Current R&D projects are focusing on high power, high performance monoblock filter designs, which are capable of displacing air-cavity filters in many applications.

CTS high performance filters are designed for cellular base station -covering all major protocols including AMPS, DCS, WCDMA, CDMA, GSM, EGSM, TDSCDMA, PCS, AWS, UMTS and LTE.

Our monoblock RF filters are optimized for superior performance depending on where (Rx or Tx) they are required.

• Macro base stations may typically have multiple transceivers per base station, with each transceiver requiring at least 2 BPF - or 1 duplexer and additional BPF. CTS' latest RF ceramic filter technology is designed to offer optimized performance (rejection, insertion loss and power handling) along with small package size.

• Base station applications may typically have, in TDD applications, 2 single bandpass filters per transceiver (one for Tx and one for Rx), or alternatively in FDD applications, a single duplexer for the entire transceiver. Customers who are migrating to multi-channel architecture should reference to CTS's Actiplex™ and RTP product families.

ActiPlex™ — A “disruptive” filtering technology that can enable designs of single board, multi-band micro cell base station or multi-band remote radio head architectures.

• ActiPlex™ is a system enabler for designers using a family of duplexers and filters that gives superior performance with premium space savings, enabling smaller base station platforms.

• Filter characteristics: - Average power rating of 10W to 20W - 7.5 to 1 peak-to-average power ratio - Board mounted design enabling significant size reduction and alternate design strategy - Flexible choice of BPF and duplexers to meet different filter response

• The main application of the Actiplex™ product line is to provide front-end filters for base station with power ratings between 10W and 30W, with up to 200W peaks - an economical alternative to standard air-cavity filters.

CTS offers over 15 standard duplexers and 50 standard band pass filterswith industry leading low ripple performance.

Repeaters cascade filters and amplifiers in order to boost the RF signal.Most repeaters cascade filters in series with an amplifier in betweenthem to achieve the rejection that is required. Points to consider:

• Ripple and rejection are additive when filters are in series • Too little rejection will cause signal distortion • Too much ripple will reduce the distance a repeater will transmit due to the introduction of more loss into the system

CTS’ low ripple filters offer superior electrical performance: • Low ripple - as low as 0.3dB over the entire passband reduces distortion and dropped calls due to amplified signal from cascade • High rejection - as high as 50dB reduces the affect of amplified attenuation caused by cascading filters and amplifiers • “Best in class” ripple-to-rejection performance ratios • Frequency ranges from 800MHz to 5.6GHz • Monoblock construction - better reliability (MTTF >400 years), ease in handling and assembly

CTS has high performance filters designed specifically for TCAS and InMarSat.

TCAS is an aircraft collision avoidance system designed to reduce theincidence of midair collisions. TCAS transponders operate at 103MHzand 1090MHz.

InMarSat is a publicly owned company that owns and operates a constellationof satellites providing mobile communications to maritime, aeronautical and land-based customers. Operating frequencies are 1525MHz – 1559MHz and 1626.5MHz – 1660.5MHz.
