THE COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

Digital evangelism and outreach is at the heart of the communications and engagement strategy at the diocese. You will have the opportunity to use your existing digital skills to share the Good News. The small team produces short films for the social channels – we are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You will learn how to update our website and contribute to increasing and improving its content. We also produce a diocesan magazine, Inspire and an e-Bulletin and you will be encouraged to contribute written materials for these.

We support parishes to become more skilled in their use of social media to improve the impact of their communication with their communities. We are aware that the churches in the diocese have a lack of younger people, therefore we want to expand our methods of communicating with the under 35 year olds and believe this will necessitate the need to be more innovative and creative. This is likely to involve working with the schools in the diocese through our education team.

THE PLACEMENT

Your placement with us will run from September to July. We are keen for you to develop you gifts and talents, and to discover new ones! We’d be looking for you to commit to 20-25 hours a week with the Communications team.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to spend time with some of the other diocesan teams working in mission, social action and education.

Our Communications Director, Sarah Whitelock, will be your main supervisor, working under the guidance of our Diocesan Secretary, Sam Pratley.

Focus on Digital Evangelism with Hereford Diocese.

We are thrilled to be offering an opportunity for someone to take part in the New Wine Discipleship Year with us at Hereford Diocese.

The year is an opportunity to discover more about your faith, to build you foundations as a follower of Jesus and to equip you better to share the good news face to face and through your creative talents online and on social media.

The placement involves working on digital evangelism and discipleship production projects as part of the Hereford Diocese Communications team.
