MOTORCYCLE MECHANICS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (HARLEYDAVIDSON EMPHASIS) Lee County Campus | 1105 Kelly Drive | Sanford, NC 27330 PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Motorcycle Mechanics certificate program at Central Carolina Community College is the only program in North Carolina that offers a Harley-Davidson emphasis. The company fully supports our program through the donation of motorcycles (from Touring to V-Rod) and other items that are used as instructional materials in our certificate program. Central Carolina Community College provides students with the basic knowledge and the optimum training needed to inspect, diagnose, repair, and adjust Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Program topics include servicing, power trains, electrical systems, and chassis. Furthermore, students gain a thorough understanding of the operating principles involved in modern motorcycles through participating in class assignments, discussions, demonstrations, and shop practices. The broad-based knowledge obtained through the certificate program can improve one’s employability. With the growing interest in motorcycle ownership, there are increasing demands for qualified service technicians for all motorcycle manufacturers. ADMISSIONS INFORMATION The Motorcycle Mechanics Certificate program is an evening or day program that is two semesters in length. The program only begins in the fall semester (August). Individuals interested in applying to this program should expect the following: • Complete all admission requirements in a timely manner. • Eighteen applicants will be selected for admittance into the evening program and fifteen applicants into the day program each fall. Applicants are eligible to begin the program when all admission requirements have been completed. • Applicants who have submitted all admission requirements, but did not get admitted into the program will be placed on a wait list. Financial AidTuition is paid at the time of registration and is based on credit hours for that semester. This certificate program is not covered by federal grants. The college does not have an educational loan program.

Textbooks/Other EquipmentTextbooks are required for some, not all, of the courses in the Motorcycle Mechanics program. The textbooks can be purchased at the Central Carolina Community College Bookstore located on the Sanford campus. Some materials and equipment, such as tools, are supplied to our college for student use. However, courses may have additional supplies that need to be purchased.

Length of ProgramThe Motorcycle Mechanics Certificate program is two semesters in length. Students take a total of 15 semester hours: five semester hours during the fall semester, and 10 semester hours during the spring semester.

Day courses are instructed: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Evening courses are instructed:Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 6:00 p.m. – 10:35 p.m.

Graduation occurs at the end of the spring semester.

All classes are held at the Lee County Campus, Sanford, NC.

Diploma or Certificate?Students pursuing the diploma program take a total of 47 semester hours. Courses include topics such as Motorcycle Mechanics, Chassis, Fuel Systems, Engines, Dyno Tuning, Electricity, Machining, Welding, English, Math, and Computers.

These courses are taught on a variety of motorcycles and courses are instructed full-time during the day. The placement test is required for the diploma program.

Students pursuing the certificate program take a total of 15 semester hours. This program only consists of four courses: Introduction to Transportation Technology, Basic Transportation Electricity, Motorcycle Chassis, and Motorcycle Engines. These courses are taught on Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the program is instructed part-time during the day or evening. The placement test is not required for the certificate program.
