THE MYOCARDIUM.

RHD = Rheumatic Heart Disease

AV = AtrioventricularOf or related to the atria and the ventricles.

SA = Sinoatrial (node)

In the upper part of the right atrium, Is a bundle of neurons known as the heart’s natural pacemaker.

ASHD = Arteriosclerotic Heart Disease

ASD = Atrial Septal defect

A hole between the atria, if not fixed blood will go into the right atria, enlarging the right side of the heart.

CAD = Coronary Artery Disease

Fatty deposits in the arteries, thus narrowing the arteries.

PFO – Patent foramen ovale

This is a congenital heart defecting caused from the foramen ovale not closing shortly after birth.
