Brandy Michaels and the Babettes are back! We’re celebrating 15 years of Mr. Mount this year and that means it’s time for a special Birthday Party! And no one throws a party like the legendary Brandy Michaels! Mr. Mount is not a beauty pageant! Mr. Mount is not a talent show. Mr. Mount is the Mount’s annual amateur Drag King & Queen competition, a one of a kind event where the Mount ladies get to understand how is feels to be one of the guys, and the Mount fella’s get to step into the shoes of the ladies! You can enjoy the show by watching, or you can enjoy it as a contestant! Either way, this is one night you definitely will not forget! Register as a contestant and win cash prizes. Details online at MOUNTSTUDENTS.CA Tickets on sale at the Crow ‘N Go Snack Bar in the SUB $5. One ticket gets you into 2 events...the Mr. Mount show and the after party in Vinnie’s Pub & Student Lounge. Join the event on FACEBOOK and stay up to date on all the anniversary details!

The NEW Mountstudents.ca The Students’ Union has been working on a very exciting website upgrade for Mountstudents.ca and we are finally LIVE! Along with a new navigation, Mountstudents.ca is now operating on RESPONSIVE software. This means that regardless of what you are using (desktop, tablet or smart phone) Mountstudents.ca will auto format itself to your device to provide you with the best optimal viewing. So no more stretching out pages on your phone to view text or event details. In addition, there is also a upgraded calendar feature, you can now view campus events in 5 categories: Students’ Union, Vinnie’s Pub, Societies, Community or Varsity Games. Only want to see events in one or two categories? No problem simply click the other categories off and you’ll only see those events in the categories you choose. Additionally we are also working towards the inclusion of a new online WELLNESS HUB and SOCIETY HUB to better provide Mount students with direct access to information and resources that are important to them. During this upgrade process while we are updating our pages and information there may be a short period of time where access to certain information is unavailable. We ask for your patience during this time as we continue the upgrade process.

SU SERVICE REBRANDING

The MSVUSU has rebranded a lot of the services beginning the reclaiming Rosaria as the Students’ Union

Building (SUB). The SUB is the campus core for student service, interaction, experience and social activity.

Some of the other services that have gotten a facelift include:

The Crow’s Nest Café is now the Crow-n-Go Snack Bar. Open Monday to Friday, the

Crow-n-Go is the Mount’s one & only on-campus student owned and operated grab

and go convenience store. The Crow-n-Go offers a wide range of convenience items

as well as a wide variety of quick meals for students on the go. This includes baked

sweets, yogurt, wraps, coffee, smoothies, pizza, soups and more. This service will

continue to grow and evolve as renovations begin to take place this year. You can

also find Mount clothing here.

Open 7 days a week, the Crows Nest is the Mounts only 24hr student computer

lounge. Attached to the Crow ‘n Go, the Crows Nest has a lounge space and offers

students access to a number of computers, Wi-Fi, group meeting space, modular

furniture, a bookable meeting room, printing ability and a bookable meeting room.

The Crows Nest is monitored by campus security for any students and groups working

late nights. Lots of furniture changes were made last year and now it has a new logo.

The HUB is the new name for the Students’ Union information desk which provides Mount

students with a large number of services. The HUB is every Mount students one stop shop

for: Printing (B/W, Color and large format printing), photocopying, faxing, clothing,

Mount gear, school supplies, International Student Identity Cards, ticket sales, stamps,

society mail, outgoing mail pick up and more! In addition the HUB also provides the SUB

lobby with wifi, music, vendors, events and a cell phone charging station.

The MSVUSU Wellness Centre is now a combination wellness and diversity centre

and Food Bank that provides Mount students with a variety of services,

information & resources. Physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual

wellness is an integral part of our university community and is embraced by the

Students’ Union. [email protected]

Art Gallery

Terms of Engagement: Averns, feldman-kiss, Stimson 18 January through 9 March 2014

Dick Averns, nichola feldman-kiss, and Adrian Stimson were recently deployed to conflict zones as participants in the Canadian Forces Artists Program, launched in 2001 to embed artists alongside Canadian troops. Compelled by narratives of genocide, the traumatic legacy of colonialism, and the War on Terror, their art offers a critical engagement with Canada's international role as a nation of warriors and peacekeepers in a new century of perpetual war.

SPECIAL PRESENTATION & OPENING RECEPTION Saturday,18 January at 2pm. Artists at War: Critical Engagement within the State of Embeddedness with curator Christine Conley in Seton Auditorium A. Following the lecture, join artist nichola feldman-kiss in the Gallery for a guided tour of her work. FREE COFFEE & MUFFINS Take your break at the Art Gallery (off the Seton entrance foyer) Wednesday, 22 January, 9:30 - 11am For more information, contact Susan Wolf at Ext. 6291, or [email protected]
