“Reach for the Stars”
From the Principal, Miss Sarah Perrett
Dear Parents & Care Givers,
We near the end of an extremely busy, but
very productive semester. Both students and
staff have earned themselves a well
deserved break. Parents, may you cherish
the holidays with your children and enjoy not
making school lunches or washing uniforms.
Student Reports and 3 Way Interviews
Student reports will be emailed out and
distributed next Thursday. On Thursday 25th
July (week 1, Term 3) there will be three-way
parent, teacher and student interviews from
11.35 am. This is a 15-minute session to dis-
cuss your child’s achievement and progress
following the Semester 1 reports, as well as
setting goals for the second semester. A
timetable was emailed home or alternatively
contact the office to book your preferred time.
Year 5/6 Resilience and Well-Being Expo
Our Year 3—6 students attended the annual
Football/Netball Carnival in Southern Cross.
This is a day to allow students in these years
to participating in a sport of their choice–
netball or football. The students were able to
play in teams with a mix of students from our
school, Southern Cross DHS and St Joseph’s
Primary. Once again we can be very proud of
our students and the sportsmanship they
displayed throughout the day.
There were plenty of smiles on the students’
faces and it was pleasing to see them
develop friendships with students from the
other schools.
Congratulations to Claire Birtles who was
recognised as being Fairest and Best for her
team.
Football and Netball Carnival
Yesterday Year 5 and 6 students went to
Merredin with schools from the district to
learn about the harm drugs and alcohol can
cause to self and others, how behaviours can
affect others and lead to crime; as well as
improve students’ understanding of making
good decisions and goal setting.
I encourage you all to attend our final
assembly for the term on Friday 28th June at
9:00am, where the Junior Room will be
showcasing their learning from this term
through an entertaining and informative
performance!
Following the assembly there will be a
Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea and
open classrooms, concluding around 11am.
Please bring a plate of food to share.
Junior Room Assembly & Biggest Morning Tea
From the Principal, Miss Sarah Perrett
Finally I would like to wish everyone a safe
and relaxing holiday. Staff resume on Mon-
day 22nd July, with students returning on
Tuesday 23rd July.
Holidays Next Friday (5th July), students are able to
come to school in free dress and raise money
for RSPCA (gold coin donation). This charity is
chosen by the Student Leaders and the
money raised will assist in rescuing, rehoming
and rehabilitating all
creatures great and
small.
Free Dress Day
NAIDOC Day
NAIDOC Week is from
7th—14th July, and as
these dates are during the
school holidays, we will be
recognising NAIDOC Week
in week 2 next term. The
theme of NAIDOC Day is ‘Voice. Treaty.
Truth’ which focuses on working together for
a shared future. Our students will be joining
those from Southern Cross DHS and St Jo-
seph’s PS for an afternoon of activities and
awareness. More information will be provided
early next term.
Timetable Changes
There will be a few changes to the timetable
for next semester. Art will be replaced by
Music, and Physical Education (sport) for both
classrooms will be on Tuesday afternoons,
allowing the classes to combine to practice for
the YSSSA Athletics Carnival in Term 3.
I am very pleased to
announce that our
school has been suc-
cessful in being accept-
ed as a Circuit Breaker
School for 2019.
This is a program run by
Western Power for students in our Senior
Room who will learn about the various as-
pects of the Western Power network and ex-
ploring what it takes to provide electricity to
our community so it is safe and reliable, as
well as exploring new technologies that are
changing the way we look at electricity supply
in the future.
Throughout the program, students will have
access to a Western Power Engineer who will
meet the students and share their knowledge
of our network and assist where required.
I look forward to sharing our progress in the
program and successes of our students
throughout the year.

Photo Competition
Are you good at photography? Would you like to have a photo you took displayed at
Moorine Rock Primary School for years to come?
The school is seeking 1-2 landscape/scenery photos (with greenery and possibly blue
sky) that reflect the local Moorine area (farming, rocks, native flora/fauna) to display in the front
office. Photos need to be taken in high resolution as they will be printed onto canvas. This
competition is open to children and adults, amateurs and professionals.
To enter: print a colour copy of your photo onto A4 paper and send into the office
with your name and contact details on the back. Competition closes Friday 18th
October, 3pm. Maximum of three entries per person.
On Friday 21st June we attended the YSSSA Football and Net-
ball Carnival at Southern Cross. The Senior Room travelled on
the bus to Southern Cross to participate. We played 4 games of
football or netball and we all enjoyed it. My favourite part of
the whole day was shooting a goal in netball.

Health Excursion
On Monday 24th June the Year 5-6 went on a
trip to Merredin for a health excursion. My
favourite activity was finding out how much
sugar was in a certain drink. Zion’s favourite
was the art where we designed our own
hats.
