HIGHLIGHTS

I. Health Care:

‘AALAMBANA” a Rehabilitation Centre constructed for HIV/AIDS affected children was handed

over to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home, Prathipadu, East Godavari District for utilization. The centre

will benefit 50 AIDs infected children and enhance the quality of treatment and care.

19 nos. Eye Camps using ‘Netrajyothi’ Mobile Eye care Van (provided by RINL-VSP), were

organized through Visakha Eye Hospital Trust during the month in peripheral villages of

Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram districts. A total of 1481 patients have been tested and 307

suspected cataract cases were referred for surgery. 144 surgeries were done free of cost by Visakha

Eye Hospital, Visakhapatnam (Cumulative in this FY: Total camps: 106, Tested: 9933, Ref.:1528,

Surgeries performed: 923).

Supply of Drinking water to four RH colonies & surrounding villages was taken up covering 13000

beneficiaries /day.

2 RO units were installed under ‘Sujala Pathakam’ at Bowlewada & Kundaram villages of

Anakapalli Mandal of Vizag dist.

II. Promoting Education:-

Adult literacy classes in progress in all the 25 centres in 10 peripheral villages of Visakhapatnam

steel plant covering 625 adults.

III. Empowerment:

Vocational training programs in driving, tailoring, fabric painting etc. covering 320

unemployed youth are in progress in RH colonies & peripheral villages of VSP.

IV. ‘Swachh Bharat’ & ‘Swachh Vidyalaya’:

53 activities involving 1014 employees under Swachh Bharat were carried out in various

Departments of VSP & Mines during the Month. Daily Reports on “Swachh Bharat”

Campaign received from plant areas are compiled and sent to Ministry of Steel (MOS).

Participation of Senior Management:

A) Participation of Director (P) in Swachh Bharat Activity at VSGH premises:

The premises of Visakha Steel General Hospital were cleaned, wherein Director (P)

& other Senior Officials, Doctors and paramedical staff participated.

B) Employee participation in cleanliness drives inside the plant

C) Township area:

“Shram Dan” undertaken at the Electrical Substation of Sector 2 wherein 46 employees of

Town Administration Department participated.

D) Swachh Bharat at Mines:

A plantation drive was organized in Madharam Dolomite Mines wherein 50 employees

along with A.P State Pollution Control Board officials participated.

Swachh Vidyalaya

1. “Bala Swachhta jagruti “ programmes :

Awareness Program on sanitation and importance of cleanliness was organized in one school in

surrounding villages of Visakhapatnam steel plant covering 120 nos. Children. Short films by

UNICEF on sanitation were shown to the children during the programme.
