Term 4 Week 8, 9th December 2009 Phone: 4943 5695 Email: [email protected] MERRY CHRISTMAS This will be the final newsletter for 2009. Thus I take this opportunity to wish, on behalf of myself and all my staff, our community a very happy and safe Christmas and holiday break. I thank all for their input to our school during the year. I also wish all our exiting students and their families all the best for the future and in their studies. Many exiting families have been with the school for a long time and again I thank them and wish them well. Parking in OOSH Grounds I have been asked by Lake Macquarie City Council to advised parents who are parking in the Pony Club Grounds in front of the OOSH not to do this. Christmas Stall Friday The P&C will hold a Christmas Stall on Friday. It will be run in a similar way to The Mothers/Fathers Day stall. All gifts are $5 each. This is s good way to get good gifts for relatives from the children at a very cheap price. IMPORTANT DATES Thursday 10th December - School Musical Monday 14th December - Presentation Day Tuesday 15th December - Class Party Day Wednesday 16th December - Y6 Clap Out Wednesday 16th December - Last Day Term 4 2010 RETURN DATES At HPS the following is what is occurring. Thursday 28th January - Kindy and Year 6 Friday 29th January - Years 1 –5 Other schools may do this differently. Should you know that the children will not be returning on the due date please advise me via a phone call to the office or note/email. On staff development day 27th January the uniform shop will be open from 9am to 11am for last minute uniform needs. Presentation Day Our PD is planned for Monday 14th December. This celebration will be somewhat low key compared to last year's. I do this as a trial based on feedback from last year. Many parents advised of difficulty in getting out of work for a lengthy period. There will be no cultural performances (Choir & Dance) and there will be no guest speaker. The event will start at 9.15 in our hall. Musical A lot of tickets have been sold for tomorrow evening. I thank you all for the support, understanding and cooperation I know will be forthcoming. For the evening session children need to be at school and report to their classroom at 5.30pm. Parents not attending the evening session will be able to collect the children from their classrooms at around 7.30 pm. To alleviate parking problems on the night I will open our lower gate to facilitate parking on our back field. My legal advisors tell me the school has no responsibility to vehicles on our ground so any theft or damage that may occur (be it most unlikely) is at the risk of the owner. On our grounds the speed of a vehicle must not exceed 5k/h. Congratulations Erin Phillot of 6/5A entered an art work competition with Downer Rail. She has been a winner and her art work will be published in a 2010 calendar. She has won herself a valuable gift voucher and the school receives $1,000. Well done and thank you Erin. ASR Surveys Thank you to those who have returned the surveys. I will leave them included in this newsletter for those who have yet to return. I appreciate your cooperation in this. It is very important to our school. Year 6 Clapp Out From 2.50pm on Wednesday 16th December. Parents and friends welcome. Steve Purdon Steve Purdon Steve Purdon Steve Purdon
