    WHAT IS METROBANK MOBILE BANKING SERVICE ?

    Metrobank Mobile Banking Service (MBS) is a reliable and convenient alternative for bank account holders to access their Metrobank account/s using their mobile phones. The service allows customers to access basic banking functions, perform payments and purchase prepaid load.

    Enrollment Procedures There are now two ways to enroll to Metrobank Mobile Banking:

    Via depository Metrobank Branch Via Online enrollment through MetrobankDirect.

    Simply visit the Metrobank branch where your account is maintained, approach the New Accounts desk.

    1. Fill out the Metrobank Mobile Banking enrollment form. The New Accounts Clerk (NAC)

    shall process your enrolment immediately. 2. Key in your temporary 6 –digit MPIN upon request of NAC. This MPIN shall be used to

    confirm all your mobile banking transactions. The user shall be required to change his MPIN before he can make any transaction.

    3. Receive an SMS confirmation upon approval of the Branch Operations Officer (BOO).

    II. Online enrollment via MetrobankDirect A faster way for Metrobank customers to enroll to Mobile Banking is through MetrobankDirect. Customers must enroll first to MetrobankDirect. Once enrolled and logged in they must go to Options > Enroll > Mobile Banking Enrollment

    Fill up the form by selecting own and 3rd party accounts to be enrolled. Nominate a temporary MPIN and click Continue.

    Verify the enrollment details, enter the SMS OTP sent to the registered mobile number and click Confirm

    An acknowledgement message will be shown on the screen. This will also be sent to the email and through SMS (if this function was enabled on by the user in MetrobankDirect’s Security Tools > Alerts and Notifications > Enroll Mobile Banking System)

    Upon successful enrollment to Mobile Banking, the mobile system will send the applet link to users with Java phones. Android, iOS and other smartphones will not receive the applet link.

    III. Eligibility for Enrollment

    Retail Accounts Joint “OR” Accounts For credit card accounts enrolled to MetrobankDirect is not available for enrollment to

    Mobile banking.

    IV. Enrollment Notification

    For MBS users via Java phone: Upon approval of the enrollment, user will receive a total of 3 SMS notifying him/her that the enrollment was approved, instructions to stop receiving messages and the link to the mobile banking applet.

    For MBS users via Smart Menu: No need to download any applet or app, user may disregard the link and go directly to his Smart Menu to activate his mobile banking service. For MBS iOS and Android App Users: App shall be downloaded from the App store(iOS) and Google Play (Android). User may also disregard the link. User may download the app prior to enrollment.

    2 ENROLLMENTS, 3 ACCESS POINTS

    Users who wish to use the MBS Applet have to download and install the applet using the link that was sent together with the SMS notification that the account was activated.

    Users who intend to transact via Smart Menu need not download the link, because they can just access their MBS account from their Smart Menu.

    Users who wish to use the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch or Android app should also disregard the link sent because they should download and install the app from the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android.

    Key Points to Remember

    The service is available 24x7 Requirements on cellphone model depend on the access point the users chooses to use

    MBS Applet o Java-enabled phone that is MMS/GPRS ready o Smart Menu o Any mobile device with Smart SIM IOS App o iPhone, iPad, iPad Mini, iPod Touch Android App o Android devices OS version 2.3 and higher

    An email address is not necessary to enroll to this service. However, when a user indicated his email address in the enrollment form, he will also receive the transaction notifications via email.

    Forgotten MPIN may be reset at the depository branch or any of the branches of his enrolled accounts or thru MetrobankDirect if enrolled.

    Termination/suspension of MBS enrollment shall be done at the depository branch Users may contact us thru our Contact Center Hotlines (8700-700 or thru 1-800-1888-

    5775 for provincial areas). They may also email their concerns at [email protected]

    Enrollment Enrollment is free of charge The service is available to all individual Metrobank clients with Peso savings and current

    accounts and with active subscription to any of the Telco providers (Globe, Smart, and Sun). Subscribers of sub-brands (TNT, TM, etc.) of major Telco carriers are also supported.

    Users may access his MBS account using more than 1 mobile phone, they just have to indicate their other mobile phone numbers in the enrollment form

    Users may also enroll multiple own accounts and 3rd party account – just indicate the account numbers in the enrollment form

    Enrollment of additional mobile number and accounts shall be done at the depository branch

    Activate the Mobile Banking Applet

    Enrollment Notification

    Upon approval of the application through the branch, you will receive a total of 3 SMS notifying you that your enrollment was approved, instructions to stop receiving messages and the link to the mobile banking applet. Note: Java users who enrolled through MetrobankDirect, will only receive the applet link

    * If you do not receive the link to the applet, you may send “Metrobank Get” to 0917-8516282 and the link will be sent to you via SMS.

    Downloading the Mobile Banking Applet Download the mobile banking application (or applet) thru the link contained in the message. The link has an expiry of 7 days, otherwise you will have to request for the link to be resent.

    * GPRS or Wi-Fi connection is a pre-requisite to download the Mobile Banking Application. As such, GPRS charges will also apply.

    Installing the Mobile Banking Applet

    Upon successful download, locate the downloaded file. The file is usually downloaded in your Applications folder. The default folder may vary depending on the phone model. To easily locate the downloaded file, look for the Metrobank logo in your Applications folder

    * Certain phone models may ask the user to allow application to use certain services on their phones during Installations such as allowing the applet to send and receive messages.

    Getting Started on the Mobile Banking Applet Upon opening the applet for the first time, you will be required to change your MPIN.

    You will receive an update message in your mobile phone. The applet will automatically ask for permission to start the update process. Click “YES” to proceed with the update. Once done, a message confirming the success of the update. Click “OK” to launch the Mobile Banking Application.

    Download and install the App Activate the App

    After you download, click on the App button on your screen. You only need to perform

    activation of your MBS iOS App once. Get Activation Code

    o Enter the Enrolled Mobile No. o Click “Submit” o You will receive the Confirmation Message asking if you wish to proceed with

    getting the activation code. Click “Confirm” o An 8-digit Activation Code shall be sent to the Enrolled Mobile No.

    May I use any cellphone brand/model? MBS Applet You may use any Java-enabled cellphone unit that is MMS/GPRS ready.

    How secure is it to do banking transactions via Metrobank mobile banking?

    Security is one of the first things we considered in developing Metrobank Mobile Banking. For one thing, all transactions require you to key in your MPIN. Also, firewalls are used to prevent any unauthorized access to information and all messages go through an encryption process to ensure its security.

    Enrollment Is there a service charge for enrolling in this facility?

    Enrollment is free of charge; however, there will be regular charges applied by telco providers on data usage.

    Who may enroll to Metrobank Mobile Banking? Metrobank Mobile Banking is available to all individual Metrobank clients with peso

    Mobile Banking enrollment form. Have the NAC process your enrollment. Key in your nominated MPIN and once processed, you should receive a text message

    advising you of the steps you need to do to activate and download the mobile banking application in your phone.

    If the registration is successful, you will receive a text message confirming the activation of your mobile phone to Metrobank Mobile Banking, after which you may begin using Metrobank Mobile Banking immediately.

    indicate your bank account number(s) on the enrollment form.

    Do I have to have an email account to avail of this service? No, an email account is not a mandatory requirement. An email address is optional. This will just serve as a back-up for all the notification

    messages you will receive when you start using the service. Aside from duplicate SMS for transaction notification, you will also receive enrollment status such as approval of requests and other notification related to the service such as maintenance schedules and service updates.

    What do I do if I want to enroll additional accounts whether my own or another person’s account?

    Enrolment of additional accounts whether your own or someone else’s, are currently being processed at the depository branch where you enrolled your mobile banking service. For Smart MBS, only OWN accounts will be reflected in the list of bank accounts.

    MBS Applet users may need to update his account list to access the additional accounts enrolled. While MBS via Smart Menu users need to activate the Metrobank mobile banking in the Smart SIM again to update the list of bank accounts. * Third Party accounts enrolled as target accounts may only be seen using the Metrobank MBS Applet.

    Downloading of MBS Applet

    I tried to download the link but I received the error “Packet Data Unavailable” or Subscribe to Packet Data First”, what does this mean?

    This means that your phone’s GPRS/MMS settings are not yet activated.

    While trying to download the link, the screen displayed this message “The link you are trying to download has expired. To request for a new Link, text ‘Metrobank Get’ and send it to 0917-851-MBTC(6282)”

    The link has an expiry of 7 days, just follow the instructions on the message to request for a new link.

    Why is GPRS/MMS activation required? The GPRS activation is required only once during downloading of the applet as this

    requires internet connection.

    Fund Transfer May I transfer funds to another person's Metrobank account?

    Yes, fund transfers may be made to another person's Metrobank account provided that it is first enrolled as a target account under Metrobank Mobile Banking. * 3rd party fund transfers may only be done via MBS applet, iOS and Android Apps.

    May I transfer funds to accounts maintained at other banks? No, fund transfers may only be made to and from Metrobank CASA accounts.

    May I transfer funds to my other accounts maintained at other Metrobank branches?

    Yes, fund transfers may be made to accounts under your own name and maintained at other Metrobank branches provided that they are enrolled as well to the mobile banking service.

    Is there a limit to the amount I can transfer? You may transfer a maximum amount of P40, 000.00 per day from each source account.

    Bills Payment Do I need to enroll the bills I will pay thru Mobile banking?

    No, enrollment of billers are not required. You may pay yours or someone else’s bills regularly or just one time as needed.

    However, it will be more convenient to save the biller account details for bills you regularly pay. You may do this in your Mobile Banking applet yourself by just choosing the “Yes” on the Save Biller Account field the next time you pay that particular bill.

    Prepaid Reload What airtime denominations may I load?

    Can I reload someone else's phone? Yes, aside from your own phone, you may reload someone else’s phone. For added convenience you may select the phone number you wish to load by

    choosing from your phone’s contact folders. If you regularly send load to this mobile number you may save the details by just

    choosing the “Yes” on the Save field the next time you send load to that particular mobile number.

    MBS iOS App Do I have to have a SIM on the iOS device?

    No, you may link any enrolled mobile number to the MBS iOS App. The Activation Code shall be sent to the enrolled mobile number as an SMS.

    Does the Activation Code have validity? Yes, for security, the Activation Code shall remain valid for 30 minutes. The user must

    get another Activation Code if he was not able to activate within 30 minutes. Remember, each user will only be allowed up to three (3) Activation Codes per day. This

    is reset to zero at 1:00 a.m. of the following day.

    Other Inquiries

    Can I still use the mobile banking service when I change my cellphone unit?

    Yes, you may still use the Metrobank’s Mobile Banking service since it is your Mobile No. (SIM) that is enrolled. You just need to redownload the applet to your new phone.

    Just follow the same procedure as you did when you first downloaded the applet. You will be required again to nominate a new 6-digit MPIN, this time the current MPIN will be the MPIN you used in your old cellphone.

    What will I do if I forgot my MPIN and my mobile banking account was locked? You may request for a reset of your MPIN. Currently, resetting of MPIN can be done

    thru the depository branch where you enrolled your mobile banking service or via self-MetrobankDirect service facility to nominate temporary MPIN. User has to log in and must go to Options > Enroll > Mobile Banking Enrollment.

    What do I need to do to deactivate my mobile banking service if in case my phone got lost or stolen?

    For clients enrolled using a pre-paid SIM: You may request for termination of your mobile banking service. Currently, termination

    of mobile banking service can be done thru the depository branch where you enrolled your mobile banking service. User has an option to call Contact Center for proper handling. To continue using Metrobank’s Mobile Banking service, you may enroll your new number (SIM).

    For clients enrolled using a post-paid SIM: You may request for termination of your mobile banking service. Currently, termination

    of mobile banking service can be done thru the depository branch where you enrolled your mobile banking service. User has an option to call Contact Center for proper handling. Once, you have your new SIM (same post- paid number) you may again reactivate your mobile banking service thru your depository branch, you just need to redownload the applet to your new phone.
