Here we are at the start of a new season. Much work has been done throughout the

off season and much additional work will be done in preparing for the upcoming

season. Items completed are covered in Bob Villella’s report. The budget has been

prepared and approved as of 2-6-16 and will be covered by Ruby in the Treasurer’s

report. Some highlights are: addition of a maintenance man; continued use of a

professional bookkeeping firm; additional security coverage, just to name a few.

These additions are needed and have been requested by many members over the

past year. All are expensive and add to our budget. Many things have been done

over the past year. I published an article last September on Facebook that I know

many haven’t seen so I am including here in its entirety:

(Unedited)

First let me apologize for what will most likely be a long post. I purposely waited till

after the election to post this, and did not put it in the Labor Day newsletter which

was out before the election, so that no one could say anyone was playing politic.

While I have never disagreed that additional communication vehicles were needed, I

have always stated that the BOD worked within the guidelines that you, the member-

ship provided, within either the Rules & Regs, or By Laws, and we will continue to do

that. I have also suggested on here for years now what you really are asking for is

the same thing that you get in your community which is a real time synopsis of BOD

meetings. I have also suggested that the same way you get those in your community,

which is via the news channels, either TV or print, could be done at Moraine if a

group wanted to take it upon themselves to publish such information, and to date no

one has come forward willing to do that.

So while many have said the BOD has done nothing, or the “LEADERSHIP” has done

nothing, let me mention just a few of the things that were done this past year. This

list will only be a few items, that you may or may not know about, but all were im-

portant. All of these have been discussed at BOD meetings, special meetings, and

some in past newsletters also. This is not to pat anyone on the back, as no BOD

member is concerned about recognition for doing what they do, however I know the

good work being done, and the countless hours spent weekly on campground issues.

Many of us spend over 20 hours a week handling the business, or issues, and do so

without hesitation.

Some things that have been done by the BOD as a team. It is not important whose

ideas these were, or who made the motions, but all that information is available with-

in the minutes of all the meetings, for those who may need or want to know. But rest

assured the BOD and the “LEADERSHIP”, have done many good things this year

1. Moved $100,000 to the Sewage plant to defray members assessments

2. Moved an additional $40,000 to sewage plant contingency to cover and members

who may pay late

3. Set aside an additional $20,000 for the vehicle committee to upgrade the aging

fleet

4. Set aside an additional $13,000 for road improvements, and tree cutting

5. Purchased new communication devices for all staff to communicate effectively

6. Authorized the purchase of 2 new pool heaters to be ready for next season

7. Spent 1000+ hours creating a new accounting system for our financial books

which included all new reports being created.

8. Renovated main building men’s room and laundry at over a $10,000 expense

9. Added additional security coverage/hours on weekends

10. Hired professional bookkeepers to manage our accounts payable/receivable,

and manage our books, along with doing our payroll

11.Spent considerable time working with engineering firm on the new sewage plant

project

12.Began initial phase of meeting with member to design and implement a new web

page for the Campground. Which will solve some of the communication issues.

Much work still needed here to do it right the first time.

13.Spent considerable time working on water and sewage line breaks

14. Put together plan to minimize rain water run off issues in D section. Projected to

be completed by spring.

15.Discussed at a high level security options with security experts. This will be an

ongoing item in to next season. Also, upgraded security surveillance in sections of

the campground.

16.Created office procedure manual

17. Working with local fire company and Brady Township to begin project install dry

hydrant to be used to pump water from lake in the event of a fire. Some costs will

be picked up by Brady Twp.

Again, just a few of the many items the BOD has worked on throughout the past 12

months. Thanks to all who have been involved.

Welcome back! There are lots of things going on in the campground. Jon and the

maintenance crew have been very busy over the winter overseeing the new sewage

line installation through G Section, cleaning the water plant, etc. We are also in the

process of discussing what projects we would like to get started and completed this

season. One project to think about would be to paint the rest of the fencing and the

back of the A-Frame building. We need volunteers and all help would be greatly ap-

preciated. We are also in the process of doing inventory on our equipment and sup-

plies so we have what we need and do not waste expenses on things we already

have.

On behalf of the BOD, I would like to welcome back Deb and Tony Callahan, who will

be leasing the store again this year. Running the camp store is a hard job but a con-

venience for our members. Please patronize the store whenever you can.

The BOD has at the recommendation of the Audit and Budget Committee voted to

add a $45 assessment to our dues. I, along with everyone else at MCA did not want

this assessment but I, along with most members want more out of maintenance,

security and other functions that cost more money. Therefore I am in agreement

with this increase. I am going to be heavily involved in projects around the

campground this year and would like to extend an invitation to join the Maintenance

Committee and volunteer to help get these projects off the ground and completed. I

will put out a notice of a Maintenance Committee meeting in the spring. I wish eve-

ryone a safe and enjoyable camping season at MCA.

Bob Villella - Vice President / G-Section Representative

Continued from Page 2

The above was published in September 2015 detailing some of the items that have

been accomplished over the past year. Since that article was written, we completed

the acquisition of a third new vehicle, upgraded our fleet and are in a better position

than we have been for quite some time. Currently the vehicle committee is putting

together plans on vehicle usage. We have installed a new main sewer line that will

feed the new plant. That project costs over $85,000. As far as the sewage plant

itself, we are still waiting DEP approval of our permit before we can move forward.

As a result of tremendous rain and flooding in D section last season, we installed

additional drainage in that area. There is always more to do but we got this started.

There is a team working on an official camp website that will include a public page

about our camp and a private section for members only where we will be able to

publish items like: Rules & Regs., By-Laws, Meeting Minutes, etc. This is still a few

months away and as it becomes available it will be communicated. As always,

volunteers are needed on all committees. Please consider volunteering some of

your time. We will be completing the painting of the fence along Staff Road and

painting the A-frame this season. Help is always appreciated.

Another year is here…are you ready to open up camp? I know I am ready for sum-

mer to get here to relax with friends and enjoy our beautiful camp. Many people

have been working hard this off season so that we can enjoy our second home. As

you are aware, the budget has been approved by the Board and our annual dues &

assessments were increased this year by $45. I worked with everyone involved in

the budget process and I can assure you that raising dues & assessments, especial-

ly this year, was not easy for anyone to propose or vote for but was a necessity.

Many things have increased over the last few years and we were lucky to have some

significant savings last year to help absorb some of the costs. Your additional $45

is going toward several things that many campers have requested; things that are

required and the Budget Committee and the Board agreed.

The following were a large part of the increase:

Contracting a bookkeeping firm for our bookkeeping needs. This results in a

more secure and accurate method of maintaining our accounts as well as a rec-

ommendation from our annual auditors.

Increased costs required by the EPA for our Sewage plant testing.

Increased Security Hours.

Added additional maintenance staff to increase work on projects and upkeep

around our campground.

As always, any of this information is available by request. You can review the budg-

et reports in the office or obtain a copy for 25¢ per page.

We received our Sewage Assessment Notice in late November for $660 which is

due March 31, 2016. As you know, the sewage plant has been in the works for

about 10 years now. We were able to keep the costs down from the original project-

ed amount published for the last few years of $1,000 to $660 per lot. This was due

to the massive turnout to vote to use the BIA Funds for this project as well as utiliz-

ing funds from our capital improvement account to keep the costs as low as possi-

ble. We have set up a separate account for all our Sewage Project expenses to

make it easier for anyone who would like to review a copy of the information, as is

policy, all copies are 25¢ per page.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to seek me out. I will be more than

happy to help you or point you to someone that can.

Hello fellow campers. Let me start by telling you how much I appreciate all of your

support at this last election! This is my first time on the Board of Directors and it

has been enlightening so far. I have no personal agenda, I just want everyone to

have a fair say. I would like to thank the BOD, previous and present for their hard

work. Some decisions are hard to make but I feel in all accounts taken, that they

are well discussed at meetings and that choices made are the best for our

campground.

We have a lot of work to do to keep our camp great. I've been coming to camp for

20 + years and I've had lots of fun and made great memories in that time. I have a

wife, Debbie and 2 kids, Eric and Jacob and would love to see my kids have this for

their kids. We need to keep improving on things to ensure MCA lives on beyond our

years.

I've been appointed Architectural & Inspection Committee Liaison. Brady Township

has increased their building permits to $100.00. You can visit the office or contact

me at B-5 if you have any questions or concerns. Inspections will be starting in the

spring. Please be sure that your air conditioner, extra refrigerator stickers, as well

as your lot numbers, are visible from the road. I am looking forward to a great and

safe season with many to come.

Hi everyone, my name is Chrissy and I am excited to be your new Office Coordinator.

Let’s have a great Camp 2016 Season!

Keys to a great camping season:

*Everyone has to fill out a “Computer Change Request Form” (To ensure that we

have the correct address and phone number on file so that no one misses out on

important camp info).

*No personal mail is to be sent to the office. All personal mail is returned to sender.

*Proof of golf cart insurance must be submitted.

*Make sure checks are written out to Moraine Camplands Assoc. Ensure that you

include your lot number and list what items you are paying for. Those that still need

to submit your Sewage Assessment, please make sure it is a separate check.

Thanks and have fun!

Chrissy Hasenflu / Office Coordinator

On behalf of the Church Committee, we look for-ward to everyone returning to Non-Denominational Prayer on Sundays from May 29 - September 11. There will be coffee and donuts prior to prayers from approximately 9 - 9:45 am. Special thanks to the volunteers who have given so much of their time to make this service happen. Bill Campbell- Chair, D-160; Barb Bane – Co Chair, D-2; Linda Hahn - Treasurer; June May – Secretary and all the members that make

this happen.

We may be able to start the Catholic Mass on site at camp once again. Catholic Mass volunteers are need-ed immediately. However, this will not happen if we do not get volunteers to set up and tear down and commit themselves immediately to form a committee. We are in dire need of a Chair per-son, etc. If you are interest-ed please contact the office and request your name and lot number be placed on this committee sign-up sheet. Please leave an email address or contact number so that I can reach you to organize

a meeting.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Audit & Budget Committee for their hard work to keep the increase to the lowest amount possible. The Committee (who prepared) and the BOD (who approved) didn’t take this increase lightly. We are also campers and some people seem to forget that fact. Some of us are also retired, unemployed, on disability and on a fixed budget. It may be bad timing along with the sewage assessment but it is a necessary step to keep up with inflation and the operation of our campground. This is the first increase in 5 years. Please under-stand that your BOD’s number one priority is for the continuous operation of MCA and the common good of all campers. Thanks for your understanding.

Bill Oyler / B Section Representative B-6

F RO M A S E C T I O N Thank you for the opportunity to represent A section and the privilege to serve on the BOD. I’m halfway into my 1 year term and I find it enlightening and enjoyable.

I would like to talk about how we can save money. I have been reviewing the treas-urer’s reports since September and there is one bill that has stood out to me...the electric bill. It happens to be the largest and the easiest for campers to control. We need to do our part to save on electric. Some trailers still utilize 12V converters. Did you know that turning on your porch light may require additional power from your converter that is equal to using a floodlight? They are also very expensive for you to replace if needed. I included additional energy saving tips on page 9. If you have any questions or concerns, come see me at A-25. I’ll do my best to help you.

Volunteers are needed if you would like to be a part of the Sports and Teen Commit-tees, call or sign up in the office. If you aren’t interested in committing, we would

still welcome your help and ideas for individual events.

Smile! The best is yet to come.

GREETINGS 2016 FELLOW CAMPERS AND FAMILIES!

Welcome Back! We are really excited for Spring and seeing everyone back at the campground. To me, fellow campers are like a second family and I look forward to being around so many of the wonderful people that I have met over the years of be-ing a member. I would like to make everyone aware that we have some great lots for sale at the campground with ideal locations. Please let your family members know that they are available. The cost is $6,810 which includes the sewage assess-ment. We have a couple lots with a lake view which recently became available and I am sure will sell very quickly once members become aware. There are many other lots for sale throughout the campground. Please contact the office for a viewing and they will contact one of the people on the Sales and Promotions Committee. I would like to thank Arlene Timmons, D-85; Dennis Kingston, H-31; Jim McKelvy, E-5; Anita Scolaro, E-125 who are all willing to show the places for sale. Sales and Pro-mo offers a listing at the office $50 per season, $10 per month. An additional $10 with the seasonal option will also place your ad on the website. I wish everyone a wonderful 2016 experience at our family owned campground and look forward to

welcoming new members.

F RO M L A K E C O M M I T T E E We have several plans for the summer months. The committee would like to re-place the benches around the lake and also make several new benches. Towards the end of summer, we would like to restock the lake with fish. Anyone who would like to sign up for this committee, please stop at the office or call 724-794-6242.

We could use all the help we can get from the campers.

*Set thermostat to 78°

*Turn off A/C when you leave your trailer

*Turn off lights when leaving a room

*Use power strips to power down TV's, computers, game

stations, phone chargers, etc. when not in use

*Replace outdoor lights with solar lights

*Add caulk or weather stripping to seal air leaks around

doors and windows

*Change furnace filter

*Set refrigerator temperature to 38°- 40°

*Check the seals of your refrigerator doors. If it cannot hold

a dollar bill, it is not efficient. Something as simple as your

fridge or trailer not being level could prevent your fridge

from sealing properly

*Turn your thermostat down while you are sleeping

*Open curtains on your south-facing windows during the

them at night to reduce the chill
