Hula Dancing is also known as Mêlée.
– Hula dancing (HD) is:
• The essence and spirit of Hawaii.
• A poetic text.
• Movement that is interpreted and performed on the basis of the text.
• Hand and arm gestures combined with rhythmic twisting
and swirling.
Hula dancing provides:
• An initial/beginner to moderate bone building activity.
• A cardio work out and provides an aerobic workout.
• A weight bearing form of exercise.
Hula dancing provides a great way to burn calories.
• The more a person weighs the more calories he or she burns.
• An average person weighing: 130 pounds burns 354 calories per hour.155 pounds- 422 calories/hour.190 pounds- 518 calories/hour
Suggestions
Before dancing one should warm up by:• Jogging in place• Doing jumping jacks• Lunges• Jumping rope. • When you are finished dancing the way to
