Tis The Season…………for Head Lice! Tips for tackling kids head lice
Head lice are transmitted by combs/brushes, friends, hair bands, school bags, bed linen. Once the louse bites it sucks on the scalp which leaves the itchiness.
Lice can be found anywhere through the hair or on the scalp, they can live out of the hair for 15 to 20 hours. It does not matter whether your hair is clean or dirty, they take what they can get - therefore, the presence of lice is not an indication of poor hygiene. Lice do not transmit diseases.
Use hair conditioner and a fine head lice comb.
Apply conditioner to the hair and comb through with a wide-toothed comb to remove the tangles.
Then use a fine metal lice comb to remove the lice and pull the nits off the hair.
The conditioner helps slow down the louse and makes it easier to comb out.
Reduce transmission by tying hair back and braiding. We now it's hard for young girls to consider this cool, but try it!
Regularly check your children's hair. For more information go to the "Nitbusters" website www.health.nsw.gov.au/publichealth/environment/headlice/index.asp
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME AS LONG AS TREATMENT/MANAGEMENT IS UNDERWAY. Time from infestation to eggs hatching is 5 to 7 days, so be vigilant and examine hair carefully even after treatment.

PRINCIPAL NEWS This week brings us to Week 7, Term 4, which means “rollover” time in schools
right across the state. This can be and usually is, a very stressful time in
most schools but thanks to the dedication and organisation of our wonderful
Mrs Nash has put into fine tuning school administration processes and
practices, this year is ‘rolling over’ very smoothly.
We have many events to look forward to as a school in the remaining weeks of
this term. This year we have worked hard towards meeting our three strategic
directions. We have kept these three directions in the forefront of our minds
when deciding and planning all events. When planning our end of year events
one of our highest priorities was to create more opportunities for parents and
community members to come into our wonderful little school. We also wanted
to give students greater opportunities to be recognised for their successes
and to perform. So this year we have broken some of our events up and spread
them over multiple days and different times so everyone may have an
opportunity to attend. Bring your picnic rugs and camp chairs and join us for
our Awards Al Fresco. Attached to this week’s newsletter is a flyer,
highlighting our many wonderful events over the coming two
weeks. We all look forward seeing you hopefully at one or
more of these events.
Our very special visitor who usually attends our presentation night will be
coming to our Community Christmas Celebration on Monday 12th and bringing
his own special treats for all the good little boys and girls that are coming along.
SRC FUNDRAISER The SRC will be selling frozen
icypoles at lunches times for 50c.
Transition
Don’t forget; if you know someone that would like to join our Transition Program for next year, please encourage them to contact the school and register. Ph 67603151
Library News
All library books are to be returned to the library by next Friday 9 December. Borrowing will
resume again next year. THANK YOU to our student library helpers for the year. THANK YOU
to staff who have worked hard to migrate us across to the new system and for making our
library space such an enjoyable part of the school. THANK YOU to Mrs Cheryl Johnson for her
hours or book covering, you have moved mountains!.

Corie - The people were very good at playing the instruments.
Josh - I liked listening to them play the Xylophone.
Lauren - I liked how they made animal sounds using music.
Joel - I liked dancing to the music.
Following a near miss incident earlier this week, parents and carers are encouraged to be mindful when parking around the school fences. Please keep an eye out for students walking or riding and keep the pathway clear.

HIGHLIGHTS
FROM THE
CLASSROOMS
Rosellas. The students have been very busy decorating the classroom for Christmas. In Literacy we have been researching how different countries around the world celebrate Christmas and their different traditions. We have displayed some of this information in our classroom. This week we are looking at how we celebrate Christmas in Australia. Don't forget next week students will be presenting a sentence/ or name they have learnt in Auslan to the class. Miss Reilly
Hawks
Opals Mathematics class have really been focused on their maths activities. All students have been working well together, sharing their knowledge and supporting one another.
Budgies.
Kindergarten's homework last week required them to create a trap that could catch Fantastic Mr Fox. They also had to help their parents make dinner. I think they did a great job! Please remember to send in any Christmas things you have and your secret santa present. Our carol and movie note are also due.Mrs Begley

THIS WEEK IN THE
KITCHEN GARDEN
What’s Growing?
This week in the garden students continued working on the fence project. Students have been using wire to connect the painted pot plants to the fence. The students have joined nearly 10 pots with many more to go. Some students even started planting Snapdragon seeds in some of the pots. The students cannot wait to see these seeds grow into beautiful Snapdragon flowers. Numerous varieties of snapdragon exist with dwarf, intermediate and tall flowering stems that provide a range of colors to work with in the garden. Snapdragons are available in most colors except blue and co-ordinate or contrast with other early spring bloomers. It is important to plant snapdragons in a full sun location with well draining soil. Further care of snapdragons includes appropriate watering. When growing snapdragon, keep moist for the first few weeks. Once established, snapdragon care includes regular watering. Provide approximately an inch of water per week in times of no rainfall. Miss Reilly.
Last week students cooked delicious gingerbread biscuits. I would like to say a big thank you Cheryl Johnson for testing the new recipe for us last weekend to ensure there wouldn’t be a repeat of last week’s almost disaster.
Hermarni: It was really exciting making these gingerbread cookies. The icing was delicious. I loved making them!
Indi: I really liked them and also making ginger cookies. Loved them!!!
Seth: They were yummy.
Wil: They were too ginger.
Lauren: I liked making the
gingerbread.
Taylor: They were yummy.
