I'm happy that you're my teacher

I enjoy each lesson you teach.

As my role model you inspire me

To dream and to work and to reach

With your kindness you get my attention.

Everyday you're planting a seed

Of curiosity and motivation

To know and to grow and succeed

You help me fulfill my potential;

I'm thankful for all that you've done

I admire you each day and just I want to say

As a teacher, you're number one.

A teacher is one who always does good things for his/her student. Teachers can change the world by their good deeds. A teacher always motivates us and teaches us that “failure is success if we learn from it."A teacher is the only person who comes before our parents. They teach us and they always suggest us the right path.

— Harshvardhan RawatClass IIIA-1, Rajajipuram II

Teacher is a Candle burning brightA teacher is like a candle burning bright

Illuminating the world around with its light!

He teaches his students to read and write

Clearing their doubts with all his might!

He imparts the wisdom and knowledge of education

Remaining throughout our source of inspiration!

In class he spreads the message of Love and Peace

But explodes with anger with homework done at ease!

Like wax he melts and consumes himself

Filling the air with a fragrance of the self!

Holding the flag of destiny in his hand

He makes them Total Quality Persons with a wand!

Like a smouldering candle he remains humble till the end

Working with a selfless devotion to the students to mend!— Akshita

My Teacher — My Best Friend

This may initially sound weird to some students, but it is true – my teacher is my best friend. Over the years she has transformed from being my teacher to my mentor. Now that I look back on the day I first met her, I realise that I have been very lucky indeed. My story begins on my first day I was a new student, and I felt as uncomfortable as a fish out of water. Don't get me wrong, all the students were very friendly and were willing to help me, but I still felt shy. Things turned interesting when I heard that an inter-house elocution competition was to be held the next day. Influenced by a sudden burst of courage, I volunteered for it. After all, I had to earn reputation. The next day, the competition began in the Morning Assembly, and every orator's worst nightmare came true for me — I started having hiccups. In front of everyone, right into the microphone. Words fail to describe how mollified I felt. My classmates did not say anything to me directly, but they did look at me with silent disgust.I spent the recess in an isolated corner, too miserable to cry. That was when my class teacher found me. Within seconds, she understood everything. She talked to me soothingly, and after that, I never, ever felt out of place.Over the years, she has truly become my mentor. Her tips and suggestions have proven to be invaluable more times than I can count. I'm trying not to preach anything, but trust me, once we amend our perspective, we'll realize that every teacher has our best interests at heart. We only need to trust and respect them, and they'll lead us towards success. Truly, our teachers are our best friends.

I pray for peace in all countries of the WorldChildren’s World Parliament pledges to work for

World Unity, Peace and Justice

We, Sri Lankans, see "Odyssey Literary Festival" as a microcosm. Odyssey is like an umbrella that covers up many fields through literature.

Literature means human experiences and deals with aesthetic element of human soul, therefore literature can play a vital role in changing the attitude of people from negative to positive. An event like Odyssey is a powerful way to plant the seeds of peace and understanding among nations through the English language. The ultimate goal of education is to attain life's goal, this objective is very well promoted through Odyssey Literary Festival.

Through Odyssey, CMS is rendering a great service to the mankind by promoting English, the global link language and bringing forth the literary skills of young scholars besides promoting world peace and understanding among nations by building proper awareness among young generation through interaction between children around the globe.

These young students will convey the message of peace to the world.

Best CMS Teachers are Environmental Educators Let us hear what they have to say

SEPTEMBER 2012 (5)EXAMINATION SCHEMES & INTERVIEWS

What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches. ~Karl Menninger

Ms Nisha Kaul, EED Teacher of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, declared Best CMS ICSE Teacher for 2011-2012

1. What are the inspiring factors in your success?

I owe this honour to my parents who taught me the importance of Education by narrating success stories of educated men and women from all over the world. My teachers instilled in me the desire for learning. My colleagues and friends, through their competitiveness, made me aspire for higher goals or targets.

2. How do you make learning about the environment and our responsibilities towards it, interesting for students?

I try to make whole teaching learning process more interactive and interesting by asking various kinds of questions. Besides giving students extra information and facts related to the topic, I make them write answers under headings and in points and make them highlight key words. This makes them grasp quickly.

3. How is CMS different from other institutions?

CMS strives for all round development of the child in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. It lays special emphasis on individual attention and interaction of students and teachers.

4. How do you think the CMS Teacher-guardian and Home Visit schemes help the students?

CMS teacher-guardian and home-visit schemes have proved to be very effective in fostering a strong bond between school and home which means between teachers, students and parents. When a teacher visits the student's house he/she shares the student’s educational and personal problems with parents to seek appropriate solutions for them.

5. Do you have any special message for your fellow teachers and students?

Just keep yourself focussed towards your goal. Keep a positive outlook. You can do well by believing in yourself; plan, and act accordingly.

Mr Rohit Mishra, EVS Teacher of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, declared Best CMS ISC Teacher for 2011-2012

1. Congratulations Sir, on the outstanding success of your

students. How do you feel?I am very happy about the outstanding success of my

students. Most important is they all have been very receptive

and have studied very hard. I am elated and feel proud of them. 2. What were the inspiring factors in your success?

The inspiring factors in my success have been the dedication of my students,

work environment, encouragement and co-operation, understanding nature

of fellow teachers and their timely help.3. What measures can you suggest for imparting environmental education to

students in a more interesting way?The measures can be:(a) Imparting education practically through models and presentations

related to the regions suffering from water scarcity, problem of pollution,

metal toxicity and deforestation.(b) By participation of children in projects related to problems of

environment and ways to solve them.4. How do CMS Teacher-Guardian and Home Visit schemes help the students?

It really helps because we come closer to the problems faced by students. We

become more approachable to them. They become interactive. Home visit is

taken up by parents very positively; they discuss the problems faced by them,

creating thereby a situation of excellent performance and proficiency of

students.5. Do you have any special message for your fellow teachers and students?

To the teachers: We all should be dedicated and consider the school as

Lighthouse of society and work for the good of children. To students: All the students should work hard with single mindedness of

purpose and complete devotion to achieve success in life.
