SOUTHERN MARYLAND ROUTES

Reasons for Restructuring…

• Routes 901, 906 and 907 contract is set to

expire on October 31, 2013.

• Overcrowded buses and excessive travel times

continue to frustrate passengers.

• Riders need better options to get into downtown

Washington D.C. from Charles County.

• Park & Ride lots have become increasingly

overcrowded.

Route 610 – DC East

– Pick-up locations are

from US 301 lot and

Dick’s Sporting Goods

only.

– Stops in DC include first

five DC stops from

current route 901 up to

12th & G Metro Center.

– Thirteen round trips

– Midday and later PM trip

options on 620 route

Route 620 – DC West

– Pick-up locations are

from US 301 lot and JC

Penny’s only.

– Stops include last seven

DC stops from current

route 901 up to the State

Department.

– Twelve round trips plus a

midday and later

evening sweeper trip.

Route 630 – Existing 907

– Pick-up locations are

from La Plata P & R,

South Potomac Church

and CitiTrends only.

– Stops in DC include all

existing route 907 stops.

– Eight round trips.

– Midday and later PM

options offered on routes

620 and 650

Route 640

– Pick-up locations are

Smallwood Village

Center, Blue Crabs

Stadium, and Accokeek

P & R only.

– Stops in DC include all

current 901 DC stops.

– Eight round trips.

– Midday and later PM trip

Goals for Southern MD Service…

• Eliminate Riders being passed-up because of

full buses

• Expedite Travel Times

• Simplify Service

• Increase Bidding Competition

• Establish new service, including a later AM trip,

more midday and later PM options.
