The first day of your tour is planned for arrival at either Malaga or Barcelona. Next day in the morning you come to Hispania Tours, where we explain you in detail the daily tracks on your road map and we provide you with a GPS that has the tracks loaded as well. Off you go and for 6 days you discover the most exquisite motorcycle roads in Spain. Your ride ends in the evenings in our selected tour hotels with your room booked and waiting for you. On day 7 you return from your tour and depart back home or spend additional days in Malaga or Barcelona.

This tour leads you initially from Malaga along the coast to the fashionable village of Marbella from where you climb the moun-tain roads of the Sierra de Ronda. Soon you may find out, that the streets of Andalusia are among the most spectacular and impres-sive you have known. The beauty of the white villages of Andalusia

take your breath away, before you reach the elegant and welcoming capital of Seville. Here you rest for one day and stroll through narrow streets, small squares for a breather in the bars of the old town, to enjoy delicious tapas or a glass of wine to drink.

You continue on the roads of the

reservoirs of the Guadalquivier river towards the next Moorish Pearl of this tour in Córdoba, that awaits us with its unique atmos-phere. You visit Granada and its Alhambra and enjoy sheer riding pleasure in the mountain roads of the Sierra Nevada, before you return along the Mediterranean back to Malaga.

Seville, everything that’s quintessentially Andalucian! Here in the region’s capital, the Andalucian way of life is felt with its purest and most intense form. With its Semana Santa (Holy Week), the romantic annual feria (fair), the best tapas bars and nightlife, Seville has nearlly everything. The huge Cathedral with the famous Giralda is an absolute must for every visitor. In the South of the Cathedral rises the Alcázar (Moorish palace), a magnificent building, which is closely linked with the lives of several famous rulers. The Barrio Santa Cruz, the former Jewish quarter of the city, offers delightful places that are lushly planted with flowers and orange trees.

CORDOBA

Cordoba is a city for strolling. It is a pleasure to walk through the maze of the old town, where the Mezquita is located in its center. With its gorgeous, red-yellow arches the Mezquita is one of the most sublime Islamic monuments. Or you stroll through the narrow streets of the Judería (the former Jewish quarter) with its little squares and flower-filled patios. The Medina Azahara is also worth visiting, it is the most impressive archaeological site of Andalusia approximately 8 km west of Córdoba. It was built between 936 and 945 by Abd ar-Raman III. The excavations have so far opened only 1/10 of the site.

GRANADA

Granada is famous for the amount of historic buildings from Moorish, Gothic and Renaissance periods. The city is world renowned for its nume-rous guitar makers. The most remarkable buildings of Granada from the Moorish period belong to the fortress of Alhambra (from Al-hamra-u: „The red one“). It is a set of palaces, the largest secular facility of its kind in Spain, that were used as the residence of the Moorish Kings in the 13th and 14th century. The Alhambra is famous for its stucco ceiling and the lion fountain. Alhambra and Albaicín, the former Moorish residential area, are world cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Sierra Nevada is one of the highest mountain range in Western Europe, after the Alps. It´s maxi-mum height is reached on the Mulhacen Peak at 3.482 meters. In 1986 it was declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and in 1999, a great area of its territory was declared National Park for its natural, botanical and landscape values.

“Los Alpujarras” are valleys that extend along the landscape for 70 kilometres in the south flank of the Sierra Nevada. Its White Villages are a Not to Miss in the area, one of the most picturesque corners of Andalusia. Arid slopes divided by deep ravines, alternate with white farmhouses like oasis surrounded by beautiful gardens.

SIERRA CAZORLA

With 214,300 ha, the „Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas“ natural park in the northeast of the province of Jaén, is the largest reserve in Anda-lusia. It is most famous for its enormous forests - these trees are the ones which supplied the wood for the Spanish Armada. The Río Guadalquivir has its source in this part of the Baetic Cordille-ra mountains. It runs through a broad valley and collects in the Tranco reservior. On the other hand its tributaries, such as the Río Borosa for example, have often cut deep ravines into the mountains, which increase the scenic beauty of these Sierras enormously.

CABO DE GATA

Cabo De Gata is located in the province of Almería in southeastern Spain. Approx. 33,663ha of the peninsula is a protected natural park. The vegeta-tion here is unique because the climate is dry and very warm by European standards (2,900 hours of sun per year), and the area has the status of a Biosphere Reserve. The Cabo de Gata has a rocky coastline and is bordered by mountains in the hin-terland. The-geological origin lies in strong volca-nic activity in the region. The highest point of the area is the Pico de los Frailes at 493 m, itself an extinct volcano. Along the beaches between San Jose and the two eponymous capes you can clearly see where lava has flowed into the sea.

During the first days you discover the beauty of Andalusia on your way from Malaga to Sierra Nevada. From here you cross the Alpujarras, famous for their Jamon Serrano bars, before you reach the the nature park of Cabo the Gata, where you spend the second part of the tour and celebrate New Year´s Eve. Here you enjoy the scenic roads along the mediterranean seaside and fun curvy mountain roads in the backcountry.

You enjoy the beauty of nature of Andalusia on twisted roads which weave their way between

mountains and sea. In the region of Andalucia you will find some of the best biking roads around, fantastic mountain passes and costal roads are begging to be explored. DESERT OF TABERNAS

Did you realise that Europe’s only desert is in Andalucía? Clint Eastwood, Peter O’Toole and Harrison Ford certainly know this. Spaghetti westerns were so called because director Sergio Leone was Italian, but perhaps they should have been named paella westerns because several were filmed in Almería – in the Desert of Tabernas, to be precise. The “badlands” of Spain proved an ideal body-double for America’s Wild West in such movies as For A Few Dollars More, which starred a young Mr Eastwood.

The roads of Andalusia are until a certain point still a secret among the biker community. Nevertheless, it is a fact, that the combination of scenery and road conditions in Southern Spain are unique and full of surprise. During the five riding days of the Touringcenter you will explore the entire range of coastal roads, mountain pass roads and endless twisters. All settled in a authentic spanish environment full of white villages, wonderful people and great food.

RONDA

Perched on an inland plateau riven by the 100m fissure of El Tajo gorge and surrounded by the beautiful Serranía de Ronda, Ronda is the most dramatically sited of all the pueblos blancos. Just an hour north of the Costa del Sol, Ronda is a world away from the coastal scene.

With its setting, quaint old Islamic town and a romantic place in Spanish folklore, Ronda has fascinated travellers from Dumas to Hemingway and beyond. For most of the Islamic period, Ronda was the capital of an independent statelet, and its near-impregnable position kept it out of Christian hands until 1485. Modern-day alternative-lifestylers have set up home in and around the town, adding an arty touch.

MARBELLA

Marbella has a magnificent natural setting, sheltered by the beautiful Sierra Blanca mountains, as well as a surprisingly attractive casco antiguo (old town) replete with narrow lanes and well-tended flower boxes. During its long history it has been home to Phoenicians, Visigoths and Romans, as well as being the most important town on the coast during Moorish times. Arab kings still own homes here, as do plenty of rich and famous people, such as native malagueño Antonio Banderas.

Once a link between the Atlantic coast and the lands of southern Spain, for many centuries The Silver Route was a main communications route from North to South. Originally it served the spread of Roman culture, later, during the Middle Ages, it was used by Arabs and Christians alike. Riding through this magnificent scenery, our route takes us via Ronda to Seville, the capital city of Andalusia. YUSTE MONASTERY

Yuste Monastery is hidden by the southern flank of the Sierra de Gredos. Yuste Monastery, founded by Iberian Hieronymites, was the last refuge of the Emperor Charles V, who was at the time the most powerful man in the world, Holy Roman Emperor of German nations and King of the Spanish world empire in which the sun never set. He spent the last years of life here from his arrival in November 1556 to his death in September 1558.

Like many other villages in Extremadura, Zafra also contributed its share to the „conquest“ of the American continent. We know the names of 221 people that were involved with Lope de Aguirre in his Amazon campaign, that can trace their roots , via Zafra, to their Roman origins.

CACERES

The Ibero-Celtic settlement was founded in about 54 BC by the Romans under the name of Norba Caesarina. In 1165 the city was made an inde-pendent principality by Geraldo the Fearless, a Portuguese adventurer.. Alfonso IX. finally pre-vailed in 1229, and took the city for the Kingdom of León. Besides Istanbul, the Aljibe in Caceres is the largest rock-carved cistern in the world. In 1986 Caceres received the status of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

ALCOCER (EL CID)

Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, el Cid, was a Castilian knight from the time of the Reconquista and a Spanish national hero. Just as the fabled Atlantis was never found, this place was discovered in the 80‘s to be was one of the sites of the „Cidliedes“ - the tradition of passing on stories by song.

MONFRAGÜE NATURE PARK

Monfragüe was made the 14th National Park of Spain in 2007, and the first in the region of Extremadura. The park is particularly well known because of the many large birds of prey which nest there. The park houses the largest colony of monk vultures in Europe. In this park you can observe the Spanish imperial eagle, black stork, griffon vulture, eagle owl, golden eagle and Bonelli‘s eagle.

The Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela surrounds the westernmost part of the Iberian dividing range, which is home to the highest mountains of the Portuguese mainland. LISBON

As Portugal‘s largest city, with the country‘s main port, the seat of government, the supreme state government agencies, six universities and the Academy of Sciences, Lisbon is the political, eco-nomic and cultural center of the country. Due to its location on the Tagus, for a long time the only way south from Lisbon was via ferry. The Ponte 25 de Abril (1013m span and 2287m in length) was completed in 1966 and for the first time connec-ted Lisbon with Almada on the south of the Tagus.

BRIDGE OF ALCÁNTARA

The bridge of Alcántara is a Roman stone arch bridge in Spain, in the eponymous town of Extre-madura about 5 km before the Portuguese border spans the River Tagus. It is regarded as the most significant surviving Roman bridge in the world. Legend has it that a golden sword is walled up in the foundations of the bridge; a further legend says that this is the sword of Roderick, the last Visigoth King of Toledo.

SEVILLE

Seville, whose foundation dates back to the anci-ent legend of Herakles the Greek hero, was already an important commercial centre before the arri-val of the Romans and was called „Hispalis“ in antiquity. The city flag of Seville, as well as the coat of arms, bears the text NO 8 DO. The „8“ is represents a skein of wool or „madeja“ in Spanish. The motto, therefore, reads „NO madeja DO,“ a play on the sentence, „No me ha dejado“ or „She [the city] has not abandoned me“. This play on words is accredited to Alfonso X, who penned the motto to thank the city for its support during his exile, in which he lived from his dethronement until his death.

FES The city „Medinat Fas“ was founded in 798 by Moulay Idris on a site that is today called the Andalusian quater. In the course of its history, Fes has been the capital of the country for several dy-nasties and is therefore considered one of the four royal cities of Morocco. This example of an ancient oriental city has been a World Heritage Site since 1981, under the protection of UNESCO. Its deep blue pottery is considered the symbol of Fes.

MARRAKECH Marrakech is a word from the Berber language and possibly means „The land of God.“ The name „Morocco“ for the entire country was derived from the city name Marrakech. Because of the large number of architecturally significant buil-dings, such as the Koutoubia Mosque from the year 1162, the Kasbah of the 12th c. and the Ben-Jusuf Medersa from the 14th c., the old town became a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1985. The main attraction of the city is the Djemaa el Fna square, the world-famous medieval market and execution site. Today it is a lively place with food stalls, oriental storytellers, snake char-mers and jugglers.

RABAT Rabat is the capital and third largest city of the Kingdom of Morocco. Relaxed, well-kept and very European, flag-waving Rabat is just as cosmo-politan as Casablanca down the coast, but lacks the frantic pace and grimy feel of its economic big brother. Its elegant tree-lined boulevards and imposing administrative buildings exude an unhur-ried, diplomatic and hassle-free charm that many travellers grow to like.

THE HIGH ATLAS The High Atlas rises from the west by the Atlantic Coast and runs eastwards until the Moroccan-Al-gerian border. On the Atlantic end the Sous valley falls steeply to the southwest and forms a striking contrast to the northern coast and the Anti-Atlas. It is also a major barrier to the weather, sheilding northern Morocco from the hot Saharan summers to the south. The highest peak, the Mount Toub-kal, rises to about 4100m.

Erg Chebbi According to legend Erg Chebbi, one of the largest sand dune areas in Morocco, was created as a punishment from the Gods to the locals for not of-fering assistance to a travel weary caravan. The 22 km long and 5 km wide dune belt lies about 40 km south of Erfoud and is the southernmost point on our tour. The starry night sky in the desert will be a life long memory for you.

Salzburg is storybook Austria. Standing beside the fast-flowing Salzach River, your gaze is raised inch by inch to the Altstadt’s mosaic of graceful domes and spires, the formidable cliff-top fortress and the mountains beyond. It’s a view that never palls. It’s a backdrop that did the lordly prince-archbi-shops and home-grown genius Mozart proud.

The Dolomites

The Dolomites are like no other mountains in Europe. They consist of thick layers of the mineral ‘Dolomite’, akin to limestone, originally deposited on the floor of an ancient sea. The Dolomite peaks are gigantic, chiselled monuments to the powerful forces of glacial erosion. Continuous sheer cliffs flank most of the peaks. They are amongst the most striking of all European mountains, coloured in weathered hues of rose, yellow, white and grey and rising in steep spires of fantastic form.

Silvretta Bielerhöhe - High-Alpine Road

The Silvretta High-Alpine Road is considered to be one of the most beautiful and popular panora-mic roads in the Alps. It is 22.3 km long and runs from Partenen in the Montafon (1,051 m) through a total of 34 bends to the 2,032 m-high Bieler-höhe (toll road) as far as Galtür (1,584 m) in the Paznauntal.

Passo Stelvio

The original road was built in 1820-25 by the Austrian Empire to connect the former Austrian province of Lombardia with the rest of Austria, co-vering a climb of 1871 m. The engineer and pro-ject manager was Carlo Donegani (1775–1845). Since then, the route has changed very little. Its sixty hairpin turns, 48 of them on the northern side numbered with stones, are a challenge to motorists.

The permanent exhibition covers a surface area of some 4,000 m² and houses more than 120 of the most valuable and attractive automobiles, motor-cycles and engines from nine decades of BMW history.

To go on a selfguided tour is a real comfortable way to be on the road in Spain. These tours combine our knowhow of the local motorcycle routes and accomodations with your independent riding experience. This is also a perfect option for couples!

The first day of your tour is planned for arrival at either Malaga or Barcelona. Next day in the morning you come to Hispania Tours, where we explain you in detail the daily tracks on your road map and we provide you with a GPS that has the tracks loaded as well. Off you go and for 6 days you discover the most exquisite motorcycle roads in Spain. Your ride ends in the evenings in our selected tour hotels with your room booked and waiting for you. On day 7 you return from your tour and depart back home or spend additional days in Malaga or Barcelona.

You ride to the amazing rocks of El Torcal and the El Chorro gorge, followed by Ronda and via Tarifa to Conil de la Frontera where the kilometres of sandy beaches on the Atlantic coast tempt you to take a walk before continuing in the direction of the Sierra Nevada, passing though the fascinating towns of Arcos de la Frontera and Antequera onto Granada. Before crossing

the Sierra Nevada you visit the town of Guadix famous for its cave dwellings. Finally you head for the Alpujarras – bend after bend accompanied by the unique scenery of this region.
