InadditiontothetraditionalMoog952keyboardandanon-screenrecreationoftheoriginalMoogModel1150RibbonController,theModel15alsoincludesanewiterationoftheAnimoogkeyboardforextendedperformanceexpressionpossibilities.
TheModel15isMIDIcompatible,andeachknobandswitchcanbeassignedaMIDICC#toallowforexternalcontrolfromanyMIDIdevice.MIDIBridgeallowsMIDIvaluestobesenttoandreceivedfromotherapps,whileAudioBridgeallowstheModel15tooperateasanInter-AppAudioinstrumentoreffectprocessor,capableofaddingdynamicfilteringtoatrackinanotherapplication,forexample.
MODULARSYNTHESISOVERVIEW
Longbeforetherewerekeyboardworkstations,samplers,digitalaudio,andgroove-boxes,themodularsynthesizerwastheinstrumentthatputelectronicaudiocreationonthemap.Asthenamesuggests,theseinstrumentswerecollectionofwell-chosenmodules.Eachtaskinthecreationofelectronicmusic(generatingasound,sculptingthetone,controllingthevolume,etc.)requiredaspecific,dedicatedmodule.Groupsofmodules(Oscillators,Filters,EnvelopeGenerators,etc.)couldbeinstalledintoasinglecabinetsharingastablepowersupplytocreateasynthesizersystemsuchastheoriginalMoogModel15.Withnearlynoexistingorpre-wiredphysicalconnectionbetweeneachmodule,externalpatchcableswereusedtoallowaudio,control,andtriggersignalstomovefreelyfrommoduletomodule.ThisabilitytohaveonemoduledeliveraControlVoltage(CV)signaltoanothermoduleisthefoundationoftheVoltageControlledsynthesizer,includingVoltageControlledOscillators(VCOs),VoltageControlledFilters(VCFs),andVoltageControlledAmplifiers(VCAs).Theonlypre-wiredexceptionweretheedge-connectorsusedtoconnecttheoriginal921AOscillatorDrivertothetwo921BOscillators.Inrecentyears,theemergenceoftheEurorackformatandthepopularityofcompactsemi-modularhardwareinstruments(includingtheMoogMother-32)haveusheredinarenaissanceintheopen-endeddesignofthemodularsynthesizer.

ABRIEFHISTORYOFTHEMOOGMODEL15
In1973,Moogreleasedanumberofmodularsynthesizersystemsdesignedformaximumversatilityandequippedwiththelatest921SeriesOscillators,whichwerehailedfortheirstabilitywhencomparedtotheoriginal901Series.WhilethelargerSystem35andSystem55camehousedinafinishedwalnutcabinet,themuchmoreportableModel15featuredalatchingcoverforthecontrolpanel,andcamecladintheblackvinylwraptypicalofguitarampsandspeakercabinets.TheinnovativeModel15—alongwithitsmatching952keyboard—allowedfortwo-voiceoperation.TheModel15wentoutofproductionintheearly1980s,butwasreintroducedinahighly-limitedproductionof150piecesbyMoogin2015.Thefollowingyear—2016—sawtheintroductionofthisModel15App.

TheMoogModel15requiresiOS9.3orhigherandhasbeendesignedtorunon64-bitdevicesonly:iPadPro,iPadAir,iPadMini2,iPodTouch6,andiPhone5Sornewer.ThedisplaywillautomaticallyadjusttomakethebestuseoftheavailablescreenspaceinbothPortraitandLandscapemodes.
SETUPNOTES

THEFRONTPANEL
Thefrontpanelhasbeendesignedforintuitive,immediatecontrol.Takeafewminutestogetfamiliarwiththefeatures,functions,andoperationsdescribedinthissection.
PINCHZOOMANDPANGESTURES
Thetwo-fingeredpinchandstretchgesturewillallowyoutozoominandout,respectively,onthefrontpanel.Youcanalsousetwofingerstopanaroundandnavigatethefrontpanelforfocusonspecificcontrols.
TIP:Thesepangesturescanbe“flicked”tomovewithgreateragility.
MODULEZOOM
Double-taponanindividualmodule—usingasinglefinger—tozoominoroutonthatparticularmodule.
NOTE:Besuretotaponanemptyareaofthemodule;tappingonaknob,switch,orpatchpointmaycauseavaluechangeorinitiateanewpatchcable.
TURNINGAKNOB
Toturnaknob,touchtheknobandslideyourfingerupanddown,orleftandright,tochangethevalue.ThisisthedefaultLinearmode.
NOTE:IntheSettingssection,underConfiguration/Knobs,youcanchoosetheCircularmode,wheretouchingtheknobandmovingyourfingerarounditinanarcwillchangethevalue.

• MAKINGACONNECTION
Beginbytouchingajackanddraggingyourfingerslightly.Apatchcablewillappearconnectedtothejack.Nowslideyourfingertoanewjackandliftyourfingertoconnectthecable.Onlythejackseligibleforthispatchcablewillbehighlighted;everythingelsewillbegrayedout.
TIP:Whenpatching,youcanuseasecondfingertonavigatethefrontpanelatthesametime.

Youcanalsodouble-tapajacktoinitiateapatchcable,andthendouble-tapthedestinationjacktocompletethepatch.Onceyouhavestartedapatchcableinthismanner,youcanuseeasilypanaroundthefrontpanel.
• CABLECOLORSELECTION
Patchcablesappearwiththecolorrandomlyselected,butyoucanalsoselectthecablecoloryourself.Todothis,touchandholdajackanddragyourfingerslightly;amulti-colorarcwillappeararoundthetopofyourfinger.Chooseacolorforyourpatchcablebydraggingittooneofthecoloredareasandholdingitthereuntilthenewcolorisselected;thendragyourcabletothedestinationjack.
• CHANGINGAPATCHCABLECONNECTION
Onceyouhavecreatedapatchcableconnection,youcaneasilychangewhichjacksitconnectsto;justplaceyourfingeroneitherendofthepatchcableandslideittoaneweligiblejack.
• DISCONNECTINGAPATCHCABLE
Todisconnectapatchcable,toucheitherendofthecable,dragitawayfromthejacktoanemptyarea,andliftyourfingeroffthedisplay.Thepatchcablewilldisappear.
• MAKINGTHEPATCHCABLETRANSLUCENT
Atwo-fingereddouble-taponthescreenwillmakeallofthepatchcablestranslucentforeasierviewingofandaccesstothefrontpanel.Thesameactionwillreturnthepatchcablestotheiroriginalstate.

• ARP(ARPEGGIATOR)
TheARPSwitchactivatestheArpeggiator,playingthroughthenotesinarhythmicpatterndeterminedbythecurrentArpeggiatorsettings.
ARP(ARPEGGIATOR)
AnArpeggiatorisawayofautomaticallyplayingthenotesheldonakeyboardinarhythmicpattern.PatternscanbesavedandloadedindependentlyfromaPreset,sothatyoucanusethesamepatternwithdifferentsounds.
Touchthe[+/-]boxtoopenorclosetheadditionalARPparameters.
TIP:TheArpiteratesthroughallvoiceswhentheModel15isinPolyphonicmode.ThiscausespatternstosoundverydifferentfromMonophonicmode.Experimentwithboth.

• MASTERCONTROLS
TheMastercontrolsfortheArpincludeanOn/Offswitch,aLATCHbutton,aRETRIGGERbutton,andtheMasterGATELENGTHknob.
ON/OFFSWITCH
YoucanturntheArpeggiatorOnorOffusingthisswitchwhichreplicatesthefunctionoftheARPOn/OffswitchfoundontheKeyboardandAnimoogcontrollers.
LATCHBUTTON
TheLATCHbuttonprovidesaseparatefunctionfromtheHOLDswitchonthecontroller.WhentheHOLDswitchisengaged,eachnewnotewillbecontinuallyaddedtothepattern.Bycontrast,theLATCHbuttonwillalsoallowyoutoaddnewnotestothepattern,butwillresetthenotesinthepatternonceyouhaveremovedallfingersfromthecontrollerandtoucheditonceagain.Thismakesitsimpletoarpeggiatechangingchords.
RETRIGGERBUTTON
Normally,theArpeggiatorwillcontinuetocyclethroughtheentirelengthoftheArpPattern(seePatternLengthbelow).WhentheRETRIGGERbuttonisOn,theArpPatternwillresettothefirststepifplayanewnoteafterfirstremovingallyourfingersfromthecontroller.
GATELENGTHKNOB
