HELLO MYSTICS! Hey Mystics! Welcome to February! With Reading Week it’ll be a short month but we have lots of great stuff planned for you in these 3 weeks! First off, the #LoveIsLove campaign will be running from February 3 until the 14th! We’ll be having photobooths set up all during this campaign so don’t worry if you haven’t had a chance to participate yet! If you want to check out the campaign, go to www.loveislove.ca, visit us on facebook at fb.com/teamloveislove, or send us a tweet at @TeamLoveIsLove! Join us, and help to spread the love! Make sure to check out Residence Society’s Charity Ball: A Night Under the Lights, this Saturday, February 8th, at 9pm. Tickets are $10 if bought in advanced, or $15 at the door, so make sure to buy your ticket soon! All proceeds from Charity Ball will go towards the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Shine A Light campaign. This campaign aims to support refugee girls’ education, by providing the tools they need to learn, to strive, and to succeed. Every $10 donated will enable one more girl to access solar-powered light. Very great event and the society has put lots of work into it so make sure to come on out! The end of January also marks the beginning of Students’ Union elections! Packages for Executive positions and SRC positions will be available at The Hub in Rosaria starting on February 24th. Executive nominations forms are available for any student who will be entering their third year or higher of post-secondary education come September, and are due back at The Hub by Thursday, March 6 th at 4:30pm. Positions for the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) are available for all students, and these forms are due by Friday, March 14th at 4:30pm. Keep Calm and #LoveIsLove On,
Zach Gallant President, MSVU Students’ Union 457-6434 [email protected]

SU SERVICE REBRANDING
The MSVUSU has rebranded a lot of the services beginning the reclaiming Rosaria as the Students’ Union
Building (SUB). The SUB is the campus core for student service, interaction, experience and social activity.
Some of the other services that have gotten a facelift include:
The Crow’s Nest Café is now the Crow-n-Go Snack Bar. Open Monday to Friday, the
Crow-n-Go is the Mount’s one & only on-campus student owned and operated grab
and go convenience store. The Crow-n-Go offers a wide range of convenience items
as well as a wide variety of quick meals for students on the go. This includes baked
sweets, yogurt, wraps, coffee, smoothies, pizza, soups and more. This service will
continue to grow and evolve as renovations begin to take place this year. You can
also find Mount clothing here.
Open 7 days a week, the Crows Nest is the Mounts only 24hr student computer
lounge. Attached to the Crow ‘n Go, the Crows Nest has a lounge space and offers
students access to a number of computers, Wi-Fi, group meeting space, modular
furniture, a bookable meeting room, printing ability and a bookable meeting room.
The Crows Nest is monitored by campus security for any students and groups working
late nights. Lots of furniture changes were made last year and now it has a new logo.
The HUB is the new name for the Students’ Union information desk which provides Mount
students with a large number of services. The HUB is every Mount students one stop shop
for: Printing (B/W, Color and large format printing), photocopying, faxing, clothing,
Mount gear, school supplies, International Student Identity Cards, ticket sales, stamps,
society mail, outgoing mail pick up and more! In addition the HUB also provides the SUB
lobby with wifi, music, vendors, events and a cell phone charging station.
The MSVUSU Wellness Centre is now a combination wellness and diversity centre
and Food Bank that provides Mount students with a variety of services,
information & resources. Physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual
wellness is an integral part of our university community and is embraced by the
Students’ Union. [email protected]

Initiative Bras are one of the least donated items of clothing, yet one of the most necessary. For some individuals
in privileged countries, owning a bra is considered normal, but in other regions of the world, obtaining a bra is a luxury and affording one is difficult. That’s why when the students enrolled in SOAN/WOMS 3371 were contacted by Carolyn Fitzgibbons and learned about her initiative, they decided that they
would help her reach her goal of collecting 1,000 gently used bras to send to women in South East Asia.
The donation location to drop off gently used bras will be in Dr. Alan Brown’s office, Evaristus 440.
Any questions may be forwarded by telephone at 457-6239 or by email at [email protected].
Donations will be accepted until March 3, 2014.

Kristen Morris and Jillian Crowell are our January Volunteers of the Month!
Kristen has been volunteering with us since September 2013. She is enthusiastic and patience with the kiddos and has offered to take on extra shifts to cover times when the FPC schedule was lacking volunteers. Jillian started volunteering with us in October of 2013, and we’ve been so pleased to welcome her to the team! She has a real abil-ity to connect with the children, and develops meaningful rela-tionships with each individual in the centre. Thanks Kristen and Jillian for your dedication and hard work!

CAMPUS UPDATES Art Gallery presents WAR ART NOW Lecture by Dick Averns, Artist & Writer Monday, 10 February 2014, 2 pm
Visiting from Calgary, Dick Averns will recount his experience as an official Canadian war artist, including the selection process, preparation for deployment, and fieldwork in the Middle East. Engaging with the politics of national identity, the content of his artwork deals with the commodification of space: how territories are variously bought, sold, exchanged, bartered or fought over. Averns' presentation will also provide insight to his art-making process in relation to other war art programs, framing a range of approaches to what constitutes war art now. There will be an opportunity to discuss the varying themes portrayed via his use of lens-based media, sculpture and non-fiction writing.
The one hour lecture will take place at MSVU Gallery amidst Averns’ provocative work. Following the lecture, join us for a guided tour of the exhibition Terms of Engagement: Averns, feldman-kiss, Stimson. For more information about the exhibition, including interviews with the artists and an essay by Averns, visit www.termsofengagement.ca.
