COLLEGE APPLICATIONS
Seniors have been working hard on submitting their college applications. For those seniors who have not sub-
mitted college applications, they need to be working on their applications as soon as possible. The ideal target
date for submitting college applications is November 1st. If a college has not already accepted students for next
fall, they will begin doing so very soon. The longer seniors procrastinate, the less opportunity they will have!
Plus, seniors need to notify the High School Counseling Office when they receive acceptance notification. The
“What’s Next ?” board is now outside the office of School Counseling!
PSAT TESTING
All sophomores and juniors participated in the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 28th. This is a practice test
for the SAT. Test scores and test booklets, along with an explanation of the material will be returned to students
in December.
All freshmen also took the PSAT 8/9 Assessment. This test reflects what students are already learning in their
classrooms and will provide benchmarks to understanding students’ progress for future college- and career-
readiness.

Tala Clark and Emily Herbert, both juniors at GCHS and students in
Mr. Pratt’s U.S. History class, display part of their Chautauqua project.
Their project was a fundraiser to help the local Animal Shelter. Their
efforts raised over $1,200 and were also featured in the Greensburg
Daily News.
“Community Service” -An Integral Part of Chautauqua
Other community spirited projects include: The Pooch Parade orga-
nized by Victoria Crawley and Alli Harrison. The two girls raised over
$700 for the local animal shelter. Rileigh Dixon raised over $200 for
the Peace Corps. The homeless shelter, TLC, was fortunate to be the
recipient of funds raised by Austin Underhill and Gavin Amburgey.
Mr. Pratt stated that between $4,000-$5,000 will be the combined
group effort which at least matches last semester’s total. He is extreme-
ly proud of his students accomplishments.

As part of our FFA Safety Series, and a continuation of Hunter Educa-
tion, the Greensburg Agriculture Department worked closely with the
Indiana Conservation Officers to offer a Firearm Safety program to Nat-
ural Resource Management students. Students received instruction in
the classroom and then, true to the Ag Department's motto of "All About
Learning by Doing", students traveled to the Decatur County Conserva-
tion Club to participate in a hands-on "live fire" where students learned
valuable skills in the correct way to safely handle a firearm.
Thank you to all who made this day a valuable training experience!
A big “Thank You” goes out to School Administrators, Indiana Conserva-
tion Officers, Hunter Education Instructors and the Decatur County Sher-
iff's Department for their assistance and support. Also, in support of the
program, Mike Mentz, at Greensburg's Guns & Tackle donated much of
the ammunition that was used.

On Friday, October 9th, Greensburg FFA members traveled
46 miles and 100 years back in time to the historic river town
of Madison, IN. Students participated in a barn scavenger
hunt!
Back in the day, buggy horses and milk cows were com-
mon inhabitants of the city. For the trained eye, there still
stand over 60 barns within the city's historic district. As
participants in the Urban Barn Scavenger Hunt, our mission
was to locate 12 of those agricultural buildings on a self-
guided tour and secure necessary clues and information.

For the successful completion of our mission, at the final barn,
we were rewarded with a meaningful keepsake of a small, cast
iron horseshoe. The experience just goes to show how timeless
agriculture can be if you know what to look for!

13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview is one act comedy starring several talented Drama Club students. The play only last
about an hour and you don't want to miss your chance to see this show! Come out and show your support and let us make you
laugh!
Show Synopsis: When two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs, 13 eccentric, dimwitted and
slightly-insane high school seniors are eager to come in for an interview. What seems like a simple task turns into a nightmare when
the applicants turn out to be a reality TV star, practicing vampire, amateur magician, and others that are much, much worse. Each
applicant's interview hilariously illustrates what NOT to do at a college interview.

BIG BLUE BOOSTER CLUB
Our mission is to enrich the Greensburg Junior High and High School athletic sports
programs by helping to provide financial support for purchasing much needed supplies,
equipment and capital items beyond what the school athletic budget can provide.
The amount of support provided is a direct result of our membership. We encourage
ALL families and friends of GCHS and GJHS to join, get involved and support our athletic
programs.
What does the Booster Club do with the funds raised? In the past the Big Blue Booster
Club has supplemented the athletic banquet costs and provided annual scholarships to
one senior male and one senior female athlete. We have also made donations to the Af-
ter Prom and provided monetary support for supplemental needs of various athletic
programs when requested (such as tennis sound system, basketball palm pilots, swim-
ming record board, etc).
How can you help? Our next meeting is
