concert put on by all of Tiffin's vocal music groups and a great concert by Groove for Thought. Special thanks to Mrs. Kristin Martin who helped chaperone the day and evening. Click HERE to view pictures of GE’s performance.

Instrumental Lessons Private lessons will be offered this year on flute, clarinet, saxophone, cornet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, percus-sion, voice, and maybe, depending on the amount of interest, French horn, oboe and bassoon. (Availability of lessons will depend on the number of responses for each instrument.) This is an excellent opportunity to help your child enjoy band and choir more by being able to participate at a higher level than before. All students can greatly benefit from lessons. The ad-vanced player will gain a greater depth of understanding and solo performance while the less experienced player will get a
chance to practice the fundamentals they need. Fee is $14.00 for each once a week private lesson. Contact Mr. Feller at 440.427.6333 or [email protected] for more information or to setup lessons for your child.
Private Lessons are a great way to fast forward your child's progress. Lessons are taught one to one, dealing with just your child's skills. Here are some excellent area teachers:
